http://games.slashdot.org/story/14/...ine-battle-destroys-200000-worth-of-starships Jesus fuck. 200-300 thousand dollars of real life dollars destoryed in one battle. That is one esitamate, I think it is closer to 400K-500K. 92 Titans or something like that were destroyed. To put in prospective, there are three basic catagories, sup-capital, capital, and super capital. Most people stay in the sub-caital catagory, some people get into the capital, not many get into the super-capital. For about 45 dollars you can get a 1billion ISK. A battle ship which is the biggest sup-cap can be outfitted for around 200mill. A capital and be outfitted for around 1 Billion. A titan which is the most expensive super-cap is 100 billion isk for a general setup, if you really go all out and get the best of the best, it can get up to 200-250 Billion ISK.
Remember that Mortal Kombat Legacy that came 2-3 years ago, it was live action, 9 minutes long and didn't suck? Well Machinima helped out and fleshed it out to two 9 episode "seasons" and its pretty damn entertaining.
Pre-ordered Dark Souls II and already paid for it. I can't wait for March 11. I'll have to bust out Dark Souls this month to get back into the swing of that game. I go back and forth as to whether Dark Souls or Demon's Souls is my favorite game ever.
Based entirely on the amount of time I spent with the game, Demon's Souls. I loved Dark Souls and I am absolutely getting DS II, but I spent in the realm of 200 hours on Demon's Souls, playing through with different builds and collecting shit. I've never spent as much time on a game as I did on demon's souls, and I never got close to completely finishing it (in this case, getting a Platinum trophy on the PS3). I am absolutely playing through Demon's Souls again before DS II comes out. Final Fantasy XIII-3 comes out tomorrow, and I know I'm going to get it. XIII was very linear until the end of the game, but the battle system was excellent, and made the game really fun and challenging. XIII-2 took all the good of the first (the battle system) and ended up being a better game than the first (IMHO). The addition of hunting and collecting monsters was a nice little addition. I really dug the time travel story. Then came that fucking ending.... So now I'm debating XIII-3 (fuck calling it "Lightning Returns"). They revamped the battles to be more real time, and you only control one character, so paradigms are gone. In their place are costumes, and you switch between costumes during battle to access different skills and attacks. The trick is timing it properly because your ATB charges while you're not using a costume, so you use up the ATB of costume A, switch to B and use that up, then switch to C, and by the time you get back to A the ATB is recharged, allowing you to theoretically never stop attacking if timed properly. The demo wasn't too bad, and there are a lot of interesting costumes (including "classics" inspired by Cloud, Aerith, Locke, and Yuna). I'm curious to inker with the battle system more, but the demo wasn't very long. That said, the game focuses (so far) on Lightning, Hope, and Snow, probably my three least favorite of the first game's characters. XIII-2 gave you all of them in small doses, so they were tolerable, and the rest of the characters in XIII-2 were better (including an excellent villain). Fuck me, I have to finish the trilogy. Damn my need for completion.
A week late but worth mentioning nonetheless, the PS4's PS+ free game is Outlast. It's a survival horror game, and it's quite awesome. The developers did a fantastic job of setting a creepy as fuck mood with jump scares galore and a constant sense of unease. You're a reporter sent to investigate an Asylum. No weapons. The only thing you have is a handheld camcorder with night-vision. If you have a PS4, get this game!
I forgot this came out, but for any Playstation only types who are also Ace Combat fans, they just released the Beta/Demo for Ace Combat Infinity. It is a free to play Ace Combat game, which unless you pay cash, will limit how many missions you can do. There is a storyline component, and an online co-op component (so far). Its up on the PSN. The graphics aren't as amazing as I'd hoped they be, but given its F2P they weren't going for 1080p Perfection. I just wish they'd come out with another straight up Ace Combat that is as good as Ace Combat 5 was and call it a day.
Or 4. I don't think I've ever been as immersed in a game as I was during the final mission of Ace Combat 4. The orchestral intro gave me goosebumps as you oversee Megalith. Then the Mobius flight checking in as what is possibly the BEST damn final stage music kicks in. I mean...goddamn.
Just got my Titanfall beta codes in my email spam mailbox. Be sure to check there if you registered for it. Somehow I got codes for the xbox One and the PC, so I will post a review later tonight or tomorrow after I play on both platforms.
This game is scary as fuck! I've already simultaneously jumped out of my bed, shat my pants and screamed numerous times during this game.
Since the new Tomb Raider for XboxOne was on sale for 39.99, I ordered it. I supposed its the only really decent title out for the system now. It will give me an excuse to open it up.
Bravely Default motherfuckers. If you like RPGs at all and own a 3DS you're doing yourself a disservice by not picking this up.
I've been playing the Titanfall beta on my Xbox One. The Good: Matches feel epic. There really isn't a better way to describe it better than that. Being an infantryman while 30 foot Titans beat the hell out of each other is an entirely positive experience. Despite the fact that you are the ant to their magnifying glass, being infantry doesn't feel like you're chopped liver either. Cloaking, sniping, heavy ordinance. These are all tools you can use with precision. A team of prepared infantry can take down a Titan in no time flat. However, there really is nothing better than mowing down a shit load of dudes with a chaingun the size of a Prius, or just stepping on them. Which brings me to... The Bad: Matches can feel decidedly one-sided. As soon as the other team starts getting Titans, things can and will start going Very Badly for your team. But I think this is more because people are still trying to figure things out rather than an actual problem. Playing like you'd play Call of Duty is going to get your shit ruined. Some people hate the bots. I don't mind them. It feels like the endless teammates you had in previous Medal of Honor games. The big difference being that instead of a stream of cannon fodder, you've got humans to almost act as demi-bosses. It's a neat idea. I would personally like it a bit more if the AI wasn't breathtakingly idiotic, but that's a beta for you.
I figured yall would appreciate this. Someone on twitch hooked up a Gameboy emulator to read inputs from twitch chat (up, down, A, start, etc). Behold, TwitchPlaysPokemon: http://twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemon Started watching this when it had around 2000 viewers, last I checked it was upwards of 100k. It's pretty hilarious.
It is awesome. It's like watching a car crash in slow motion. I posted about it on the main drunk thread. It's like watching Red try to go through his quest with 17 concussions. Here are a couple of decent primers about the whole thing. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/...g-mesmerizing-beauty-of-twitch-plays-pokemon/ http://www.joystiq.com/2014/02/22/twitch-plays-pokemon-its-history-highlights-and-bird-jesus/ I was actually watching it when they released the Charmander, and I was laughing my ass off so hard I thought I was going to throw up.
So I missed the last couple of days. Apparently these assholes caught a Zapdos using the Master Ball, but yet had a hell of a time getting it out of the PC. Also apparently the original Pidgey (Bird Jesus) is now at level 60+. This is a fucking soap opera. http://www.dorkly.com/article/59505/the-majesty-of-twitch-plays-pokemon/page:3
10 days til Dark Souls II. I was pretty good about not thinking about it, but it hit me this morning "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!! 10 DAYS!!!!! NOW I CAN'T WAIT."
It's 7 days. March 11th is the release date (14th is Europe's release date). It's gonna be great. I've never wanted to call in sick just to play a game before, but I do for this.
I'll second this. I haven't been able to keep with a game like this in years, but I'm about 20+ hours in and having a pretty good time with it. Also I'm pretty pumped for Dark Souls II as well, but I'm waiting for the PC version. I just built this beast of a PC so I'll definitely wait to play it at 60fps on a 1440p monitor.
