Steep learning curve? With Counter-Strike? You rescue hostages or plant a bomb. If that's too much, just kill the opposing team.
Remembering the objective of the game shouldn’t be a problem. What I mean is, as a console only player, I’m used to having regenerative health, playing on a controller with aim assist, and slower game play due to a general requirement to aim down the sights. With the new Counter Strike, all of this changes and I will run into guys who have been playing the hell out of these maps for years. They’ll have superior map knowledge, strategies, and skill, so closing this gap will be a difficult task. The Youtube videos I’ve seen make Counter Strike look very unforgiving compared to any console shooter.
I watched a couple Let's Play videos on it on IGN and was sold, holy shit is this game fun, total survival horror. I"m hooked. I don't know how to set up a friends list or anything but I'll totally play with anyone on here, since let's face it most of the people in game will shoot you in the face and rape your corpse given half a chance and a quarter of an opportunity.
This isn't related to actual games, but to consoles running hot. Does anyone else have a problem with their ps3 running super hot? We have a glass doored media center and I have a computer cooling fan hooked into the usb port on the ps3, AND we have to leave the door open while it is in use, and it still gets pretty hot in the cabinet. We took it out and set it on top and in front of the TV for awhile but that finally drove me crazy enough to put it back underneath. What's the best ]way to deal with hot machines in an enclosed place?
You need more air flow, i know i have my tv stand completely open, if the temperature in the house gets about 72-75, the second speed of the air fan usually kicks in and out trying to keep it cool.
My PS3 runs pretty hot once it's been on more than about 15 minutes. I wouldn't even think about putting it in an enclosed space unless I was trying to bake something EZ-bake oven style.
I guess I was hoping someone had some kind of device for cooling. The laptop fan isn't really helping. I might take the glass out of that one door.
The problem with that cabinet is that it's completly enclosed. All that chill pad is going to do is circulate hot air, which wont drop the temp much at all. taking the glass out should allow some cool air to circulate and actually drop the temp. Is the back side of the cabinet solid wood? If it's just one of those cardboard deals, you could aways find a smallish case fan and set it into the cardboard which should give some nice airflow while keeping things looking nice. You can find a good case fan that runs pretty quiet on the cheap online.
For those interested in Counter Strike Global Offensive, if you pre-order the game you get 10% off and access to the beta starting this Tuesday (the 14). That’s a full multiplayer game with (I think) 16 maps, for 13.50. I ordered a low-end gaming mouse that should arrive in a couple of days. A co-worker highly recommends the Siberia V2 headset and I think I’ll buy this once I get the hang of the game.
I'm still using the same MX500 that I used when I played CS competitively back in the 1.3-1.6 days. Works just as good as it did then
My only computer is a laptop and I’m used to arching my fingers with the touchpad as I don’t have a mouse.
Anyone else playing Smite? From the makers of Tribes, beta keys are easy to come by as all beta testers can invite friends. It's pretty fun. 3D League of Legends. There's an element of strafing to it and all skills and auto attacks are skillshots. It reminds me of playing counterstrike, which is always a good thing.
The new DUSt514 update is fantastic. Finally it feels less Alpha and more Beta. Anyone else play the demo for the new madden? The upped the graphics big time, changed the physics and well it feels better if you ask me. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms doing the commentary, and they even do in booth shots. I always say I won't, but we know I will.
Dark Souls for PC is out today. Nothing too special, just a straight up copy-paste port of the console versions, plus additional content. That means locked framerate (30fps) AND resolution (1024x720!). However, this is PC we're talking about, so naturally the rez lock was patched by a fan even before the game was released, and I'm sure we'll be seeing 60fps before long. So, if you missed out on the best game of 2011, here's your chance. But you must have a gamepad. MUST. This game is unplayable with keyboard controls.
So I finally got around to playing Infamous, after it was free on the PS3 debacle last year. Pretty damn good game. Is Infamous 2 similarly free and worth it?
1024. Yes, it's that bad a port. Still not as bad as HALO 1 or some others since. FROM Software basically said "OK, we've never developed PC games before, but you people insist that you want Dark Souls for it. We'll do our best, but only promise the basics". I should clarify, the 1024x720 is what the game will be locked to. It is NOT what your monitor will be locked to. You can still blow it up to whatever you like, but it won't be native support. Just bigger pixels.
