No. No, it wasn't a great game and I wasn't exactly thrilled to own it, but it did pretty much force Mom to buy me an SNES. Dragon's Lair paved the way for some great, great games.
I can see exactly why she would feel sorry for you. This was one of the few games that actually made me tear up in frustration. Worst of all was the fact that of course, I only played it because of the arcade game. Now, I didn't expect it to have the full FMV and such, but come on. There were games that made a great transition from the arcade to the NES, like Double Dragon, or TMNT (the second one). I got through Battletoads for goodness' sakes, but screw this game. Come to think of it, I never beat Ninja Gaiden III either. That game was a real asshole. EDIT: I just realized you said you received a Dragon's Lair copy for the SNES. I'm retarded. Carry on.
Parker - Javane PenetrationStation - Solcon HotWheelz - TheWheelz Konatown - Konatown Artic-Scrap - Hammsburglar Lindgren - ElAhraihrah Diablo - Devildogkill AwwwSNAP - AwwwSnap13 Likwid - LikwidNinja bewildered - RLC Flagrant - Fitznoozly Ycoseth - Ycoseth Yeah Diablo, 15 dollars for that shit. Absolutely ridiculous. Sad thing is, you're still probably going to buy it. I've spent a total of 40 on a bunch of skins. Not proud of it, I just have this weird perception that if I'm playing a character seriously, using their classic make me look like a newb. Can't wait for the new level. Sad how they haven't got fucking replays in the game though, but they can add a new game play type.
http://www.leaguereplays.com/ This is a good tool for recording matches. It's free and updated constantly to fix bugs and keep pace with new changes in the game. If learning to jungle was the first big change in my gameplay, getting this tool was the second. So useful to look back on mistakes you made, CS lost, how ward placement dictates the outcome of the fight. The fast forward/rewind is kind of imprecise, but its great for looking over your 5 man ranked matches if you run w/ a team.
So I've decided to sell off a lot of my older games that I don't play anymore. I am also fully aware that GameStop won't give me shit for them (and doesn't even take PSone games). Anyone interested in some PSone or PS2 games, let me know. Some of the best titles include: PSone: Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII Final Fantasy IX Metal Gear Solid PS2: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Castlevania: Curse of Darkness Guitar Hero Guitar Hero II Metal Gear Solid 3 If anyone is actually interested, PM me and I can make up a more complete list, as I have a lot of them.
And me as well, i am downloading it right now, name is Firefnd. I kept seeing posts for this game but never looked into it. I have played the DOTA mod for Starcraft 2 a bunch and this is pretty much the same thing so I am in.
I've been on the fence as to whether I was going to devote my gaming time to MW3 or BF3. Granted I've spent a lot of time playing MW2 and Black Ops and as fun as it is sometimes, the majority of my peeves with it are always the same. There's no teamwork required, for the most part it's a dog-eat-dog world and the only thing that matters is your KDR and trying to get killstreak so you can sit back and let them do the heavy lifting for you while you camp. A friend recommended it and on a whim, and partially to see what it was about in context to Modern Warfare, I picked up Battlefield:Bad Company 2 this past Saturday. Disclaimer: The first online game I ever became serious about was Socom 1, so my tastes when it comes to a frag-fest lean towards more of the team-based, tactical variety. I am no longer on the fence. I'll be buying and playing Battlefield 3 when it comes out, I doubt that I will even rent Modern Warfare 3. Holy shit I'm having fun playing this game. Everything about this game appeals to me at my core. If you want to win, you have to coordinate and move as a team. The hit detection is awesome, you actually have to aim high over long distances to snipe, fully destructible buildings, tanks, choppers, I can't get enough. Sorry Activision, I just can't go back to Modern Warfare now that I've tasted the awesome that is Battlefield.
Right now CoD takes up about 90% of the shooter market. The CEO of EA is saying Battlefield is going to knock CoD down to about 70-60% this year. I feel that 30% is probably being optimistic, and that BF will take around a 15-20% share. He goes on to say that CoD will cease to be as a franchise in 2-3 years. Most of this is probably just puffing. Beyond that, I feel like the shooter market is large enough to sustain more than one game. Black Ops sold 15 million copies (12 on Xbox, 3 on PS3). That was almost entirely in the USA too. That is plenty of consumers to support a such a schism. Not to mention the market would be bolstered by people buying both games or if EA and Activision find a way to successfully market these franchises outside the of USA.
I have no doubt the market is large enough and I wasn't starting a BF vs. MW debate. I'm simply saying that after having played BF:BC2 for half a weekend the amount of enjoyment I've had effectively removed any desire to purchase or rent MW3. Again that's due in large part to my proclivity for enjoying teamwork and communication in my online shooter. Ask anyone I've ever played with the main thing I do with my mic in MW2 or BlackOps is use it to shit talk, berate and/or incite the other team into full on gamer rage.
Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like that. Your comment was just a way to segue into the other point. I think what you said does bring out an interesting point that's going to characterize each game and the type of person who's going to purchase them. Tactical teamwork: BF. Run and gun/slayer type: MW.
Yeah, count me in the Battlefield 3 crowd, started playing when it was BF1942 and the modern combat mod. Just gotta learn how to properly fly the helicopters again and i will be golden.
I player all the BF games and played BC2 until I hit level 50 and had almost all the platinums. Though it's a fun game, it's one of the weakest of franchise. The choppers are way overpowered, there's tons of glitch exploits, and the Recon class got nerfed big time in one update. I played BC2 more, but I think BF2 was a better game overall. Better maps, vehicles, and the commander system was an interesting dynamic. As far as CoD, I also own all those games as well an played them to death. Overall, I prefer the depth of BF games, but the CoD games are just good, simple FPS fun. I wouldn't even call them actual competitors. All of the "Me too" shooters that come out are more CoD fodder than BF. On another note, just picked up Deus Ex Revolution, and my dear god this game awesome.
Care to elaborate? I've been tempted to pick up a copy, as I'm a fan of cyberpunk RPG's and Dues Ex looks a lot like one of my favorites, Shadowrun, but there are just so many other games coming out in the next few weeks that I want more.
I've played about 5 hours through Deus Ex: HR. I've turned myself into a computer hacking silenced pistol wielding Angel of Death. The amount of depth so far has been incredible. This is the sequel that the original game deserved. It's like they took everything about the first game and made it better. Inventory management like the first, but you can actually rotate the goddamned items. Even ammo takes up space. Instead of finding augmentation cans in the first, your XP goes towards unlocking them. The different augs almost make it seem like there's a limitless amount of ways to play. You want to go in guns blazing? Sure. Go ahead. Want to sneak in? You can do that to. Want to talk your way in? Hell, why not? This game, provided Diablo 3 doesn't come out this year, is the frontrunner for Game of the Year. Go and get this. Now. Stop reading this post and buy it.
Agreed. This game is much better than expected and washed the bad taste of Invisible War out of my mouth. It actually feels like you're playing the first game mechanically and everything is done so well. With a great variety of strategies at hand, you approach any situation the way you want and it can pay off in different ways. The aug system, weapons, and game mechanics are all sleek and not clunky. Another bonus is all the little homages to the coming events in the first game. My only complaint is the dialogue audio seems a little buggy, at least on the PS3 version. Also, the talking animation of the NPCs could have been much better, as theorem movements seem poorly animated. One of the common complaints I've seen in many reviews is the forced boss battles, despite your strategy throughout the rest of the game. I understand the point, but in the end, it's a video game and they need to progress the story. It doesn't really bother me, but I get it. Overall, it's a great game and was worth waiting for. Well worth it. 9/10
At the risk of sounding like an old man, there is such thing as too much detail in a video game. NCAA 2012- all I want to do is play a season with my alma mater. I don't want to coach a game, play the campus hero, or play a 1 button game- whatever the fuck that is. I have no interest in changing the color of my player's shoelaces or creating a family lineage. You're charging for a new game that's essentially a 3 year old engine with a different roster and a bunch of shitty add-ons nobody wants. But damn it, I still play it. 9/10
