The reviews for Uncharted 3 are simple. Do you want more of Uncharted, the characters and the adventure just fine tuned and awesome? 10/10. Do you want more of Uncharted with a completely new gaming aspects, different structure, harder puzzles and less handholding? 8/10.
I just beat Uncharted the other day on hard with a play time of 7 hours 56 minutes. It showed that around 40 minutes of that time I was idle. Extremely short game, so rent it if you plan on skipping out on the multiplayer.
It looks like CoD: Elite is going to blow BF3's Battlelog out of the water. I don't know if it changed much from the beta, but Battlelog didn't do much for me. CoD: Elite looks much more like what Bungie has been doing for years with the Halo games, which is great. I love how you can set up your load outs from your phone or your browser while at work, and the facebook connectivity stuff while in game doesn't look bad either. I usually am automatically against anything that has to do with facebook invading more stuff, but the ability to see what friends I have that are playing, that I may not have on my xbox live friends list, will be pretty nice. I know someone will bring up how you have to pay for elite and how shitty that is, but from what I can tell the only features you get for paying is clan leveling stuff, free DLC, tournaments and competition stuff, and all that pro strategy stuff. All the good stuff that I would want like load out access, heat maps, friend connectivity, etc will be in the free version.
I picked it up at a RedBox last night and played it for probably a little over an hour, I wasn't very impressed with the little bit that I played. The movement seemed very clunky and when I couldn't control the camera myself I had no idea where I was going. The first 10 minutes of Uncharted 2 had me completely hooked, so far Uncharted 3 doesn't seem to follow suit. I realize an hour is not very long but apparently it's 1/8th of the game.
I did. It was easy, gave pretty decent money, and if you get the BB gift card, they'll raise the amount that they give you.
If anyone is still on the fence about MW3, or just haven't ordered it yet, if you preorder now from Amazon you can get a $25 credit towards a 12 month xbox live gold subscription. Definitely sealed the deal for me since my gold subscription is expired.
Yeah it seems like almost all the MW3 deals this week concern cheaper Xbox Live. It makes sense, but meh. I think I saw somewhere that Best Buy will give you an extra 40% value for your trade ins when you purchase it. That might be of interest to the person inquiring earlier about trading in to Best Buy. I don't know if anyone here watches/listens to it, but I forgot how much I absolutely love Feedback on G4.com. Just a fun listen for an hour every week. Last week Matt Keil made an interesting point that I'm embarrassed to say never occurred to me. If you're an achievement whore, like I am, the best time to get the multiplayer achievements is on the first day because everyone else needs them just like you and no one is so leveled up that it is too difficult. I've almost religiously played the single player version of a game as much as possible before going into multiplayer. I might have to switch that around now, however.
So I called BB and they told me they'll buy back games only if I bought them from BB and I have the receipts. Whaaaaa?? Anyway, I brought some games to trade in today hopefully for the last time at GameStop. I ended up selling 2 to coworkers. Feel pretty good about not selling them to GameStop.
That person was full of fucking shit. You can go in there and trade it in without receipt no problem. What a joke.
Best Buy Trade-In site What I've found works best is to get your trade-in figured out before you walk in the store. You can get the details set and printed out through that site. Then just walk into your store and talk to the geek squad guys (they're the ones that ran it at mine). Good luck.
Buying back games and trading in games is different. Buy back = "I bought this here and didn't like it," so I think the terminology screwed that up. The other thing might be that your best buy location doesn't do trade in, but I thought they all did, now. I plan to trade in a LOT of games pretty soon. I have quite a few PS3 games I know I'll never play again, so why bother hanging on to them? If I'm going to end up dropping $300 on new games this year (and I should spend that easily), I'd better trade some old ones in.
Well fuck me. I already traded them in. Got 28 for Black Ops, Madden 11, Soul Calibur IV, and Killzone 2. Then sold MW2 and Fallout 3 for 5 each to coworkers. Plan on selling to MVC3 and 2K11 also. Then no more GameStop for me. Just gotta get MW3 and I'll let it slide. I probably talked to the wrong people at BB.
If anyone is looking to save some cash on BF3 or MW3 (on PC), then I recommend buying the Russian versions. I just got RU keys for both games. MW3 requires no extra action on my part to play in english. BF3 requires downloading and executing a patch for the language files. The total cost was 30€ (instead of 120€ on Steam/Origin).
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is the shit. Like MW2, just better! People are giving first impressions in the CoD addicts thread.
As did I. I'm pretty excited even if it is only for three days because I really want to try the game out before I had to buy it and realize I wouldn't like it. And I'm pretty sure I won't like it considering it's looking to be a casual pve carebear cock suckfest. But I'll reserve my judgment.
