Sorry, can't help you... but come on dude... fess up. What'd you do? And in other news, my garage is now ready for the engine/tranny/carb swap tomorrow for my new engine for the race car. One REALLY nice thing about the Porsche 911 is that this engine swap is basically 4 bolts, the clutch, and a few simple fuel/oil connections. The engine, transmission, headers, and exhaust are all attached and in one easy-to-handle piece. No dicking around with headers, exhaust, or any of that stuff. Just unbolt it, and then lift the body of the car off the engine, and you're good to go. The only hard part will be swapping in my carbs, as the new engine originally came with EFI, and I didn't want to bother with it. As much as I like EFI, he as looking for too much for me to really justify it, when really it'd only see a few extra HP. That means I just have to swap in my distributor and the carbs, and I'm good to go. I'll post some pics when we're done, if you're interested.
Joy. Engine swap didn't get totally done today. Who would have thought that 7 CV joint bolts would take over 4 hours to extract? Fucking things. Anyway, this is where it sits as of now... One on the left is the old one, stripped of all the carbs, etc., ready to be sent off for a rebuild. One on the right is the new engine... 3.6 instead of 3.4, twin-plugged, and carbureted instead of the EFI it originally came with. Looks like I won't get it done in time for the races this weekend, but oh well... shit happens.
I'm sure I am way behind the times on this, but the Lexus LFA makes me sexually aroused. http://www.lexus.com/LFA/ That thing is hot pussy on wheels.
With a base price of $375,000.00 it better be. If I had that kind of scratch lying around, I don't think I'd get one. A Lexus is better suited for USMC officers. It does look cool. For that kind of money I'd look at Ferrari or a Lambo.
Don't get me wrong, at that price, I'd certainly buy an F430 Spyder with an actual six-speed manual before the lexus...but the LFA is still a beautiful piece of machinery.
I don't know of anyone who owns a Lexus...now Bimmers are a different story. And trucks. Holy jesus every other one of my friends has some sort of Silverado or Ram...us and our stupid Lieutenant-mobiles. And adding to the LFA, I would have expected more from a 400grand car...possibly some wings and a jet engine? It also looks a lot like the GTR.
You seriously believe that? You know how many demo's the have had, and how many release dates they have pushed back. It was supposed to be out 2.5-3 years ago, i will believe it when i have a copy in my hands.
Yeah, this Lexus is a car for real men, the 430 spyder is a car for sweaty greaseballs who do laps of upscale shopping malls in 2nd gear. I've seen this thing up close, it is a work of art. If you want numbers, go buy a GTR.
The Saab has developed a starting problem. Battery checks out fine, all connections are good, car hasn't thrown any codes. If the car has been sitting for a while or overnight it starts up the first time without any hesitation. If I drive it to work (45 min) and turn it off in the parking lot and immediately try to restart it, it'll fire right back up. The issue is when I turn the car off after short trips. It sounds like it's trying to start, jumping it doesn't do anything but if I wait 15-20 minutes or so it'll fire right back up (even after trying to start it multiple times). Any ideas?
I'm thinking about getting a different car. I'm leaning towards a 4 door Wranger, but also considering a 2 door or a Montero. Any thoughts?
What are the best websites for new car reviews? Already scanned edmunds.com and autos.yahoo.com. Any others I should check? I'm helping a friend look for an affordable AWD sedan/coupe with better gas mileage than her truck (so something >20 or so), suggestions there would be appreciated, too.
I have a '01 Ford Ranger 4x4 w/ the 4.0 V6 and it's been randomly popping the code P0402. I know it has to do with the EGR system and have replaced the EGR valve and the DPFE sensor, the vacuum lines appear to be in good shape. The only thing I have not done is check the voltage at the DPFE sensor. I keep forgetting to do that when the CEL comes on. This thing just randomly pops on and a day later it clears itself. When it first started, it only came up on longish drives but then it didn't come on for a month and that includes when I towed my old truck 150 miles, from my parents house to my house. Then a week after that, it pops on and stays on for a day, then clears. Other than checking the voltage, at the DPFE sensor, is there anything else I can test to try and fix this thing? I've asked on a couple Ford sites but I haven't received any solutions that I haven't already tried.
Ford Fusion w/ AWD. It's what we put all our sales and service techs in. So far, so good. They get great gas mileage, are good in the snow, and look halfway decent. If she's looking for something a little dressier tell her to look at the Mercury and Lincoln models based on the Fusion.
Saab fixed. $70 crank position sensor. Got smooooooooked today by a 3000GT VR-4. For some reason I've never been terribly into those cars. For their day they had some very cool options but they fall into the "more trouble than they're worth" category for me as no one I know that owned one had a trouble free ownership. The same goes for the MR-2, RX-7, and 300ZX TT.
Not to mention how insanely heavy those VR-4/ Stealth GT-S are. I've not had any issues with my 300ZX TT. You know except blowing my motor, but that was my fault. Hell even the HICAS four wheel steering still works.
