Just so I don't fuck up my new PS3 like I did with the old PS2's... Playing blu rays on it is ok right? Because the ps2 was supposedly a DVD player but playing DVDs on it fucked it up, but with the games being blu ray disks as well there's no worry about my new system breaking?
The PS3 is pretty much the standard against which all Blu-Ray players are judged, and that capability is a major selling point of the system. I haven't seen evidence either way, but it has worked just fine for me in the 3? years I've owned one and been watching blue rays on it... You should be fine.

I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me, but I can't play for shit in MW2. I was finally getting to the point where I was playing well a couple nights ago, finishing with more kills than deaths and picking up 5-6 kill streaks consistently. I played last night and tonight, and I've had to just give up both nights after about 45 minutes because I was so pissed. I just quit now, I was at 0-11 in team deathmatch. I feel like I'm a half second behind everyone, I get off a shot or two, but I'm already dead. Half the time on the killcam, it looks like I never got a shot off, or they just whizzed by on either side. I'm at the point right now where I don't want to play again. I can't even get a goddamn UAV lately, even with hardline. That fucking sucks.
I hit a wall last week with MW2 and was just getting my ass handed to me, but ive just kept playing and not taking it so seriously and now I'm usually in top 3 every match i play. earning the maps is half of the battle. Knowing where people are going to come from and where they tend to hide is so massive in some of the maps. Also figuring out the correct setup to use also helps. I used that javilin trick for like 2 games and got so bored, its funny the first few times and then its just gets stupid running all around and dying immediately.
I've managed to hit a wall too, and it's infuriating. I was getting 7+ kill streaks routinely (and a couple chopper gunners) for the first 45 or so ranks, and then all the sudden I'm struggling to break even on my k/d in matches. I changed TVs from a 50 at my folks' place to a 40 inch at my house so maybe that has something to do with it, but my overall k/d ratio has dropped from almost a 1.5 to barely a 1.2. I also feel like I'm just a bit slow somehow, or like I can never see the people before they see me. The only guns I can reliably do well with are the RPD and strangely the UMP45 - everything else I get my ass handed to me. It doesn't help that on half of these maps (the rainy one, the snowy one, that godawful estate map) you need a thermal scope to even be able to make out where the bad guys are. Maybe I just need to adjust my brightness or contrast or something. But goddamn is it annoying.
Gave it another try tonight and did better. Still can't get a 6 kill streak, but at least I'm getting counter-UAVs pretty regularly. My problem was that I was trying to be too aggressive, and the worse I did, the more pissed off and aggressive I got. I got on tonight, adjusted my class a little bit, and consciously tried to slow myself down. I also switched from Ground War back to regular Team Deathmatch. Didn't do too bad, I never ended up with a ton of kills, but the last match I finished 12-8, which is a lot better than I've been doing lately. It also helped that I finally unlocked the AUG Hbar.
I can't stand ground war. I tried it for the first time tonight and ended up reporting like 6 people for repeatedly doing that stupid fucking javelin glitch. So I switched to free-for-all and somehow went from being an average player to a magical god of death. It also helped that the people I was matched up with were super cool and laid back. It was the most fun I've had with it in a while.
I'm going to take a break from Call of Duty for a while. I saw 1 nuke in the first month of playing and last night I saw 7 in one hour. Apparently there is some stupid fucking glitch and it's ruining games. Hopefully in a week or so when I come back to it, they will have fixed that shit.
Don't know if it's a glitch or what, but it's mostly just from people using the right combination of killstreak rewards. Harrier Strike -> Chopper Gunner -> Tactical Nuke. I thought that your killstreak reward kills wouldn't count towards your actual streak, but apparently some do. See this video: I played for a while tonight and didn't see a single javelin glitcher. Maybe I just got lucky. From what I've heard, it's still really bad on PS3 because they're not banning anyone for it. I have only played free-for-all like twice, and did horribly both times. Maybe I'll give it a try again.
I've noticed I have been very streaky with this game lately. Last night on Ground War I went 4-10, followed by 34-2, 44-4 (with a 29 Kill Streak, but no Nuke equipped!), then I ended with a 1-16. The best part was the 44-4 and 1-16 were the SAME MAP, with only three people leaving between rounds. I don't understand it at all. I'd blame latency, but then I'd be that guy.
Does anyone know exactly which killstreak rewards count towards further killstreaks? I know for certain care package kills don't, but other than that it seems kind of arbitrary. For example, I had Predator->Pavelow->Chopper Gunner selected as my killstreaks, and Predator counted towards my Pavelow, and when I got my Pavelow I thought I'd sit back and let it get Chopper Gunner for me, but no matter how many kills it got I didn't get Chopper Gunner. Ideas? As for the nuke, I was playing with someone who went 24-0 (hardline) for 2 games in a row and got the nuke each time, but then on the next game he did terrible. I think he went 24-24. I mean, not bad overall, but compared to how he was doing I do not understand how someone can fluctuate that much. (Actually, I can because I do it all the time, but I assumed that was because I suck and am not good enough to get the nuke anyway...)
I do that quite often to be honest. Couple days ago I went 43-3 on Terminal and then had a 25-1 on highrise, but as soon as we got to a map with grass and trees I was putting scores up like 10-5. 6-2. Especially the map they remade from COD2 I believe, Wasteland? Snipers paradise, and I refused to use a sniper so I end up getting wrecked because I can't see anyone with their ghillie suits. One game I ended up like 5-15. I think if you try to hard to be good, you end up making mistakes. I kinda just go with the flow, If I'm having a good session then I'll be more alert, etc. But If I'm doing terrible, I'll switch to the riot shield and run around bashing the shit out of people just being a little pain in the ass. Gets me some good laughs and lightens the mood usually.
Pavelow does not count towards your killstreak, which is stupid because because it's just a helicopter that is harder to take down, yet "cobras" count towards your killstreak. Everything counts for killstreaks except anything gotten via care package or emergency drop, and pavelow (it's a glitch I think.) There is no glitch for getting a nuke. Killstreaks generally add to your killstreaks, just like airstrikes contributed to getting a helicopter in MW1. Shit, in the beta, care packages counted towards killstreaks. People were just doing Care Package --> Emergency Drop --> Tactical Nuke and hoping for helicopters and AC130's. As for those claiming that they are sucking now, keep in mind the higher level you are, the higher level the people are that you're paired with. For the fluctuating part, I think there's a different mentality for getting a nuke than just playing normally. If you're going for a nuke the focus is to not die. If you're not going for a nuke, then it's just to win the game normally, which means dying for capture points, bomb placements and headquarters.
I don't think this is true. I can join and leave lobbies a few times, and go from being the only person under 50 (I'm at 32) to being with 5 people at 35 or below. It seems completely random to me. The only thing that xbox live does to even things out is try and split people between the teams, it doesn't match you with people at your level.
I'm playing on PS3, but it's probably the same matching system. Yes the matching system does that for sure. I also noticed that I am very rarely playing with people under level 40 while I'm sure they're playing their games with few people over level 40. Perhaps a mix of both? They're not mutually exclusive.
That is stupid, but it's probably because the Cobra sucks balls compared to a Pavelow. Even on open levels with little cover, Cobras (for me at least) seem to only get like 1/4 the kills a Pavelow gets (and 1/2 the kills of a well-placed Harrier), if it gets any at all. Seriously, I've had Cobra's get 0 kills for me way more often than I would expect, but Pavelows are always worth at least a few kills. If that's the way things are supposed to be, then I can see why it wouldn't count toward killstreaks since it is so much better, but yeah, that is pretty stupid. I dunno, that doesn't seem to be the case to me, nor was it with COD4. I still get paired with people who are way higher or lower leveled than me. Not to mention that I'm not sure how it accounts for Prestige, because I hate getting paired with people on their third Prestige but are technically near my level, so I play with them even though they're obviously going to be far better than I am.
I think it depends on the game type you're playing as well. I've noticed that playing regular team deathmatch I get matched with a lot more lower level people. If I switch to Ground War, there are a lot higher level people. Headquarters and Domination seem to have the highest level people when I'm playing. No matter what last night, I was getting paired with a lot of guys on Prestige, and they all kicked my ass.
Also keep in mind gamer "zones" in xbox live (recreation, pro, family, and underground). The game will generally match you with people in the same zone you choose. I switched mine from pro to recreation recently and have noticed far less kids and e-toughguys. I don't know if that's just the luck of the draw with people I've been matched with, but it's been pretty noticeable. Just think about the type of people who are going to set their videogame profile to Pro, compared to people who set theirs to recreation. I almost want to set mine to family now and see how it goes. That's assuming anyone with the family setting even plays MW2. I just imagine underground being a total shitfest though.
I forgot all about the "Gamer Zone" thing. No wonder I was getting so pissed off, apparently I set mine to Underground when I first signed up for Xbox Live. Holy shit does Recreational make a big difference. Thanks for mentioning that.
