Sandy Ravage has made the switch: I went back to BF3 as well, but recently picked up the Metal Gear HD collection and have been playing that. The map Sandy is playing on looks fun because there are no vehicles and you can blow out walls as you go through the corridors. If it weren't summer I'd definitely buy it. I may buy it later if the community is still active.
Eh I didn't do the proper research, but I lost 5 years of my life to Eve Online, you know what they say, "I just wanted a taste." I know what I was getting into. Plus I'm sure the fact I bought into this will carry over into the "finished" project so I'm not regretting my purchase in anyway. The fact they are launching a free to play, MMORPGFPS is really interesting. And yes, it is all those things.
I quit EVE 3 months ago or so. God dam it, i have completely forgot about this game. I have to try very hard not to purchase it.
It's CCP. Need I say more? Every so often I get the urge to resubscribe to EVE. Of course, I also occasionally get the urge to throw myself off a bridge.
If there is one thing about Eve, its that I've learned to never watch the trailers for the new expansions. Those things have the best music, great voice overs and fucking sell you. Before its over your CC is out and you're shouting at them to shut up and take your money. When it comes to the pay to play. Looks like the advantauge of the AURUM is only a time advantage. Either a catch-up or a head start depending on who you go against. They are going to breakout battles in regards to experience points, so you won't be completely fucked if you start a year later than if someone you're going against. I'd tell you to jump on it now Wexton but the shit is only available Thursday-Sunday, and they haven't even implemented a party system yet. The voice-chat was as smooth as a babies ass though, except for the fact you couldn't mute anyone.
My friends and I have been playing DayZ. It's a lot of fun especially in a group. It does take a bit to get used to the game though.
For a while now, I have been playing a lot of Realm of the Mad God. At first, it looks plain silly with its blocky, pixelated graphics. However, it is one of the most unique and consistently exciting experience I have had in a game. Get this; it's a bird's eye view bullet hell MMO shooter. You walk around battling a variety of enemies that can cover the entire screen in projectiles, and kill you in half a second (zero exaggeration here) if they get close. There are difficult dungeons that certain enemies "drop" after dying, a variety of in-game areas, and endless amounts of secrets and treasure. Most characteristically, the game has permadeath. That is, once your character dies, that's it. He's gone forever, as are all the gear he was wearing and carrying. And while it only takes an experienced player about 30 minutes to get to the maximum level, 20, maxing out one's stats through potions (which are difficult to get, and only drop rarely from the most difficult enemies, called "Gods") can take a week and requires superlative play. Yet, all it takes is just two seconds of inattention for that character to die. Either that, or the game's brutal difficulty with some of the Gods and dungeons is a little overwhelming. Luckily, you can press a single hotkey to instantly teleport to the hub area if you're in trouble, or else the game would simply be impossible. I love this combination of brutal difficulty and permadeath in a bullet hell game, and encourage everyone to try it out.
So, I picked up Crusader Kings 2 in the Steam sale, and of course (just as I expected) it's right up my alley. It's a very in depth, 'Grand Strategy' type game, and as I've told several friends so far "this is by far the most fun I've had with a game that looks so boring".
Got Warhammer40k Dawn of War 2 with Last Standalone. It's RTS that uses special abilities, energy a/o ammo to cast them, and a cover system (much like Company of Heroes). This isn't a Command and Conquer know your build order and rush to an OP unit RTS, cover is extremely important and the positioning of your units is key, as well as knowing how to use ranged vs melee units. The standalone is a Last Stand style game wherein you and two other players each control a hero unit with a customizable loadout of weapons and various special abilities/traits, and hold off increasingly stronger waves of enemy forces. Lots of fun, even if there is a shortage of map variety and some of the abilities are almost completely useless, e.g. armor that gives you a massive energy reservoir at the cost of having the durability of wet paper in a sandstorm. The fact that it's set in the Warhammer universe only makes it better. Burn the Heretic and all that.
Any PS3 players want to get in on the Closed Dust 514 beta? I've got two referral codes that work for this weekend only, starting tonight. PM me, first come, first serve. Edit: Make that one code.
Best Buy is having a big sale. Finally got Deus Ex for $10. Wish I hadn't paid $30 for AC:R two weeks ago, though.
FFS i downloaded the dust514 beta everything was going smoothly until i go to pick my name. I wanted to use my name from EVE Harbis(pvp) or Harob(pve) both are taken those are very unique names who the fuck took them.
Anyone playing Day Z? It's a mod for Arma II. I played a tiny bit and ran around in the dark for awhile before getting eaten by zombies. It's like...being in a horror film. Night is incredibly dark and even other players are to be feared. It would be cool to play a server, maybe set up a camp or something.
I played for a while. It was hard at first, but after you get the hang of things it becomes much easier to gear up.
Is anyone here planning to get Counter Strike Global Offensive? I'm interested but have no experience with PC gaming. A friend warned me that the learning curve is steep so I'm a little hesitant, but another friend is trash talking so I'm tempted to buy it just to shut him up.
