Forza Horizon, anyone? I started playing around 7pm and just finally pried myself away. One of the greatest racing games of all time (not racing sim, just game) was Need for Speed: Underground for PS2. FH is basically NFSU, only with better cars, extremely better graphics, and most of the regular awesome Forza touches (realistic maneuverability/handling, logical tuning upgrades, tons of extra cars, etc). My 360 has been collecting dust since a few weeks after Prototype 2 came out. Now I don't see it going off for the next couple weeks with FH, AC3, and Halo 4....
Borderlands on iPad? This excites me <a class="postlink" href="http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/10/23/borderlands-legends/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/10/23/borderlands-legends/</a>
Dark Souls DLC came out yesterday, and that combined with Assassin's Creed III coming next Tuesday means I will be neglecting my child a bit more for the next few weeks.
Because I have important things to do this week I haven't gotten the DLC yet. How is it? I've also never really been interested in playing AC but I will admit the setting of ACIII has perked my interest. Something about going around assassinating redcoats makes me feel all patriotic and shit.
Not really. It's just a pointless game. All the map tasks are the fucking same, there is no reason to get to a higher level, and you can pvp with the same top gear that everyone else has at an early level, for nothing. It's like gaming communism.
Having a blast with it so far. First of all, it is a pain in the ass to get too. You can't just dive right in. I was VERY lucky to have a save file right at the perfect spot to get it. To get to the DLC area, you have to kill the Hydra in the Darkroot Basin, then kill the golem behind it to save Dusk of Oolacile. Then you have to get a broken pendant from a golem in the Duke's Archives, and return to where Dusk was to finally get in. Luckily I already had the Hydra killed, but didn't save Dusk yet and didn't get to Duke's Archives yet, so I was able to get in quickly. The first boss absolutely kicked my ass the first time I fought him. I also encountered a dark phantom as soon as I went in. There was a LOT of online play in the new area, so that was awesome (especially since I am level 112 and in NG+). Once I got help, I got past the first boss quickly, but that is as far as I have gotten. So far I am way into it, looking forward to exploring the new area. Of course, once Tuesday gets here, I'll switch right up to Assassin's Creed III. Unless we get copies of ACIII at the Video Store on Friday or Saturday, in which case I'll be playing the SHIT out of that this weekend.
I just went through a map where half of the hearts were the same. Not "they feel similar" same, but "this fucking thing is on a loop!" same. "Kill centaurs, clear exploded shot, disarm traps, differentiating quest characteristic X." That said, I'm really enjoying the whole exploration aspect of it. I'm not quite sure why. I love exploring places in RPGs (where behind every corner there could be a quirky sidequest) or in games like Prototype (where the movement mechanics are awesome), but never in games like this. But now I've spent hours running around the map, looking for waypoints and vistas and I'm not tired of it yet.
I feel you, and I felt the same way....until the last couple weeks of playing it. I got up to level 44 before I was like fuck this noise, I have better games to play. ALL THE HEARTS ARE THE EXACT SAME. It's fucking stupid.
I'm debating getting the Limited Edition of Halo 4. I have the limited edition of almost every other Halo game. I can't quit you, Halo...
I am on the verge of buying a 360 just for this. If you take the plunge, let me know how it is. I lost a whole summer to the original and have played through 2 & 3 on friends systems.
I have a hard time recommending this game to completely new players, as the experiences I had during the beta and right at launch just simply aren't possible to those late to the party. The discoveries and camaraderie in those first several days was refreshing, satisfying and often hilarious. Starting a new character now just doesn't deliver that same level of novelty simply because the shine collectively has worn off as it does with all new things. Having said that, I tend to look at games I play as this: how much value did or do I still get for my dollar spent? In the case of Guild Wars 2, the $68 I spent on this was more than worth it for the fun I've had. In fact, compared to the other titles I grabbed in the last 6 months, $150.00 would have been a steal compared to the value I get elsewhere. The content to price ratio is absolutely massive when put up against all other games I've spent time with, not just comparable MMOs. New content is currently being released, so I'll watch and see. I've been drawn off to other quality games, of which there are WAY too may for anyone with a career / life to get to all of them, but I can easily see myself coming back to GW2 if developer support continues and content is updated relatively often. For anyone who hasn't tried or bought this, make no mistake, this is top shelf stuff. You won't regret spending your money on it. The time you spend or how much you get out of it is up to you.
I understand what you mean, but that's a pretty damning review of an MMO. If the game is no longer fun once the novelty wears off then something is seriously wrong.
It wasn't worth the $60. I've spent $0 on League of Legends and had a thousand times more fun, and the fun isn't wearing off. This is why I am hesitant to ever spend money on a game (GW2 was the first game I've spent money on in about 10 years, not even kidding). There are so many free things out there and old games that I played when I was younger and still find enjoyment in. I know some people like to have the newest, edgiest, most different thing that just came out, but I guess I just have a different philosophy about my gaming experience.
You've bought skins, you've spent money on LoL. I'm pretty sure I crossed the $100 mark with LoL and that's it. No more fucking skins. Jesus christ I sit and think about it and I'm retarded. The whole RP buying process is a scam. You can never spend all your RP back to zero. Then you just have that little amount sitting there taunting you to buy more.
