Sure they will. They will finish 1/2game behind or tied and the Bulls still get the #2 seed. I dont know who is going to play tonight. It might look like a D League game.
Wasn't it Howard that came out with a speech about the importance of loyalty? Explain to me how what Dwight is doing to Orlando and van Gundy is worse than LeBron's Decision?
Pretty sure everyone can safely agree that Howard is now coming into the range of The Decision due to the fact the length of this. I'll ride on the Simmon's argument that The Decision rides on the level of "emotionally devastating" because Cleveland is a tortured sports town and it was sudden. Half of Orlando fan's want him out, the other half wants him to stay, and all of them just want it to be over some how some way.
Lebron was a free agent. He wasn't under contract with the Cavs. Dwight has 1+ years left. I always thought it was the TV special that people didnt like. James shouldnt have been forced to go back to Cleveland. Their owner sucks. It was sudden, but he is allowed to choose. You cant come out and say "Im not coming back". That totally ruins your leverage in any future negotiations. Dwight is under contract. If he wanted out, just be a man and say it. Don't hold the city, the franchise, the fans & your teammates hostage with some bullshit about loyalty after you tried everything you could to screw your team and then your coach.
Is it even clear what Howard's specific complaint is, other than "I don't like the guy"? Does he have an actual basketball-related complaint?
Excellent point. Stan can be a hard ass. But he is also the guy responsible for Wade being the player he is. If Riley was coach, Wade wouldnt have played because Riley hates young players/rookies. Spoelstra and SVG are responsible for playing Wade and developing him into the MVP of the NBA finals. SVG also learned his lesson when he was run out of Miami by Shaq & Riley. If youre gonna do the time, you might as well go ahead and commit the crime. I think Howard is just using it as an excuse to deflect from the fact that he doesn't want to be in Orlando anymore and wants to move to LA or NJ or Dallas.
Woo! I don't know when the last time I witnessed a flagrant 2 outside of the playoffs. James Jones, how could you?
Not even close. Stern won't allow anything remotely as physical as those series were back then in terms of fouls and scuffles. And that's not to mention the new rules against hand-checking and perimeter contact that fundamentally alter the physical nature of the series to begin with. Can you imagine anything like this happening between these two teams? Joakim Noah and LeBron James in a fistfight where Erik Spoelstra is trampled underneath Noah's feet?
Has there ever been a good fight in the NBA? It's just a mass of arms and legs and girly swinging and posturing. Watch that Mourning/Larry Johnson melee again. They look like 7 year old girls trying to claw each other's eyes out. Embarrassing. My theory is, that when youre 6'2 in the 5th grade, nobody picks on you so you have no real life fight experience. You may look big and bad, but id be more worried about getting hurt from the 5'10" guy that had to fight 3x a week on the playground.
They were both awful, but yes, of course there have been "good" fights. Most infamously, Kermit Washington almost killed Rudy Tomjanovich back in 1977. Also, Kareem once broke his hand and Kent Benson's jaw with a punch. In general though, you're correct; professional basketball players aren't much when it comes to fighting. Then again, that's self-explanatory.
Well the only two people I'd be scared of in the NBA is Kevin Garnett before he got old and any small guy that grew up in a shitty area. Anyone taller or bigger, nope, probably wouldn't initiate a real fight.
That was not a fight. Rudy never saw it coming. But hey, thats what you get for rushing in to where a fight could happen. Gotta keep that head on a swivel! Garnett? What is he 7' 185#? Ill take Charles Oakley.
I hate it when people call that a "sucker punch". Or the Boise State guy that Blount laid out. Or the guy that got his face split open in the Cincy/Xavier fight. If I walk up to you in the grocery store and slam you in the jaw in the produce section...THAT is a sucker punch. If it's a fight or a fight type situation, youd better be ready for anything. Because you didn't expect it is not an excuse. If its after a game and you just won and youre gonna run your mouth, dont be shocked if the other guy punches you in the face.
Thrilling overtime victory by the Jazz over the Magic, with Orlando playing surprisingly well throughout. Indiana-Orlando will be an interesting series; neither team has a dominant player, but there are a bunch of quality guys on both squads that can shoot, pass, and defend. As for the Jazz, Devin Harris is finally playing well, and Hayward has turned into a good player at the end of his second season. All bias aside, I think Salt Lake City is probably the best home crowd in the league.
Wow, World Metta Peace is not living up to his name. Blatantly elbowed James Harden in the face. Holy shit.
Yep, I didn't believe the whole "he's changed" bullshit either. What a douchebag. <a class="postlink" href="http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/22/metta-world-peace-ejected-for-flagrant-two-elbow-to-james-hardens-head/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... dens-head/</a>
