Lucky bastard! I've always wanted a '67-'69 Cougar, but unfortunately, I don't fit in them: my head scrapes the roof, plus the interior is just a little too small for my tastes. Can you give us any details about the 351 you're going to build for it?
Nothing crazy. Our target market is the middle aged guy whose dad probably had one and he's always wanted one. It already has headers, aluminum heads (wtf?!) and we're going to stab one of the Thumpr cams in it. They sound good and make great vacuum. We don't care about HP or time slips on this one. Some 50 y/o guy just wants a car that sounds mean and can lay long black lines leaving Cars and Coffee.
I know if I had a place to put it I'd already be making you an offer on it. That thing is just to cool.
I am sure it is. Remind me of one in town, think it was a mid 70's with a L76 or L88 package nothing fancy. The guy would not sell it, but didn't want to do anything with it. It has moss and a tree growing inside of it, then a wind storm came along and knocked something on top of it.
I love those guys, it’s been sitting in the yard for 30 years but I am gonna restore it one day, this coming from the 70 year old man who can’t get around.
I have a friend who had a '63 split-window sitting in a hangar somewhere with his other toys, and he was really proud of it. I chastised him and said the only time to be proud of it is when you actually did something with it (it had some body damage and other things that needed fixing before it could be drive-able). He eventually came around and sold it to someone who really wanted to get it on the road and see it driven, and sure enough that guy made it happen in a few months... even let my friend take it for a nice long drive after it was restored.
Got the motor out & cleaned up, stabbed the new cam and put an aluminum water pump on. Car is basically disassembled and we're waiting for the blaster to come out in early April. Next on the agenda is cleaning up the suspension, adding new bushings, ball joints etc.
This was a few months ago, but I just saw it. If you want to set the record for longest time in continuous drift, what do you do if you're going to run out of gas? You keep drifting and you refuel from another drifting car, of course.
Here's something different: A 1972 Chrysler Valiant Charger R/T with a Six-Pack 265 Hemi. (No, I didn't make that up...It's an Aussie model.)
Looks very GT40-ish... it'll be interesting to see how it performs. They should be able to get it close to 50/50 balance... which would be fucking killer.
