The plot holes are a lot more glaring in the face value approach (The location of the breath scene, the meaning of the dreams, the strange events with the boy, Illusive Man’s abilities, etc.). I downloaded the extended cut and remember that if you reject the final choice there is some strong evidence in favour of Indoctrination Theory. Spoiler If you accept things as they are, don’t you find it strange and underwhelming that Shepard never has a confrontation with Harbinger? Indoctrinating Shepard has been the goal since ME2. The Reapers, via the Collectors, killed Shepard and then brought him back to life, via Illusive Man, for this purpose. Being resurrected by the Illusive Man was meant to gain Shepard’s trust and try to get to at him from that angle. The original plan for the trilogy’s ending had to do with dark energy. Remember the mission in ME2 when you go to a planet where the sun is unstable due to this energy and if you stepped out of the shade the sun would burn your shields off and could kill you? Well, dark energy had potential to destroy the galaxy and organics were unknowingly on the verge of wiping themselves out. Reapers were designed to harvest and preserve organics in Reaper form when they become dangerously close to doing this. However, the original writer left ME after ME2, so this idea was scrapped. Or so the rumour goes.
Frm what I've read, Bioware has explicitly squashed the theory. I'm midway through a second playthrough now after having replayed ME2. My biggest complaints aren't actually the ending, but rather that the targeting has gone to shit and the forced multiplayer.
Well I'm playing on an unofficial PC version and the multiplayer isn't forced. You just have to do every single thing in the campaign. Clear every single solar system, and have played since the first one. I don't have 100% but I did get the "Best" endings. There are only 7.
That’s disappointing because it fits so well. I hope they have an explanation for all of the plot holes.
I was under the impression that every single player war asset added up to juuuust short of the "breathe" option amount. The fact that Tuchanka ruins a bunch of Citadel missions is a nuisance, but easily avoided on a second play through.
I think its over 4500 you're in the clear. Basically whenever you max out that green bar and only if you select destroy. No idea what you're talking about with the other plot holes. They're only going to do so much. Looking forward to the 4th one. I might need to play on PS3 and run through everything so I don't have to keep putting the game together piecemeal.
You need to get to 4000. From what I've seen, there are 8370 war assets w/o DLC, but some are mutually exclusive so 7500 is the effective max. 7500 x 50% = 3750. There's about another 1000 assets available with DLC, so it can be done in single-player with DLC.
Nice. I'm actually a sucker for grading systems, I like knowing exactly how well I did and trying to beat my scores. I'm okay with the Japanese too. It brings out the weeaboo in me.
I’m admittedly rusty because my most recent playthrough was last year, but off the top of my head: Spoiler Shepard was in space on the Crucible when it was destroyed. How could Shepard have possibly survived that in the breath scene? Starchild explicitly states that Shepard will die under the Destroy option because of the technology in his body that resurrected him, yet Destroy is the only option that can result in the breath scene. What is the meaning of the dreams? Shepard is in flames when he embraces the boy. Starchild takes the form of the boy and tries to make you choose Synthesis or Control.
I have a few ideas. Spoiler I'm not sure if he's in IN the Crucible with that last part. You could be on the other side of the point. So I think that might be a misunderstanding of where he's actually located. He said he will be harmed. Not exactly killed. Part of Sheppard has stuff in it that brought him back but I could see this going either way. I think it could have been a botched idea. Possibly from the commercials where she thinks that boy is the earth she's trying to save. I don't think he tries to make you choose Control. I think synthesis is his biggest push. Also, my biggest issue with the Indoctrination theory is that I think any AI would go for Synthesis. I think pre-emotional EDI would go for it. Legion would go for it, etc. Now if Synthesis wasn't some hidden indoctrination ploy, it really is the best solution. Everyone is happy. Plus if you played Leviathan, it talks about why the Reapers were created. The story sticks through that route.
In more interesting news, the new XBox is being revealed today. Any hopes and dreams you have for the new console? <a class="postlink" href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hub/reveal" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hub/reveal</a>
I've only ever had playstations because they've been around forever and I like the controllers better. Any reason I should switch over that don't involve online gaming or just PS bashing?
The short answer is "No". Fact is that maybe 80% of each console's launch "exclusives" ended up being ported anyway. I have both systems now, and if I had to choose one I'd go PS3 if only for their outstanding support of independent games (Journey alone beats anything on XBLA - except maybe Ikaruga). I'm really getting this vibe that Microsoft is now, what Sony was in 2006. Arrogant, too confident, taking us for granted. I'm watching this reveal with the rest of the world, but as soon as I hear "online-required" or "mandatory kinect" I'm basically sold on PS4. EDIT: XBOX ONE. Glossy black, disc slot drive. Looking more and more like a PS3. Fuck you, "cloud gaming". Now on XBOX ONE: Multitasking! Dear XBOX ONE: I don't care what's "trending". Thank You. Boy they're really doubling down on that whole "center of your world" stuff from the 360's launch. Not interested.
Huh, wonder why they didn't mention any of this at the reveal: <a class="postlink" href="http://kotaku.com/the-xbox-is-not-always-online-but-seems-to-block-used-509077987" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://kotaku.com/the-xbox-is-not-alway ... -509077987</a>
I feel, as a gamer, rather cheated by the whole reveal. I feel they were trying to cater mostly to stay-at-home moms because they know they've sold previous gamers and need to push units to make them more mainstream.
Basically. They spent more time on "Look you can skype, watch movies, watch Wheel of Fortune!" Then like 10 minutes on actual games. And 8 of those minutes was just saying "Only on Xbox One" over and over again. I got to watch the entire thing at work, because we have a search team that works on Microsoft.
My 360 is dedicated to gaming and hbogo. I don't have a kinect because the only workout I want when I'm playing a game is for my thumbs and index fingers. And the gaming "demos" they did show weren't actual game play. The remedy demo didn't even make sense.
You guys all realize that E3 is right around the corner, and will most likely highlight all the new games and exclusives that will be coming out on both launch day, and into the next year? This was just a reveal of the hardware, and a good majority of its features.
