I became a werewolf. I'm okay with it. The main drawback is that you don't get resting bonuses from sleeping, but that meant little to me anyway. I just with you could control the transformation better. I haven't found a way to shift out at will, so I just have to wait until it wears off. That's kind of annoying.
I got the werewolf form and I never use it. I'm also playing a battlemage type, I've got Elven light armor right now that I enchanted to reduce my destruction cost by 100%, so I can spam fireballs all day long and just spend mana on conjuring minions. Once I get enchanting to 100 and can put two enchantments on a piece of armor, I'll get my resto to free cast too so I can heal and use wards with no worries as well. I would say that is a little over powered, but I plan on upping my difficulty level. When enemies can 1-2 shot you, you almost need to be that over powered.
This is pretty cool. I typically find I try my own thing and play around with a throwaway character until I get to a point when I'm comfortable, then start over. Inconvenient, but I find some fun stuff this way.
I went downtown to Eaton Center today and saw a demo booth for the new Zelda game with a couple of actors in costume. The line was kind of long so I didn't play, but from what I saw on screen, it looked good and has me tempted to buy a wii. Here is a photo of the costumes (spoilered for size): Spoiler While looking for winter tires, I managed to discover that kijiji.ca is a good alternative for buying used games from people. I picked up Uncharted 3 and Batman for decent prices, and I might try to resell them after I'm done. Uncharted seems to have taken a page from batman and incorporated a similar melee combat system, I'm enjoying it so far. Haven't tried Arkham City yet.
Pretty funny little article related to Skyrim on Rock, Paper, Shotgun: The Life And Death Of Skyrim’s Lydia
That final cinematic in AC:R was awesome. I liked the way they wrapped up Altair and Ezio a lot, and again, I can't wait for the next installment. I don't see how they will be able to avoid making Desmond the main focus in the next one.
Skyrim: Just got my set of Daedric Armor after figuring out a really neat trick for leveling your smithing skill quickly: Simply find/steal/buy as much iron and leather strips as you can and make iron daggers. Every 10 daggers you create levels your smithing skill once. It took me about a half hour to get my skill up to 90. Ebony and daedra hearts are easy enough to find through vendors after you reach level 25.
The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings is on sale for $16 digital download on Amazon for Black Friday:http://www.amazon.com/Witcher-Assassins-Kings-Digital-Premium/dp/B0051BH6FK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322050941&sr=8-1 This game is an amazing rpg and I really enjoyed playing through it. It isn't as open as Skyrim but you'll definitely like the game if you like Skyrim. For this price, it's hard to pass up. Here's the ign review/video review: http://pc.ign.com/articles/116/1168535p1.html
Skyrim: Felt like I stepped into the a medieval Twilight movie last night. First had to wipe out a Vampire Coven, which infected me with Vampirism and scrambling for a cure, then did the questline in Whiterun where the werewolves made their presence known, thankfully none were name Edward or Jacob or I'd have killed them on principle.
Speaking of which, does anyone not intentionally level up in this game? I'm level 8, knocking out side quests, but I could level up (probably 8-9 times at this point). Any penalty to doing this? Other than not picking perks (though my understanding is they are saved, just can't pick them til I level up).
I don't purposely not level up, but I will withhold leveling up if I am in the middle of a dungeon/keep/whatever for one single reason. If I'm getting low on healing items and I'm pretty deep, I'll level up my health because it instantly and completely fills your health bar.
if you explore EVERYWHERE, when you do level up the enemies might lock into your lower level and be hilariously easy later
How are you guys avoiding leveling up? I feel like there's no way to control it if you're fighting. I mean you pretty much automatically have to level up some sort of weapon/armor skills as well as magic/alchemy to heal. I'm level 23 now and I dread leveling up because shit is getting tough.
They mean the part where you go into the skills menu and pick whether you want to increase your magicka, health or stamina. The reason is because when you make this selection, all these things are restored 100%. So if you're in a pretty tough fight against a boss or lots of enemies, you can pause when your health is almost gone, go to the skills menu, make your selection, and then your health is fully restored. It is pretty handy.
Side note, i haven't actually installed the game yet. But i thought they were talking about leveling up the character, so you could always be at a lower level (ex: lvl 5), so all the dungeons would be locked into lvl 5, then you can go back once you level up and clean up easily.
Started the College of Winterhold at level 4 and became the arch mage at level 10. It is shockingly effective to just walk past all the mini bosses. My items are way disproportionately strong now that I'm starting the main storyline. +250% magicka regen makes dual wielding fire badass.
Went to Walmart to get Mortal Kombat for 28 bucks, find out you can get a combo pack of the Batman games for 28 as well. 3 games for the price of one.
I got my copy of Skyward Sword in the mail from Amazon today. I used a bunch of stored up preorder credits to buy it. Didn't realize that it requires the Motion Plus, which I don't have. No spare money + most stores in town being sold out = no Zelda for WB. Even Walmart.com is sold out!
I picked it up the day it came out and only got like 3 hours in. I don't know what it is, but the beginning of this game is boring the fuck out of me. I absolutely loved Twilight Princess and they say this one is the best Zelda ever made, but I'm really having trouble forcing myself to push passed the horrific dialogue that Nintendo is known for and chasing little fat penguins around a forest. Also, the controls aren't really that awesome 1:1 that everyone claims, which can be annoying when you have to slice a perfect direction.
