My 7 year-old son still fires up Duke Nukem on the 64 at least once a week. He was CRUSHED when they pushed Forever back yet another month.
I played some SNES yesterday. The console still worked, but flickered a bit on screen and the color went in and out. Mario Kart races were held, Star Fox was played, and NBA JAM was dominated. I'm on fire!!!
I still have an original copy of Chrono Trigger. Our SNES doesn't get nearly the love that the 64 gets. Also: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/44322/PSN-recovery-begins Downloaded the new firmware last night and I just changed my password and am about to fire up some Dead Space 2. http://www.istheplaystationnetworkbackup.info/ YAY!
You ma'am have a son with a healthy life of gaming ahead of him. I'm afraid to have kids because I'll have to put them up for adoption if they don't appreciate the classics...
One hour later, I think I'm done with Mortal Kombat for good. I played the everloving shit out of single player and local multiplayer for the past month while PSN was down, and was patiently (ha) waiting for PSN to come back up to play online. I remembered there were issues at first but just assumed it was due to the fact that it was just released, and didn't think all the talk from XBL users about how shitty the online wasn't at least a little bit exaggerated. How wrong I was. I sit there for 5-10 minutes waiting for a single fucking ranked match every time, only to have it unplayable because of lag and then have it disconnect right before the end. I tried for the next hour, and even if the match is playable there is a definite delay between what happens on your controller and what happens on the screen. I played a few more matches, got disconnected again and just said fuck this. How the creators of one of the biggest fighting franchises of all time can't create a fucking online system that works is beyond me. I'm going to play SOCOM now. When the game first dropped I was lucky if I was able to finish a whole round without getting kicked, let alone a full game. Here's hoping they fixed that...and if they didn't, then I guess it's back to Black Ops or something.
Is anyone actually able to get on to the PSN currently? I was able to download the firmware update fine about an hour ago, but now when I go to change my password, the PSN bombs out with an error saying the service is currently unavailable. Per Sony's site, the service was brought back down for 30 minutes to clear their email queue, but that was some time ago. Damn it.
The higher I get in league of legends (400 games won, 1350 ELO) the more I realize there are some people who just don't get it. I'm seeing players with 800 and 900 games who haven't mastered the fundamentals of the game. I often play with 100 and 200 win players who have a better understanding of the game's underpinnings. say 750 wins, 750 losses, most of those games will average out to 30 mins, I would guess. 1500 games x 1/2 hour = 750 hours. How can you spend that long on this game and be so bad? http://www.own3d.tv/live/318 That is Grackis' livestream. He was one of the first competitive players to have an HD stream up all the time, and as a result he has more viewers than he should based on his skill level. Watching this guy makes my night. Almost every day around 7 or 8pm CST he logs on and proceeds to nerdrage at everyone on his team, insisting that he is getting trolled by people who want to see him lose ELO. I love the random forum hate for him on the General section of the League boards, too. Think of a tech-savvy Ignatius J. Reilly. His Malzahar is actually pretty decent, but he's been playing Karthus and Fiddlesticks lately. Fun to watch.
I finished Portal 2. Is it only 9 Chapters? Seems short. I thought I remember seeing more chapters than that and tests in videos that did not come up in the game.
WickedBitch told me that coop is "It is SO much fun and is a totally different game (literally and figuratively)." Don't forget that there will also be DLC content, and reports are that the first DLC pack will be Free-ninety-nine and supposedly due out this summer. I finished it but I've yet to get all the 1p achievements and find all the Easter eggs.
Just pre ordered LA Noire from Amazon, I'm usually not one to bother with pre ordering games but this seemed worth it. No tax, free overnight shipping with Amazon Prime so it will be waiting for me when I get home tomorrow, and I got a $15 credit on my Amazon account to be used for any future purchases. So far it looks like it is already getting some very solid reviews, I'm pretty excited to play it.
Yeah Amazon has some good pre-order deals right now. Mass Effect 3 or Batman: Arkham City - $10 gift credit Gears of War 3 or Madden 2012 - $20 gift credit LA Noire - $15 gift credit
Sorry for flooding the thread. K-Mart is selling LA Noire with a $20 gift card and then you can get any two games priced $19.99 and under for free. Since Wal-Mart gives you cash for any return under $25 without a receipt and you can make 3 receipt-less returns within a 45 day period, that's almost $40 in cash bitches (just return them in 2 separate trips! (Wal-Mart return policy)
http://www.gog.com/en/news/last_chance_to_pre_order_the_witcher_2_on_gog_com Last chance to get in on the 10% off pre-order for The Witcher 2, and your choice of 1 of 5 games for free from GOG.com
My Steam account is worth $890.50. I knew I had a lot of games, but that's more than I thought it would be worth.
Seeing stuff like that really puts things into perspective, and I bet those prices are lower than what you paid for the games. It always makes me laugh when people argue that one console (yes, I know Steam is on the PC, but the argument stands) should be picked over another because it's $50 cheaper, the system prices are insignificant compared to the game prices.
Just got done playing BioShock. As fun as it was, I felt like it ended very abruptly. That has to be the easiest boss I've faced in a game since the first Assassin's Creed. Still, the story was cool. I heard the second one isn't nearly as dark and eerie. That makes me a saaaaad panda.
Mea culpa freebies announced from Playstation: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/ ... gle+Reader I'll probably end up getting Dead Nation and Infamous (already have LBP GoTY and aren't interested in the rest) and I traded in my PSP a few weeks ago, otherwise I'd get LBP for that at very least.
Not a bad offering. Anyone know how PS plus works if you get one of their free or discounted games and cancel the membership? Do you keep the game forever or do they charge you the difference in price when you cancel or take the game away?
Probably get inFamous and Wipeout HD, never huge on the left for dead series or any knock offs there of, also not a huge platformer fan so LittleBigPlanet is out. Wipeout was the very first game I eve got for the PSX. Honestly the titles aren't all that thrilling and most, if not all, can be picked up pretty cheaply in any bargain bin.
