Definitely worth $5. It's just over the top mayhem constantly. The story is so forgettable I didn't complete it despite playing for 65 hours. But every one of those hours was awesome.
The last video game that you'll EVER need: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.totaljerkface.com/happy_wheels.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.totaljerkface.com/happy_wheels.php</a>
Try and work on just continuing to shoot at them even when they get close. Use stronger arrows/bows (I got very lucky and found an Ebony bow lying around, but failing that you can grab a free bow during the Dark Brotherhood quest to assassinate during a wedding from the sniper vantage point - just look straight down at the floor at your feet there'll be a decent bow called Findaels End or something along those lines. I packed that bow for most of my game. Poisoning your bow will help a lot too, as will followers. Continuing to shoot will also boost your archery stat that much faster (I'm L34 and my archery is in the high 80s) and allow you to roll through things that much faster. If you guys want to 'powerlevel' a bit, leveling up pickpocketing is hilariously easy. Once you get pretty much any item that bolsters it, most NPCs have a ring, or circlet, or similar that's fairly high value with a decent chance of success. Just keep trying to rob them of the most expensive item you have 80%+ to grab, and you'll gain a skill up every 4-5 successful grabs all the way up to 100 pickpocket. I hit 100 without really noticing just because I wanted to pad my wallet.
Your enchanting skill definitely affects the enchant you put on an item, along with the level of gem you use. When disenchanting, the number on the item means nothing, you are simply unlocking that effect to be used when enchanting in the future. I got a 25% discount on any Valve titles, but it isn't valid until Jan 2nd, so you can't use it in conjunction with any of the holiday sales. I also did a few of the achievements associated with the Holliday Sale to get a few more "gifts", but they ended up being copies of games I already own, like the original portal and Half Life 2.
I've found certain ones quite useful. One of the animal ones comes in handy when I just don't feel like raping another bear or sabercat, just shout and they get docile and on their merry way. Depending on what kind of Dragon you are fighting, the opposite shout i.e Fire Dragon/Frost Shout, can knock his health down considerably. I've found that the teleport/dash shout that you learn from the Greybeards is essential to getting in certain caves/dungeons. I've done plenty of disenchanting and enchanting, mostly it's buffs for your weapons/armor, the only spells I use are healing and firebolt. I'm primarily a sword and board kind of guy.
I play a sneaky / backstabbing character, at level 36 now. My highest skills and most of my perks are in Smithing (100), Sneak (high 80s), one handed (70s), light armor (70s), archery (40s), and I have lockpicking and speech both in the 60s with no perks yet. Smithing is incredibly useful to me - I have the best light armor in the game, and very strong weapons. Being able to upgrade magical gear you find is also neat (with the perk). Some of the shouts are pretty neat - Aura Whisper is very useful (shows the outline of living creatures), Elemental Fury helps finish battles quickly (speeds up attack), the sprint shout is fun (Whirlwind Sprint?), and the rest can be cute, but I don't use them too often. I don't use spells too often - Clairvoyance is neat if you get stuck, healing if your health drops, and transmute makes it really easy to make money smithing. Also, maybe I'm not playing on a high enough difficulty, but now that my sneak is high enough the game gets somewhat silly. Anything I get the drop on (including cave bosses, dragons, and giants) is almost always dead from the backstab, and if they survive, the next dual wield power attack kills them. The only enemies that really trouble me are the stronger spellcasters.
Why has this not been mentioned at all in this thread? Syndicate Plus was one of my favourite games when I was a kid. The Gauss Gun was just tits, as was the Minigun. It's now an FPS though, not a tactical shooter - I'm not sure if a tactical shooter would be able to make it in the PC/PS/Xbox market. Maybe I'll finally get my wish and have a FPS with a fucking plot that lasts longer than 12 hours. I, for one, will be getting this. You know it's going to be good if the Australian Classification Board has refused to classify the game.
I've heard good things about it so far. Also, did you not play Deus Ex: Human Revolution? I know it's not really an FPS in the strictest sense but it's in the first person perspective and you can definitely run and gun if you want to, although I thought it was much more fun doing the stealth approach.
I watched the gameplay trailer that went up on PSN awhile ago. I wasn't superpsyched about it. The graphics didn't look better than one of the direct download games that have been coming out like Section 8.
Well, I'm boned. Level 40 and no other way to continue the main story line because my quest glitched. I need to talk to this guy named Esbern, hiding in the Ratway Warrens. The guy just tells me to fuck off. Every other character connected to him won't even mention him. Ffffffffuck. I was really enjoying this game, too.
Oh Jesus. Something like that happened to me in New Vegas and I never finished. I hadn't heard of that happening in Skyrim yet though.
It might be happening to me, for the azure quest, for the black soul gem or what ever. I had to go to winterhelm(or what ever) by the mages college and find someone who knows about this guy that studies the stars. Well the first guy i run into is this guy, so he tell me what i need to do, but i didn't find anyone that knew of him first, so that part of the quest didn't checked off, but he still told me what i needed to do.
I haven't played that yet, though I would like to get it at some point. Stealth is fun but sometimes you want to just shoot shit up, you know?
Re: Re: the be all end all video game thread I finally started playing Portal 2 a couple days ago. Hilarious and fun. How does the co-op work? Do you each have your own gun and portal set or you share somehow?
I had this happen too and it's apparently a known bug. Extracting the VoiceExtra.bsa file as detailed here worked for me.
