The real story here is how did a teenage meat market worker grow up to own a warehouse empire in South Africa? I made more money last year than I ever have and I can barely afford to keep my car maintained sometimes.
Production 2019 Corvette ZR1 beats Ford GT track time by 1;37. The $119,995 ZR1 was equipped with its optional $2,995 ZTK Performance Package, which includes sticky summer-only tires, a downforce-producing aero kit and a track-focused suspension tune It's like watching a video game:
I pulled the trigger on a 1981 Delorean DMC-12 a few months ago. It has just under 12,000 miles and it's very clean. I've wanted one of these things for a long time, mostly because I'm fascinated by the story behind them and the cars themselves. The first time I saw one was when Back to the Future when I was 6, and I immediately wanted to know what this "Delorean" was and where they came from. I didn't even know you could get one until I saw one on the street in my early 20's. That's when I decided I wanted to own one someday. The previous owner died and it sat for a couple of years, so I need to clean up the fuel system and probably replace the fuel pump. These things do not like varnished fuel. I'm also gonna replace all the rubber suspension components and replace all the bulbs on the car with LED's. Other than that and maybe some new weatherstripping, the car is pretty much ready to go. These things were castrated due to early 80's emissions laws, so I'll probably do some engine and exhaust work some day to wake it up a bit. I can't wait for spring to come so I can go cruising in this thing.
Fuck yeah, that's awesome. If you add a Flux Capacitor, when you go cruising you'll get laid for sure. Oh, and a red ski vest.
Very cool! Just be aware that some older cars from that era don't like straight-up LED bulb replacements, as the new lights don't draw enough current to actually work properly with some older electronics. Some retrofit kits actually have resistors in there to artificially up the current draw on them. Can't wait to see some pics!
Yeah, there are guys out there who are selling tailor made kits now, so hopefully that'll never be an issue. The whole electrical system on these things is kind of a nightmare due to the shitty plugs and poor grounding. The door lock cylinders draw voltage when the car is off, but there are newer replacements that eliminate that issue too. I've chatted with a few other Delorean owners and it sounds like once you get the electrical system squared away along with a few other small quirks, they're a pretty reliable car.
Anyone else catch the season opener of Top Gear? I have to say... I think we're incredibly lucky. Top Gear is actually getting GOOD again, thanks to the proper hosts actually hosting, and The Grand Tour being the classic 3 Stooges in cars.
Wow... dude puts a Cat engine with an Alison transmission in a 90's GMC 3500. http://www.trucktrend.com/features/...towing-king-with-7-2l-caterpillar-engine-swap Crazy.
The 3126 is a good engine, pre-emission with no ARD setup on it, that thing will pull whatever he wants.
Don’t you just love when the version of your car is totally different than the official manual and all of the diy guides online? What should have taken me an hour is now an unknown since I can’t even find the sensors location now.
It'd be worthwhile to take to a shop for shits and giggles. "Yeah... what's your shop rate for a tune up on a '94 GMC 3500?" "$128" "Awesome... I'll see you on Thursday." The look on the tech's face when he popped the hood would be hilarious. He would have a story for life. "And then there was some dipshit that brought in a 3500 with a Cat diesel in it..." But seriously, it was pretty funny how they had to get an outside shop to figure out how to get the speedo to work properly. And, if the price was low enough, I'd buy it. It wouldn't be a daily driver, but it would be something fun to fuck around with.
