Flip Saunders died today. Not sure what this means for the Timberwolves organization. I'm guessing Mitchell remains coach for the year (unless he really stinks it up) and Newton assumes full time GM duties, but who knows what happens after this season. Glen Taylor had some arrangement with Saunders where he would get an ownership stake in the team; not sure what's going to happen now. My guess is that Taylor really looks for a buyer for the team, since he's been wanting to sell it for a few seasons now.
Golden State Warriors 2 victories into retaining their NBA crown. Why yes those victories were blowouts against Western Division playoff teams from last year. Suck it.
Kobe says it's time to let the young guys develop I've started to come around on Kobe a little, but when he says stuff like, "Got to let them develop" while putting up this statline: I don't know whether to roll my eyes or giggle.
Coaching makes a difference. The team barely changed, but the Bulls completely forgot how to play any semblance of defense. You'd think that after multiple years of something, they'd remember stuff. Nope.
Is it too early to bitch about the Wolves' coaching? In the first two games KAT averaged 32 minutes a game and put up a double-double in each game - both Wolves' victories. In the last two games KAT's averaged 24 minutes a game and the Wolves have lost both. I understand Mitchell's trying to figure out rotations, but the Wolves' three best players are each averaging under 30 minutes per game.
You... didn't see that coming? If this was and end-of-the Earth scenario, we'd all be well prepared by now and be living in underground bunkers designed to last for 10 generations. Except the bulls fans, who would be the ones sitting around when their thumbs asses saying "I think I'll just take some advil."
I mean sure, yeah Rose is what he is at this point in his career. Still doesn't make it less sad to watch him now compared to his heyday.
Whoa whoa whoa, calm the fuck down with that bullshit. The man needs to get into rhythm, figure out this new offense, and not get double vision. He has a broken orbital socket. Let's have that clear-up and see where he's at before we put anymore dirt on the man's grave. He has a great team around him and it's not like it's fucking Brandon Roy with no knees here. Still lots of season here.
Hell of a game tonight by the Wolves. They absolutely dominate the Hawks in the 1st half and go up by 30, only to cough that entire lead up because the Hawks started pressing aggressively and the Wolves couldn't figure out how to defeat it - they gave up something like 35 points on 19 turnovers in the 2nd half. But just when the Hawks actually take a 1 point lead with 3:25 left in the game, the Wolves put the clamp down and hold them scoreless for the rest of the game and end up winning by 10. It's obviously way too early but the Wolves - at least the way they're playing right now - look like they could contend for a playoff spot. They're 4-2 and have beaten a couple of good teams on the road. We'll see what happens once they have an injury or two and if Towns can avoid hitting the rookie wall later in the season.
Anyone else's defending champion team undefeated? I thought not. Good try Detroit. I have to get that last brag in as the Warriors are at Memphis tomorrow night. Memphis might still be smarting after that 50 point beat down last week and looking for some revenge.
What's up with all these ugly-ass uniforms? The Hawks wore some white uniforms with highlight marker yellow for the numbers which looked awful, and now the Suns are wearing some grey things that look like pajamas. At least the Clipper unis look nice.
I don't know if I can watch Curry anymore. It's just too demoralizing. I think I now understand how Blazers' fans felt watching Jordan. Actually, I think this worse because at least Bowie could be defended from some perspectives.
16-0 I can live with that start to a season. Even more enjoyable watching Kobe Bryant go 1-14 against the Warriors. I have never liked him as a player and yes I am taking some enjoyment knowing he has nothing left except, to take $20 million dollars away from the Lakers.
