I've played a bit of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. The graphics on the PS4 are amazing, and they've changed the locations of enemies and added some new items. I haven't gotten to the new areas yet (Crown DLC's and the new one with this version) - but overall, it is gorgeous and it feels smoother than the PS3 version.
Xbox was better last generation, but this gen goes to PS4. http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4_vs._Xbox_One_vs._Wii_U_Comparison_Chart As for Deus Ex- that game looks great. DX1 is my favorite game ever, I still play through it every now and then. HR was great and I cant wait for this one.
For the record, I don't own a PS4 and I doubt I ever will, so take this with it's requisite grain of salt. Also, I'm pretty invested into Microsoft's ecosystem as I have a Windows Phone, use OneDrive extensively, etc. It really boils down to what exclusives you're looking to play, what services you use the most, and how much of a shit you give about graphical fidelity. To be completely honest with you, I haven't touched my XB1 for a few months now because of the great stuff that's on PC right now. But for me, it's a preference for the XB1 controller, XBL, and XB1's media capabilities, although the last one is semi-moot now that I have a smart TV. I'm excited about DirectX 12 and the purported graphics bump. I'm excited about universal apps that will work across Windows 10, Windows Phone and XB1. I'm excited that you'll be able to stream XB1 games over your network to a Windows 10 device (with the possibility of streaming PC games to XB1). The idea that I can possibly not have to buy and upgrade a gaming PC is extremely attractive to me because I know that being a soon to be parent, I won't have any disposable income anymore. I won't have to fight with my wife and future kid(s) over the TV. The only thing I've seen from Sony that even approaches anything like this is charging ridiculous amounts of money to rent (aka stream) games online. Yes, the PS4 is graphically superior, but so is the PS3 over the 360.
Yes. I am at full erection. This is something that makes me think "I need a PS4." The last one was great, the first one was fucking epic. That game takes you into a world and makes you want to almost live it. Hopefully there is a little more controllable CQC, but otherwise all of that looks good. They teased quite a few abilities there.
I recently finished Far Cry 4 and am 2/3 or so through Far Cry 3. Both are two of the best shooters I've ever played. I think I liked Far Cry 4 better, but it's a close call. - I like the Sniper rifles better in 3. In 4 I once dumped every bullet I could carry max capacity into one of the heavy enemies and he still wasn't dead. Stupid. Then it sometimes took 4 shots to even kill a regular enemy, which just made it a useless piece of shit. In 3 the rifles are way, way better. - 4 was way harder. which isn't a bad thing at all. The way the outposts were set up in 4 made it a lot more fun. Just in general better design for game play and sneaking around, plus I like the challenge of having to disable every alarm with reinforcements based on how many are shut off rather than just disabling one and it shuts off everything. - As stupid as the premise for Far Cry 3 is I think I actually like the story better. That's probably because the protagonist has a bit of personality whereas in 4 there's really not much there. - The wanted dead missions in 3 are fun the first few times, then they start to get really old. Every single one is the same. They could have at least mixed this up a bit or done fewer and added some other side mission variant. - I generally like to complete everything, but I'm not going to do stupid shit like collect all 120 relics or find every propaganda poster. Make it like 20 and that would be better. - I like that in 3 the heavies are still much tougher, but shooting them is actually an option. The disparity between heavies and regular enemies in 4 was ridiculous. They took so much ammo I just started knifing all of them. Hit one button or dump 5 clips into them. That's not really an evened out option. - I loved the Shangri La missions and I think it was that plus the generally better designed levels that make me give Far Cry 4 the edge.
I agree, the enemy balancing scaled in a very strange way. Overall, I think I still enjoyed Far Cry 3 better. The island/jungle setting was more enjoyable and I found having scale mountains with the grappling hook to be tedious after a while. My other complaint in FC4 is that Pagan Min never really felt like a threat as a villain. He just wasnt in the game that much. Whereas in Far Cry 3, Vaas felt like a very real villain and was never quite absentee, he always seemed just on the fringes of what you were doing. Dont get me wrong, FC4 is still a fantastic game. The Fortress take overs, the variations in enemy camps, and just overall more things to do made it great. Yep, cant wait. I hope its Boston. that way I can find my apartment and hang out there.
Leaked documents back in December 2013 said it was supposed to be set in Boston. Game is just called Fallout 4, trailer looks sweet. Since you are from Boston you might recognize some of the landscape.
Oh yeah, its definitely Boston. The trailer is heavy with landmarks- -Bunker Hill Monument -Paul Revere statue -Quincy Market -Old Statehouse -USS Constitution (the flying ship in the trailer) -Fenway Park And they definitely did their homework regarding timeline too. A place called Scollay Square is in the trailer which was torn down in the 1960s, so it would make sense that it was never removed in the game if the city is stuck in the 1950s.
Once in awhile a game comes out where you wish you were 20, single, and it's winter outside. Just so you have full justification to go balls deep in a game without anyone fucking with you.
A few of months ago something flicked the "off" switch on my gaming desire. I was struggling with some parts of Dragon Age, got frustrated one night and shut off my console and just stopped playing at all. I picked up the latest Call of Duty, my brother in law sent me Witcher III, and they've just been gathering dust. But Fallout 3 - I'm in.
So much for that. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-one-to-be-backward-compatible-with-xbox-360-g/1100-6428114/
I just came in my pants. Hands down, my favorite series ever. DSII is maligned a bit, but I liked it, though not as much as DS1. Miyazaki is in, so I'm in.
Final Fantasy 7 is getting remade. Best of all (for me anyway), its apparently only a timed exclusive to PS4. I was literally swearing under my breath because I thought for sure I'd have to buy a PS4.
Fuck yes. I hope they fix the two biggest mistakes they made in DS2: Mediocre world design and too many knight-type bosses.
