OK nerdlings, what's the story with modern incarnations of SecuROM? I'm reading a bunch of horror stories, but they're all three years old or so and I'm having a hard time getting any reliable up to date info on the exact ramifications of installing a game with it on my computer.
According to a forum topic that's from this year, it can: -Ruin IDE HDD drives -Delete your porn -Refuse to run a disc if DaemonTools is installed -See legal CDs as burned software, refusing to run them -Kill your parents and rape your dog -Install 32bit system files in 64bit Vista systems, rendering the computer unbootable I'm not certain which if these is true.
Green Man Gaming had 3 free games up for grabs this weekend. Apparently the codes are valid for "this weekend only", but I'm not sure about the timezones etc. So far the site has been dragging like snot and I've been unable to grab any of the games, but if anyone feels lucky they can give it a go.
Goddamn it. I've spent $100 for 15 games on steam this past week. It's been fucking 75 degrees out and sunny and I'm not going anywhere for weeks.
I'm still playing LoL, even with my laptop bound to fuck-up at any given second. Played with Annie for like the 5th time ever, first few times being back in October. That bitch is overpowered. It's fucking great. That Tibbers bomb changes the game every single time. Went 17-3-19 in a 40 minute game. Plus I shit talked someone into submission, probably the highlight of the game.
Dude, Annie is not overpowered. Yeah she can carrie when fed, but so can anyone. I've never once been on a loading screen and said "Fuck, an Annie." Even when she's fed, she's not that hard to kill.
Raved about this, but I figured I'd mention it here as well. IPL (IGN Pro League) Season 2 underway! Does anyone else keep up with the StarCraft 2 pro scene? It will be interesting to see if Idra will be able to repeat. Although it's always fun to see someone cheese him and he rages and quits. So far after Day 1 Vibe looked the best overall, with Day 2 being casted right now. This presentation for Season 2 is kind of weird, with the steampunk look and the weird character drawings. I liked the comic book style of the player intros for season 1 much better. Upset, at least in my mind, in Day two with Axslav losing to Thorzain, and I'm calling another upset since I think Strelok will beat Kiwikaki.
Well maybe I'm just elite. Either way. Just bought Lee Sin with IP. Finally added a ninja to the stable, its going to take me awhile to master this guy. His double moves are going to throw off my twitch and require a little more focus.
what twitch? I don't find xin OP really at all. Maybe at level 2-3. I have him set up for 31 armor pen at level 1 and his level 2 burst is nasty. He definitely sucks levels 4-5 when built this way though, til he gets his ulti.
I finished Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Picking up Uncharted 2 next. You know a game is good when your wife wants to sit down on the couch and watch you play it. Are there any other games like those I should know about? That's my bag, baby.
I'm on playthrough 2 of Borderlands. Once I get to 2.5, which downloadable content is the best? Which ones should I skip? This game is addictingly awesome. So much so that I canceled my xbox live and stopped playing MW2 (which I am fucking disgusting at).
I'm not a jungler and I have zero patience to learn it. And I have twitch, Cassiopeia is high twitch, (not Twitch the champ.) All of Lee Sin's double activation moves are tricky.
I've been having fun playing low level LoL accounts. A couple of my friends started playing so now I'm just running around tooling new players.
Playing with Lee Sin is hard. Playing Lee Sin with idiots is even harder. Lost a game with 10-27, we blew 3 towers. We lost a game up 15 kills because our Jax didn't know how to BD. Then lost another game up 17 kills because our TF didn't talk or fight much. He just teleported around jungling the entire game. Better luck tomorrow.
I don't have enough nerd friends to shamelessly brag about something so lame in real life so I must resort to TIB. As some of you may remember several months ago I was on a hardcore COD Black Ops bender and managed to get pretty high up on the leader boards. Fortunately I came to my senses and realized that in it's attempts to create balance BO had perhaps created the most unbalanced game in the COD series. Black Ops had done a poor job filling the hole in my heart left by the release of Halo: Reach which had effectively killed Halo 3 matchmaking just weeks earlier. Halo Reach is very unique from the other three games in its franchise. It contains armor abilities, gun sight "bloom" that becomes less accurate the faster you shoot, decreased jump height, health packs, and an extreme emphasis on teamwork. Despite initial reservations with the structural changes in multiplayer Halo Reach had ushered in, my Halo buddy and I began a split-screen quest for victory after returning home from college this summer. Rather than the standard Level 1-50 ranking system, Reach has a specified competitive playlist called "The Arena" which places you into one of five divisions after playing a minimum 4 games a day for ~5 days per six week season. My fine chum and I quickly discovered that because most cheeto dust encrusted nerds are only willing to roll solo in the Arena that we could abuse split screen to our advantage. Most players who make it into the top division, Onyx, enter the playlist on their own and have incredibly high K/D ratios. Well, us, not so much. My buddy is a one man wrecking crew with the very forgiving Reach sniper and plays very aggressively. I...just kinda float around using the jetpack pissing enemies off into charging, or flying straight up and doming them if they try to escape a fight. After two weeks of playing after work we have gotten my friend's account to the top 15% of Onyx, which represents the top 5% of the Arena playlist, *effectively putting said friend well into the top 1% of Halo Reach players. Pretty sweet. Overall I have found that Reach multiplayer is, after months of updates, incredibly balanced and well managed. The connection rarely drops, there is solid hit registration and your success is based purely on merit. If you're into the repetitive pew pew pew online shooters I recommend picking it up. I'd be more than willing to impart my useless nerd skills to any fledgling players. * TL;DR in bold
I love Reach but only just came into possession of it (my brother bought it, and he goes to another school). I might have to start up an XBL account just so I can play online. Does it have less asshats nowadays? I haven't played too much of the multiplayer (not enough to get good anyway), but I find that in Halo games I usually do best on confined maps, with enemies jumping in from all sides. I'm very much a lone wolf wrecking ball type player, and the streaks that I can get into in those situations are some of the most fun experiences I've had playing video games.
If there are more asshats I wouldn't know because Bungie implemented a glorious feature called Mute All. I do get angry messages a lot because of how frequently I win with a shitty K/D. Or maybe it's because my gamertag is Palin4President. Who knows. You can still play as a lone wolf in Reach but you have to be smart. Decent players win 1v1 DMR fights. Great players shoot enemies in the side of the head. Fair fights are for pansies and communists. Also interesting note: your bloom resets far faster if you crouch while shooting. If an enemy isn't looking crouch in place and destroy. It's also pretty hilarious to stop mid-strafe and crouch to take enemies by surprise and pull an easy headshot. You are wrong. I played Arena split screen 10 minutes ago. Perhaps one of your XBL accounts is expired?
I think it was because I was playing with a guest account and not a real one. That's probably exactly why it didn't work, just remembered.
