It will probably be like the open world in red dead redemption. Where you can't even do a mission without some random shithead smoking people while they try to complete achievements. You will probably pay a certain amount for the dlc and then it's your to play forever.

I think I figured out why Civ V would play on my older gaming laptop but not my husband's gaming desktop that he built recently. It's probably because his video card is overclocked. It doesn't make any fucking sense to me why that would be the case, but considering everything has been re-installed, everything is updated, etc etc, that is the only thing I have come across that applies to my situation. Civ V always plays the intro content and then crashes out at the loading screen to the desktop with no error message. Anyone have any idea of a way to circumvent this problem?

OK, so the old and new machines are running identical hardware? That's pretty unlikely. Some games simply don't work well with certain models of graphics cards - I could never play games by Sierra in the 1990s because my graphics cards would always have issues with them. It may also be an operating system issue - if you have a 32-bit version of the program and your gaming laptop is running a 32-bit O/S (e.g. Windows XP and some versions of Windows 7, and I believe some editions of Windows 8 are 32-bit too) and your husband's machine is running a 64-bit O/S (which is quite likely since you stated it's a new system), then the game software may simply be incompatible with his setup. I've had several programs that ran on my old PC (which ran XP 32-bit) which will not run on my current machine (which runs Win7 64-bit Ultimate).

If you're running Windows 7 (quite likely if it's a gaming machine, since Win8 sucks the fat one), you could try running Civ5 in compatibility mode. But, in all likelihood, it's simply that the game is incompatible with that graphics card. If you bought the game from somewhere other than Steam or Origin, you could check the game's box to see the list of compatible graphics cards. If there is a manual for the game, or a readme on the game's website, you could check there to see if others have reported the same issue. I really doubt that overclocking is the issue here.

Most of the high-end motherboards marketed here in S.A. don't have integrated graphics - it's mostly the lower and mid-range boards that have that. Can't say if it's the same there, though.

I am. I'm loving it. It's like playing through the last hour or so of Heat. I could always use some people that know what the fuck they are doing if anyone's playing on the PS3...

Has anyone else started playing Saint's Row 4 yet? It's way over the top, even more so than 3, but mother of god is it fun. I played it for about 5 hours straight yesterday to the point that my stomach was in pain because I forgot to eat. I can tell I'll be doing multiple play throughs of this game, just like 3.

Yup! I'm in the middle of a co-op campaign with a buddy. Its insane with all the shit you get to do. But it makes cars and all other vehicles pretty much worthless when you can run at 200 mph and fly as well. I've also played all the previous versions too. What did you make your character look like?

If you haven't played The Last of Us yet, do so. It's going to win game of the year.

Yeah, vehicles are worthless this time around and I hate how you have to collect the power ups, I'll definitely be using cheats for that on my next go around, I hate tedious shit like that. I do like the fast sprint and gliding though, it reminds me of playing Hulk Ultimate Destruction (which is an awesome game by the way).

I'm a lazy shitpile and went with the first default one, I'll probably do something custom on the next play-through. I was too amped at how awesome the game was to spend time customizing.

Not sure if you ever played a game called Crackdown, or Crackdown 2. But this game is a blatant ripoff of that series. You can probably find it on amazon for about 20 bucks or less and its one hell of a good time. Saints Row 4 is The Matrix and Crackdown combined. I'm enjoying it way too much, but the creators were rather lazy in hashing out the story.

My character is a morbidly obese, bearded Asian woman with a Barry White style British accent. Its only mildly disturbing to look at and listen to. In Saints 3, they let me give my character a zombie voice which was fucking hysterical during all the dialogue scenes.

There's a new MMO in town, which is actually a remake of a terrible, terrible old one: FF XIV. They scrapped the original and started almost from scratch. They even went as far as making it canon: the "old world" literally suffered a Calamity and you are now playing 5 years after the fact.

It's...damn good. Coming off the best WoW had to offer, it's hard to talk about this game without sounding like a commercial for it. It does a shocking number of things right. Or maybe not so shocking, given the number of painful lessons they learned last go around.

Does anyone here play clash of clans? It's a pretty laid back RTS type of game for iPhone, basically you build up defenses in your village, build an army and attack other players. You also join clans and donate troops to each other. It's free to play but you can buy upgrades, obviously the players willing to spend dominate the game, which kind of sucks, but whatever.

It reminds me a lot of Travian, just without the devastating consequences of not being plugged in 24/7.

I'm gonna have to rescind that recommendation, based solely on the fact that it has been impossible to log in to this game pretty much since release day.

They didn't plan for such high demand.
They implemented low population limits on their servers (5000!).
They failed to include AFK timers.

So what we have here are marbles being poured through a funnel. If you somehow DO manage to log into one of the few available slots on a server, there is no reason to ever log off again. The game will not boot you for inactivity, so go ahead and park your ass at the Inn for the day, it's no big deal. Fuck the next guy, tho. Apparently there will be some global maintenance tonight that's supposed to fix things, but since there's still no word of adding AFK timers these repairs will amount to nothing besides making the parking lot bigger.

I still give credit to Square-Enix for bringing in a new team to remake the game (it really is outstanding, WHEN YOU CAN PLAY IT), but I wish they'd kept some of the old team that knew how to run the game. PRO-TIP: When dealing with server congestion, the answer is NOT to temporarily suspend sales.

I expect this to be the last thing I post about this game. Tuesday night, they added more servers, and increased each server's player capacity. They did not implement any AFK timers, though they say those are coming soon. Nevertheless, the repairs they did make seem to be taking effect. Haven't had any troubles logging on since Wednesday, even the weekend has been flawless connections throughout. I guess I can recommend this game again.

I originally bought FF14, is this a brand new game or did they just crash the old version and rework it completely? The reason I ask is because I still have the game and if I re-install, can I just jump back into it or do I have to buy something new?

Brand new game, the old FFXIV is gone for good. But your character(s) remain. They'll just have different skills and stats, I suppose.

Am I the only one not excited for GTA V at all? I feel like the series is tired and played out. You can only steal so many cars before it gets boring.

I started playing it last night. So far the characters are fun and the dialogue is amazing. It really hits the ground running and it seems the map will be just enormous. I can't wait to see where it goes.
