It costs $70 for a fucking space monocle. I could buy a couple of real monocles for money like that. Not that I care anyway, since the last patch the game won't even let me log in because my computer's not good enough. I guess it was fun while it lasted.
I've checked all my Redboxes around the area and the website (because they are indeed renting games as of now) but they don't have F.E.A.R. 3 yet. I suspect it is the same deal that they have with some movie studios where there is a wait time before they can rent those titles out. And thanks.
My local (failing) mom & pop rental store rents next gen games for $6.99 for 5 days or 2 games for $12.00 (and I believe Blockbuster was comparable in their heyday) so no, Redbox isn't completely insane. Especially if you rent it at like 9:30 at night, you get almost a full 24 hours out of it (provided you only keep it one night). *edit* And Gamefly might be $10 a month but how soon do you think I would actually get FEAR 3? And can you imagine how long the wait will be when MW3 comes out or Battlefield 3?!
FWIW I paid about $45 via Amazon for a year of XBox Live. It's cheaper there than Gamestop or via credit card through your XBox.
Can I have your stuff? I'm on my second attempt of downloading the client right now, and I'm not the only one having problems with the new patch apparently. The bugs being report are hilarious, they messed with the database that handles stat applications to items so now a fair amount of equipment isn't letting peoples' skills be applied.
I was thinking the same thing at first, but as Wicked correctly pointed out, they take FOREVER to get newer games, like 4 months before the game will be available, and then you're lucky to get it to you within three months after that. Really Gamefly and Blockbuster by mail should only be used for playing out of date games. And if it's a new game, is paying $2-$6 really all that much to ask to make sure you like the game before you buy it? Can't tell you how many times in the past I dropped $60 on a game and realized by day two I regretted the purchase. Then again, most games have demos now, so that's probably a better bet.
Zero Punctuation reviews Duke Nukem Forever. Awesomeness. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/3581-Duke-Nukem-Forever-for-real-this-time?2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... his-time?2</a>
Nope, I'm unsubcribing. Leaked CCP memos show they're fully in the "Fuck our players" camp. CCP devs have no comment whatsoever. <a class="postlink" href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/22/rumour-leaked-document-shows-ccps-microtransaction-plans/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/22 ... ion-plans/</a> <a class="postlink" href="http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1534552&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.as ... 552&page=1</a> This is their Star Wars Galaxies NGE moment. QFT.
So I'm considering selling my DS Lite and upgrading to a 3DS. Wondering if anyone has played it and if it is any good? I've played it for about 5 minutes at a Best Buy, with the 3D on, and I got kinda nauseous, but it was also really blurry so I don't think I had it at the right angle (plus I am aware that you can turn the 3D off). Just wondering if anyone has one or if there are any reviews of it. It is mostly for the 3DS version of Ocarina of Time, at the moment, along with the new games that are sure to come out for it.
Got a 3DS at launch. Definitely wish I would have waited. Ocarina of Time is every bit as awesome as you remember (fuck the water temple), and looks considerably prettier now. Other than that, there has yet to be a game worth more than one or two days playing time. Street Fighter is great, but if you already own the console version(s), there isn't a lot of incentive to pick it up. Monkey Ball is a blast for about 10 minutes until you find that it's ultra-dumbed-down compared to some of the better iterations in the series. Feels more like a tech demo or a trial version. The Ghost Recon game was probably the one that had the most legs, but it was still strategy-lite compared to titles like Advance Wars. I'm sure it'll be a killer hardware buy down the road, and there's nothing wrong with nabbing one now just to have it when the great stuff rolls out. Just make sure you know up front that you'll pretty much be playing Zelda and a few tech demos until October-ish.
Supreme Court should be ruling next week on Schwarzenegger V ESA, deciding whether or not to allow stricter regulation on the sale of violent video games to minors (effectively outlawing it). G4 has a good summation of the bill, and the arguements for each side right here. To me (it look like a leprecaun to me), it looks like a slam dunk in favor of the good guys. Some of the legal babble is a bit much. Anyone seen Senna V. Prost?
Yeah, I'll probably end up getting one. If I wait, the trade in value for my DS Lite is going to go way, way down (I think its only $50 as it is at most places), while hardware prices for things like the DS or 3DS only really drop when the new version comes along anyway, which probably won't be for a few years. Thanks!
I'd be shocked if you got that much for it. I think where I worked, we were giving $30 maybe. It has probably gone down even more since Nintendo has stopped production on the DS Lites altogether.
At physical stores you're probably right, but Amazon will give him $50 for it if he has a colored one.
Well slap my ass and call me corrected! Huh. I have a DS Lite I wouldn't mind getting rid of but the D-pad barely works and it doesn't have a serial number. Nintendo sent us a brand new unit when it couldn't repair our original one and it didn't have a serial number on it. I can't imagine Amazon would give me the full $50 (if it gave me anything at all - most places won't take it without a serial number).
LoL just doesn't get old. Played a lot of ranged dps champs at first. Recently that got boring so I started branching out. Playing Alistar or Sona is a completely different experience.
