Turns out after three years or so (and a lot of gaming) PS3 controllers can go wonky and using the left analog stick makes ALL your buttons get pressed. Because some piece of foam they put in there gets too compressed and contacts are being lost. Good thing is there is an easy fix, and I just went in there and fixed it. Feeling pretty good about myself.
Well no shit. I thought it was just playing Call of Duty non stop for months on end fucked up the left analog stick.
I noticed it on COD months ago, and thought it was lag or something else, because it never seemed to happen in other games, even though I was using the left stick. Then I was playing Ace Combat Infinity and I thought "Okay, it must be lag related." Then finally it started glitching out when I was playing Valkryia Chronicles and I was like "Okay something is wrong here."
Hey it turns out that new Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor game is pretty good. The combat is a total ripoff of the Arkham series, but that's like bitching that Porsche made a car as fast as a Ferrari. See here, in terrible 480p: Graphics are as good as should be expected for next-gen, the world is open enough to get yourself in deep trouble, and the NEMESIS system is pretty damn revolutionary. This game copied Batman's melee, future titles will copy this game's AI. Recommended, will play again.
I wish more games would get a bit more innovative with their combat systems. I enjoy slightly more complicated systems like God of War. Definitely not as complicated as Ninja Gaiden where there are pauses and frame pushes etc, but it's a bit more layered. Batman definitely did make it fun with the slowmo and the incentives to combo, but just wish I had more control over if I was going to kick or punch. Weird, I know, but eh. Anyway, IGN gave it a 9.3 Basically came down to those .7 points being knocked off because the story missions were decent and not great.
Found a fun little kickstarter last week called Rimworld. Pretty simple but the basics are you get to select 3 survivors of a crash out on a world with tribesmen and pirates and have to build a colony and eventually a ship to evacuate and save yourselves. Regular updates with things like passing tradeships selling bionics, weapons, food and clothing. Occupied a few hours this week with it.
Well I'm not one to shill for a game unless it's really got me hooked (Dark Souls), but this new Mordor is probably worth your time. Always a good sign when you put the game on specifically to do side quests and random stuff. Some stress relief from the other day:
The only apparent knock on the game is the sidequests are more fun to do than the mainquest. But luckily, there is a ton more of the former than the latter.
If I wasn't already in the middle of a playthrough of the original, I'd hop on this. Most likely will give it a go in the near future. I've been trying to put off buying a new gaming laptop until early next year. From what I've been hearing/seeing of Dragon Age: Inquisition........that may not happen. Spoiler Between this, Tides of Numenara and Pillars of Eternity. 2015 will be the year of the shut in for me. Random side point - I believe I saw some folks talking Hearthstone earlier in the thread. Anyone still playing or have started playing? I got into it about a couple months ago and have been enjoying myself immensely. Trying to do more arena play as the potential rewards seem to beat just buying individual packs.
I actually just started playing Hearthstone two weeks ago. Bought the expansion quests and building a Mage deck at the moment. I always loved MtG so this is an enjoyable computer version.
I'm jealous. Destiny will probably be a late Christmas gift to myself. I'm in a similar situation with Titan Fall. I've had it for quite some time now and still love it.
Sorry, still playing Dragon Age Inquisition. I'm annoyed beyond measure that keyboard/mouse controls are so shitty, but I've got a spare 360 controller which works surprisingly well.
As someone that played the shit out of the first and just finished the second, I love it. I love having conversations with my party members that have been affected by choices I've made in previous games. Aside from the control issues (which they can hopefully patch in), and the tactical camera sucking, this is going to be my Skyrim. I've already rolled 3 different characters and am getting 3 way different experiences out of it. 2 handed human warrior goody two shoes, dual wielding qunari rogue asshole, and militant human lesbian mage. I'm probably going to delete the last one and reroll her as an elf to really up the bitterness.
I've been playing Sunset Overdrive the last couple of days. It's a really well put together game considering the type of game it is. A really funny take on an apocalyptic scenario, with a healthy dose of mockery of other games in a similar genre. The graphics are pretty decent considering the amount of content. But I am still waiting for a game to take my breath away on Xbox one. I have to wait a bit to buy GTA 5 again, but from what I've read, the re-release has a wealth of new content that makes the $60 price tag well worth it.
How did you get previous games? Did you play the first two on your ps4, or you playing Inquisition on your ps3, or did you transfer your files from ps3 to the ps4? Yea I am not liking the tactical camera at all, and the stupid find herbs/things it makes the ding and high lights it, but I have a hard time finding the item.
There is an online website where you can load up your achievements and previous profiles and then DA: Inquisition is supposed to take the info for the new game. Of course, mine fucked up, so I'm 4 hours into the game and realizing none of my decisions carried over. Pretty fucking annoying, but not enough to re-start. I'm going with a human rogue asshole for the moment, and it is fun answering every question in the most dickish, sarcastic way possible. Apparently, Varric likes me. Not sure anyone else does.
