Did it come with a voucher to get into Uncharted 3's beta when it goes live? I remember Infamous 1 had a voucher for U2's beta, was just curious if they continued the trend or not.
Didn't see this listed any where so I figured you guys might be interested. It's the specs for the Wii U. If anyone with good technical know-how can translate this it would be greatly appreciated.
I tend to forget about Zero Punctuation for months at a time, which is great because it means when I'm bored/drunk/by myself/all three, I can sit and listen to like 10 of his game reviews in a row. So I just listened to bitter ass Yahtzee rave about Shadow of the Colossus (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/1924-Shadow-of-the-Colossus" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... e-Colossus</a>), and remembered that I've had this game sitting on my shelf for well over a year now. I'm about to finish Infamous (which is awesome as shit and also free, and it's strangely ironic because Sony's network fuckup actually got me playing the PS3 for the first time in months since I got cool free games), and I'm wondering if I should play Shadow of the Colossus next. Everything I've ever heard suggests that it is amazing, but a quick Google search told me that it's coming out revamped in HD in December. I guess my question for yall is, should I play it now or would it be worth it to wait for the 1080p version because the first time experiencing the massive colossi will be that much more mindblowing in HD?
I wouldn't bank on the remake anytime soon, they've been promising an FF7, one of the most popular games ever, remake for years and have yet to deliver. I wouldn't hold my breath on them remaking an obscure game almost no one bought without a concrete release date. As for the game itself, I definitely enjoyed it, very dark and unique. You basically go around slaying monsters to bring you loved one back to life, the imagery even in today's standards is gorgeous and the game play is fun. One thing to warn you about, if you're the type of person that likes to be rewarded with level ups and upgrades after completing a mission you are going to be at least a little bit put off, it's an RPG type game but your character doesn't get any stronger.
So I played some Infamous last night since it was free and I don't know if I'm just bad at aiming or if I'm missing something, but actually hitting reapers with lightning is really tough for me. I feel like these controls are a huge pain in the ass whenever you're actually fighting... which is often. Any tips or help?
Confirmed release date for the remake is September. They have never "promised" an FF7 remake. I'd grab the remake regardless as you get the balls-tighteningly amazing Ico as well
Patience, pretty soon you'll be getting the sticky shock grenade and you can absolutely wreck shit with those. And the ICO/SotC HD collection has been confirmed with a September release date. I'm also hoping Konami drops the HD remakes of Silent Hill 2 & 3 sometime this year as well.
Dmix is right about patience. The other thing to keep in mind is that regular lightning blasts don't really cost any energy, so blast the fuck out of stuff. Another hint is this: when a reaper is kind of far away, your aiming circle will be gray and dark. If they're within range, the aiming circle turns blue if it is over the target. This is how you know if they are in range, and can be helpful for aiming at longer distance targets.
Anyone else been catching E3 coverage? Not bad so far, can't wait for Deus Ex 3. However the biggest disappointment has got to be the yet again absence of Half-Life 2 Ep3 (or HL3).
You should probably save all your shit...just saying. Probably clear out all your cache, cookies, and history. It is random that it'd crash while playing Pandora.
So, I'm in desperate need of some help here. One of my 360 discs got scratched. The game can boot, but I can't play without getting the "unreadable disc" error. Is it at all possible to put the game on a blank DVD in a way that my 360 will read without modding the actual console? And if so, will someone please give me some info on how? I've googled this and most of the results mention modding the console, and the directions on how to actually make the disc itself are incredibly varied. Any help here would be greatly appreciated, because the disc is on loan. I'm not going to suck any dick, but I'm about a half step short of that kind of desperation.
Can you post a pic of the damaged disc? Like I mentioned in PM, maybe you can take it to Blockbusters or something similar and get them to run it through their disc-resurfacing machine. They tend to have something that will lightly sand down the surface and then re-buff it so that it looks almost like new. As long as you didn't hit the data layer with your scratch, this might work. I know I've done that with a few normal DVD's, but I'm not that familiar with console discs.
I believe 360 will work, cant remember, but what ever you do, if for some reason a ps3/bluray disk get a scratch in it, dont get it resurfaced. They have a really nice coating on them that make them pretty resistant to scratching, but if you try and resurface them, you totally fuck them.
I don't have a way to post a picture of it at the moment, at least not one where you can see the scratches. They're not too deep, just barely detectable by feel; they follow the curve of the disc a few centimeters in from the edge, and from I've gathered from google, this is a common issue due to MS cost-cutting.
As far as the scratched disc does, a disc buffer that places like Blockbuster use is your best bet. I managed a Gamestop for 5 years, and lord knows how many people came in with those problems. They were all sent to the Family Video down the street, and the vast majority of the time, walked away happy with a functional disc. Also, keep your 360 horizontal rather than vertical if you want to minimize your odds of the dreaded circle scratches. That was always my first question when someone came in with a circled disc, and 99% of the time, they kept their system upright. Aaaand speaking of 360s, I got to play the first half hour of Duke Nukem Forever at a buddy's house last night (dude has a modded system. Hooray for ethics). Wow. I laughed out loud a couple of times (throwing poop is always fun in video games), but was really, really unimpressed. Graphically, it looked like a 360 launch title. It felt like a 90s shooter with just a touch more polish to it. Nothing special at all. With that said, I'm a sucker for humor in games, so I'll still be renting this one, though it doesn't look like it's gonna be worth a buy. After E3, it's looking like Battlefield 3 and Halo Anniversary are going to be my two shooters this year. Goddamn this fall is gonna be fun.
I don't think it was ever going to have a chance at being a half-decent game, technically, just because of its history. For that matter, I can't say I know anybody who's buying it for any other reason other than its history.
