Looking for game recommendations. I'm not really a big gamer, and I don't follow much of the gaming industry. Here's the deal: I'm pretty busy most of the time and tend to play games in short chunks (15-45 minutes). This means I have little patience for a lot of cut scene story telling, long exposition, or games that have a lot of time consuming aspects to them like travel or spending 20 minutes looking for the right button or key. I tried Skyrim and it was fine, clearly a well made game, but the reality was that it just didn't work well in the way I usually play games. On the other hand, I enjoyed, say, Crysis 2 because it was packed with action, and I could play for 20 minutes, jump out, and not feel like I had a lot of wasted time, nor did I lose anything if I didn't play it for a week and jumped back in. I enjoy stealth/sniper aspects to games as well. My primary way of playing Crysis was stealth kills, or cloaking, sniping and running for cover. Oh, and cool atmospherics count for a lot: the original Crysis had some of that, I thoroughly enjoyed both Alice games, and I really liked Assassin's Creed. Suggestions?
I play games a similar way sometimes - I will say Skyrim eventually sort of becomes this, where you raid one dungeon and are 'set' - and also can utilize the stealth aspect, but its 10 hours of game to reach that point and I get if that's not for you. I've been hearing fairly solid things about the new Syndicate, and that might be a worthwhile route. From a few months back, Deus Ex: The Human Revolution should fit your atmospherics and ability to sneak, but I'm unsure of its pacing If you want to go older, Half Life 2 is basically a must play.
Portal 2 single player will let you do the sit and go style of gaming you want and still be a lot of fun. It's a different kind of game as it's more of a man vs. environment puzzling game, but you do need reflexes and problem solving and it is possibly the funniest game I have ever played. PS3 and PC Infamous was pretty good, though the sequel has been out for awhile so it might be worth jumping in on what is probably an enhanced version though I haven't played it yet. Both are a sandbox game, like Assassin's Creed, with crazy lightning powers and decent story. PS3 at least Batman: Arkham Asylumn and/or Arkhma City are great stealth/sniping games, but you would need to play them for longer sittings. PS3 and PC at least (I don't own an xbox 360) God of War 3, for PS3. No stealth, but action puzzles and just awesome combat. You have to fight your way to save points so not sur eon the timing, but the game is good enough to play a little longer and if you don't play for a week you should be fine.
Which platform are you playing on? PC? If so, I'm going to plug some indie games that are definitely worth a try: Bastion. It's a top-down action game, where you run around and smash stuff with your hammer (among other things). The music, narration and visuals are brilliant and the gameplay doesn't disappoint either. Spoiler Trine (1 and 2). A platformer where you switch between 3 different characters to navigate the world. The visuals are stunning. Spoiler Super meat boy. A mix of platformer and puzzle games. Fun gameplay and challenging levels. It's also one of the most frustrating games ever made. The end levels had me breaking stuff around the house, but it's still a great way to pass some time. Spoiler Gemini Rue. A point-and-click adventure game with shitty graphics and a great story. Spoiler If none of those sound like your kind of thing then Portal 1/2, Dead Space 1/2, Batman Arkham Asylum/City or Prototype should fit the bill. All should allow jumping in for a quick fix.
Sorry, yes, PC gaming. Also, both Portals were awesome. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check some out.
Gearbox just released the Borderlands 2 Launch Date trailer. I loved the first one, and Gearbox knocked it out of the park with their DLC for it. I know what game I'll be playing this fall.
Anyone play Syndicate yet? I'm thinking about picking it up either today or tomorrow, The girlfriend will be visiting her parents Friday through Tuesday, so I'm going to have lots of free time and I need something more than MW3 to fill it. Of course I have a nice list of games that I haven't touched yet, I still want to play Gears 3, Dark Souls, AC:Revelations, Saints Row 3, Kingdoms of Amalur, maybe FFXIII-2 (I enjoyed the first one well enough, and I hear this one is a bit better), The Darkness 2, and I want to play the Shadow of the Colossus HD Remake. Decisions, decisions...
Ziggs is my go-to AP ranged. Fizz is my favorite though, i can destroy people with him. When playing Fizz i regularly come away with over 20 kills in a game.
Fizz looks fun, but I'm not a fan of AP melee characters. Just too much of a worry for me. Everyone says Mordekaiser was nerfed, but I played with him again and he just requires another build. I wrecked with him and using other people's souls. It works fantastic.
So after a long hiatus (mostly due to frustration) I finally dove back into Dark Souls. I don't know if it is because it is so much later and more people have the game, or of I was ludicrously under-leveled before, but I had way more chances to play online than I did previously. I quit before because I couldn't, for the life of me, get through some of the areas, and I couldn't find anyone to help me, either. This time, there are a lot of people, and I've been continually fighting one boss over and over to farm humanity and souls to level up. Really only two bosses left to beat before I finish my first play through and start a second.
I spent a lot of yesterday playing UFC Undisputed 3 with some friends on PS3 - it was a lot of fun but the load times were absolutely terrible. Anyone know if the load times are better on 360?
http://beefjack.com/news/killzone-3-f2p ... ltiplayer/ The online component of killzone 3 is going to be downloadable and free to play starting on Feb 28. There will be a level cap, but you can pay 15 bucks and get this removed. I haven't played this game since the beta was released, but the concept is a great idea. If this is successful, it may encourage developers to release multiplayer as a stand alone product for a reduced price.
Not really a game question, but I am looking for a new PC chair. I want a high back chair, high enough to rest my head on it[I am 6' 3"],adjustable height arms, and good lower back support. Anyone have suggestions? I've spent some time looking on Amazon and other sites but it's hard to buy a chair without actually sitting in it. This chair is what I used to have and I'd like something very similar.
I remember having issues with people using the cloaking and disguises, but I'll be giving the game another try. If this brings life to the community, 15 bucks is a great deal.
Well that's part of the game. Snipers get cloaks, Infiltrators can disguise themselves as your team. You just need to crosshair check them, depending on their level, it'll eventually show. Its what makes the game the fucking shit. On top of the fact you have Operations, Warzone and Guerilla Warfare modes. One of them is like a conquest mode where the best players get tossed into a cutscene. Then Warzone is fun because its the best of 5 mix of TDM, CTR, Domination, and VIP protection. Guerilla Warfare is just straight TDM, but with the strategies of spawnpoints, holding down turrets, the occasional battlemech and ammo crates, shit gets real. The problem I had with the game is that the community wasn't big. You'd get in games where you'd be face raping or getting face raped, not a lot of last second heroics.
Well, that ended up being somewhat of a disappointment. The game play was fun enough, but I started it Saturday afternoon and ended up beating it Sunday afternoon, and I don't think I even put 8 hours into it. The story was ho-hum too, so I'm kind of regretting buying that one at full price. I'm even thinking about trading it back to best buy.
I actually just finished my first play through and I am into my second. I am SL 92, and I just rang the second bell to go into Sen's Fortress. I was really annoyed with some of the stuff they nerfed, but at the same time, I still managed to get through it. I wasn't using any of the strategies that got nerfed anyway, so it didn't affect me much (except the lightning spear isn't as powerful now, and that was my primary weapon). The final boss beat me like I owed him money the first time I faced him, so I completely changed my strategy. I went and just repeatedly left my summon sign so I could go help fight Bed of Chaos (the boss of Lost Izalith). He is worth 30,000 souls if you're summoned to help. In addition, there is a dark phantom that comes to fight if it is the character's first time, and he is worth about another 60,000 souls. Overall, in about two hours, I had 12 humanity and something like 600,000 souls to go and spend, which I used to max out my pyromancy flame, and got every pyromancy spell I still could. It might be the best place in the game if you want to farm souls and humanity. The boss himself is super easy if you know what you're doing. I also took advantage of all the humanity to hunt for titanite chunks to max out my armor. I finally went back to the final boss as a pyromancer and killed him. Even with all the nerfing, pyromancers are still stupidly strong. Iron Flesh plus combustion allowed me to beat the final boss on my first try with that method. On my second go-round now, and so far I've pretty much breezed through. The only shocking part is that I've found help to summon to fight Quelaana and the Gaping Dragon. I never, ever found help on my second play through of Demon's Souls.
