The power steering assist motor is probably a high-drain and "secondary" component to other pieces, so it makes sense that it would put it at the bottom of the priority list. I'm just surprised that it would actually selectively shut down components rather than just kill everything at once. Even "stupid" cars are getting smarter it seems.
Electric power steering motors are only energized when assist is needed; they DO draw constant key-on power for their module, though.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/04/1...ts-white-in-bid-to-combat-climate-change.html I predict this is going to be as massive problem. Paint is slick, much slicker than asphalt. There will likely be countless rear end collisions, mowed down pedestrians and lots of sideways cars.
If it passes the "skid test", then those hazardous remain to be seen yet. (How does it effect self-driving cars for reading comprehension?) It will absolutely reduce the heat island effect. But if they think the size of asphalt paving in California is going to have an impact on the climate of the entire planet, they have been breathing too many paint fumes already.
Still, their money/roads their rules. If it isn't unsafer then Im all for innovation like this. Maybe not a super macro solution but certainly could help locally quite a bit.
Do they have paint that has more grip than what is currently being used, if so why aren't they using it for striping? I honestly don't know anything about street paint, I've only designed ribbon pavement and curb and gutter subdivision streets, none of them have ever been striped. I guarantee it would cut down on motorcycle accidents. The only time I laid a motorcycle down on pavement was because I let a tire roll on to the yellow line in a turn. The stuff currently on the roads does not pass my skid test.
Well it turns out it wasn't the alternator, but the belt/tensioner shit the bed still the same results. What is shitty? They don't have a belt for my Explorer, how the fuck don't you have one in Canada? How many hundred of thousands did they sell?
What's so special about it that you can't just use a ___ type belt of ____ inches in length? Does it need to be a special belt of some sort?
Yup, there is a dozen of the continental/goodyear in Vancouver just from one of the suppliers I know, but fuck ford Canada.
Well, maybe you shouldn't have been going too fast to keep it between the lines. I keed, I keed! It's not really paint. Guardtop makes it, and you've all seen their product before, when they come back and seal a parking lot? Same stuff, pretty much, just in white. It's got a polymer in it and some kind of blend that makes less skiddy. I dunno - doesn't seem it was intended for use on roads. But, whatever, California has done plenty of other things that I thought were dumb.
Yup they are called ‘exploders’ for a reason. I was in one that caught fire and it was a mid 2000s like two years old at the time.
I finally got my DeLorean out on Sunday. It had sat for a year or two and the fuel injection systems in these things are very sensitive to old fuel. I bought an upgraded fuel pump and sender kit and spent Saturday afternoon scrubbing varnish and other crap out of the inside of the fuel tank and installing the new pump. It runs and drives nice, the only things I need to fix are the headliner, the right front parking lamp and the AC. For some reason the compressor isn't getting any voltage but that should be pretty easy to track down. I should have a new headliner in it by the weekend, just in time for the local car show.
I thought it came standard with fake coke in the glove box and the hidden side panels with the real stuff?
