So, Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii. I've been playing a lot of it lately, and I have to say that I am completely hooked. When I say hooked, I mean hooked in that way that I used to be back in the day when I couldn't wait to get home to play the latest Square game/Final Fantasy. I think I'm right around the 35 hour mark, but I've been doing a lot of side quests and the such, so I hope I still have a healthy chunk of the story left. Speaking of the story, it's been pretty good so far and has promise of getting better in the way that JRPG's do, with the whole "who is this character really, and what the fuck is actually going on here" thing. I have the actual Wii disc, of course, but I've been playing around with it on the Dolphin PC emulator. It gets a little choppy in places, and it took a little bit of work getting it working just right, but damn it looks 10x better at 1920x1080 resolution. Not sure yet whether I'll keep playing on the Wii or the PC Emulator.
Nice. I just learned that game even existed when I was looking up what Yasunori Mitsuda (composer of Chrono Trigger/Cross fame) was up to these days. I definitely want to check it out. Now if I could just sleep until Diablo 3 comes out so we don't have to wait any longer.
There's a free game on Steam called Alien Swarm. It's a 60 degree view top down shooter. It's 4 person multiplayer and it's the funnest game I've played in awhile.
Playstation based Super Smash Bros knock-off? Fuck it, I'm in. Maybe they can get Snake in this also even though Nintendo did it first.
Almost spot on. There'll be multiplayer, but it's going to be competitive and Kratos isn't playable. You'll be a soldier in the Greek/Spartan army and will choose one god to worship (Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, or Ares), which will determine the upgrades available as you level up.
The Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale game sounds neat; as much hate as Smash Brothers gets from hardcore fighting game players (much of it deserved), I think it's a very interesting model for fighters to continue investigating and improving upon. I'm curious about the health bars in the video posted above (different from Smash Brothers) and how they will work.
Probably accurate, but honestly, who cares how famous the characters are? As long as that shit is fun to play, I don't care about anything else.
If they didn't make it health bars instead of damage percentage it would just be the same game with different skins, basically. It's kind of odd though, most of Smash Bros' characters have been Nintendo's IP and sort of made sense throwing them together, this is just kind of confusing. The fuck is Fat Princess?
I will second this; it's one of the best games I have played in years. No, it wouldn't. Smash Bros. has a lot of very advanced, complicated, and deep fighting mechanics hidden underneath its shiny, colorful party game exterior. There is a huge design space there; I would be shocked if the PS3 game adopted even half the systems and meters instead of implementing their own. Speaking of which, there is an enormous difference between various Smash Brothers titles. Ergo, why the people who consider Melee a very good game think Brawl is crap. Hopefully, the PS3 title is closer to the former. A criminally overlooked multiplayer real-time tactical game on the PSN.
I've played all three versions of Smash Bros probably way too much, I know what's under the hub. I just meant from watching the trailer it looks like it plays near enough to the same. Brawl isn't crap, but Melee was better on account of all the floatiness that they added to Brawl. Stupid floatiness.
What I didn't like was their taking away some of the cancels. Lag cancel I could kinda live without, but the change to meteor canceling could suck my balls.
U.N. Squadron for the SNES came in the mail today bitches. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend. I never did beat it in the hardest difficulty setting (I'd always die at the boss right before the final one) so I guess it's time to give it another go.
Played the Diablo 3 open beta weekend. Developed an instant jones and can't wait for the fucking launch. Got so twitchy that I dragged out my old Diablo 2 box set and reinstalled it. Playing through at the moment. 12 years old, still playable.
