Ahhh I am in video game heaven! I went 38/0/10 with Twitch. Omgomgomgomgomg. The new masteries/well deserved champ nerfs/flash nerfs are friggin sweet. I love how responsive Riot is to their fan base. Also bought Skyrim yesterday. I'm an Orc Warrior specializing in dual wielding. It took me a laughably long time to get to the top of the mountain where you learn shouts. How the heck do the spells and stuff work? Do I just never use them since I'm melee? Do shouts and my Beserker ability use the same slot? I love stealing everything that isn't bolted down. It cracks me up that you can lower the bounty on your head by killing all the witnesses.
I'm getting this game Friday (My birthday, and my wife is making me wait, damn it) and I absolutely cannot wait. I am getting every single bit of work I have done by Friday so that I can devote as much of my weekend as possible to AC: Revelations.
I wear the archmage robes to be sexy, but if you get your smithing an enchanting up to higher levels you can break the game as a battlemage. Shitloads of armor coupled with mana regen (or better, -spell cost) enchantments.
In Skyrim, how the fuck do you figure out what an ingredient does to make a fucking potion? It's driving me nuts. Do you have to buy recipes? Everytime I scroll on ingredients, all four qualities are 'unknown.'
I've accidentally eaten a whole bunch of the ingrediant, sometimes poisoning myself pretty badly or getting injured, and that seems to tell me one of the four. I upped my difficulty and I'm still doing pretty well, mana regen seems slower as the game gets harder.
Alchemy is my favorite thing in the game so far. I've gotten a lot of recipes mainly by blindly combining X, Y and Z. Most recipes have the third ingredient being optional (so don't bother with it if you're trying to make a known recipe), but I include it in these tests just to increase my chances of a reaction. Z is usually bone meal or salt or something else I can find cheaply and readily available. Or you can take the easy road and check out http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Alchemy_(Skyrim). I'm content with my trial and error method so far. ========== I prefer the third person view for my melee class. I switch to first if I need to do some archery. ========= As for mobs leveling, they don't scale up with your character's level according to this XPlay review. I suppose that means at some point you can work your way up to soloing a giant. I can't remember where, but I thought I read somewhere that the dragons do scale up with you however. According to this page, enemies in dungeons have a minimum and a maximum level. When you go into a dungeon, the enemies are set at that level (say 10). If you find it too difficult, you can leave and try again later when you are stronger, but the enemies will remain at the level of your original visit. Thus, you'll now be a level 15 fighting level 10 enemies. ========= I'm trying to save up and buy a house right now. I have severe problems with carrying capacity. I'm also trying to raise my enchanting though, which means disenchanting items instead of selling them. Oh well. I've realized that, in the beginning, shields do dick-all against magic. I think once I get the "Elemental Protection" perk (shields reduce frost, fire and shock damage by 50%), that things will be so much easier for me. At least I have myself a pimpin' handcrafted complete set of dwarven armor right now, that I have also fully upgraded. Spoiler One last nit to pick, I wish there was an easier way to view my quest log. The thing is so long now, and similar to Antonio Cromartie's children, I can't remember all the quests by their given names. And I have just as many "main" quests now as I do "misc." I kind of wish there was some kind of folder system, based on where you received the quest. I know that, for me, it would be much easier. "I can't remember the name in this laundry list of quests, but I do remember getting it from the guy at the market in Solitude."
I feel like with all the different games out and everyone talking about different games, we should preface our post with the name of the game we're talking about, because this shit is getting confusing. Anway... Skyrim I'm finally feeling much more confidant in combat. I'm wearing robes with +mana/regen enchants so I can cast more stuff. My destruction is getting up there two and I've started using conjuration to summon flame elementals, which helps a lot. Also, having a companion is a huge help, imagine that. I am still tempted to put some points in smithing so I can make that badass looking deadric armor, and get my enchanting maxed out so that I can enchant it with the same, or better, stats that are on the good mage robes.
This might help you, and also those of us like me who haven't purchased Skyrim. It's basically a way to plot your build before you actually do it.
Skyrim Log: I just got blackout drunk with some guy, woke up on the compete opposite side of the map after apparently trashing a temple, and am now tasked with figuring out what else happened. If Mike Tyson and a baby named Carlos show up, I won't be surprised.
Portal I bought The Orange Box and Portal 2 just after it released, and I finally started playing the original. I've got a smile on my face the whole time. It's so fun.
I. Want. This. Quest. Where did you start it? I'm level 17 now and solo'ed my first giant in one of the Daedric quests. The way to beat them is to power attack with your melee weapon then use the whirlwind shout to quickly get away before they swing back. Lather, rinse, repeat.
There will be a guy at an inn (no specific one, it is random) who challenges you to a drinking contest. Accept his challenge. It winds up being a pretty extensive, and very fun, quest line. I got married to the girl in Whiterun who needed a mammoth tusk to become a trader. It's great. She cooks me dinner and gives me a portion of her sales in gold.
I'm currently maxed difficulty doing some quest that involves finding shards of an amulet. I've now got a back to back boss fight against three difficult bosses. I don't think I'm near high enough level (15). I've also bought my first house! Now, I've got an empty house, with a bed and storage locker that will allow me to leave my hundreds of pounds of shit that I find all over Skyrim.
Hoarders: Skyrim Edition would be a huge hit. I stored so much worthless shit at my house you'd probably find a dead baby buried under it all.
Minecraft is now available for the iPhone, and is coming to Android if it's not already there for $7. All I've heard is good things about this game and now that I can have it in my pocket I'm probably going to have to make the purchase. I'm sure it won't be quite as good as the regular PC version but I've never played that so I won't even know what I'm missing.
Skyrim Has anyone tried becoming a werewolf yet? Is it worth it? I'm playing a battlemage with the main focus on destruction/fire. I guess I'll have to up enchantment to enhance my armour, the mana drains way too fast.
