I thought the Zelda and Mario games for the DS sucked hardcore, with the exception of Mario Kart. (Thankfully, I didn't pay for them) However, I would still say get the DS over PSP. I don't know what genres you like, but the Castlevania DS games are outstanding, probably the best titles on either system, and there are quality action games like Contra 4 and Ninja Gaiden on there, too. I only play action/adventure and racing titles, so I have no clue about the rest of their genre. Supposedly, some game called Professor Layton is really good? As for the PSP, they have Twisted Metal, a few other decent racers, a re-done version of a really good Castlevania from the mid 90s, and that's it?
I own both. I'd lean towards the DS if I had to choose, but it's a tough call. Both are good systems with a wide selection of games for most tastes. Here are two lists you should consult. They've never steered me that wrong. - <a class="postlink" href="http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Nintendo_DS" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Nintendo_DS</a> - <a class="postlink" href="http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/PSP" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/PSP</a> The DS has some more interesting games like Elite Beat Agents and Trauma Center than the PSP. However, watch out for any games that require you to blow into the microphone. They put it in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Do you honestly want to be seen blowing into a DS in public? Both are very "hackable". The DS, however, is much easier. I only bring this up because somebody else mentioned The Pirate Bay. PSP: If you want to do homebrew, get a PSP-1000 model. These are essentially brickproof. Memory Sticks, however, are expensive. There are micro-SD to Memory Stick converters at various sites. DS: Buy a DS Lite, not a DSi. A flashcart should cost you $15- 20. A micro-SD card should cost you $5 - 25+.
Well, it's official, I suck at MW2... However, I grabbed a copy of Star Trek Online beta and played it for a couple of hours over the weekend. Overall I enjoyed it. Pretty much everything in the game is customizable. From the look of your character to the build of your ship and crew, you get to decide. Each mission plays like an episode of Star Trek. Sometimes you'll be in ship to ship combat, only to be asked to beam onto a ship with your away team filled with red-shirts to dispatch a maurading alien boarding party. Ship to ship combat is pretty intense. A lot of maneuvering for the best shot at a lowered shield goes on, and the fights take place in 3D. The "leveling up" process is pretty cool too. Each block of 10 levels is divided into "ranks" and "grades." This makes the leveling process not feel like such a grind. On the downside, early on, all the missions start to feel the same... "Go here, kill this, collect reward." However, this is pretty much true for any MMO at the beginning. Additionally, The UI is bad... really bad. One of the complaints many people on the STO forums have is the inordinate amount of mouse clicking and mouse turning it takes to fight a space battle. Cryptic needs to incorporate the old LucasArt's TIE Fighter trick of "matching target speed" into space battles. Hopefully a good mod comes out to replace the UI, but that assumes a good game launch... Overall, I still haven't decided to buy it at official launch. I'm sure a ton of Trekkies will give it a shot. I've already seen a couple of "Jean Luke Pikards" online. I wonder how long it will last once people realize that the game takes place 25 years after anything they actually care about in the Star trek universe...
Does anyone know if they plan on unglitching the Pavelow in MW2? I would have thought they'd have fixed it by now, but I got one today and after it got 11 kills I still had to run around and kill 2 more people to get my AC130. Pissed me off cuz I woulda had my first nuke. WTF Infinity Ward
Are you sure thats a glitch? I thought I read that the Pavelow doesnt count towards your kill streak. Only Predator Missle, Chopper Gunner and AC130 does. I could be wrong, but thats the impression I was under.
Since the Star Wars MMO got pushed back a year I opted for this. The space combat is pretty fun, I definitely get the feeling that there is some skill involved. I tried getting into EVE but that game is way to complicated for my tastes.
FYI, there's a new COD:MW2 thread HERE Keep your load-outs, strategies, etc, for that thread. Any non-"this-is-how-I-play" stuff can stay here. And stay on your toes for Maltob14. He'll fuck you in your shitpussy, or something.
It´s not that complicated. Read the forums and join a decent corporation. It´s not that hard once you get into it and have a skill plan set ahead and try some pvp in a frig. I did just fine in the game as a 14 year old.
I've played eve online for a few years. The game can be daunting/slow in the beggining. Just take your time and read. I would HIGHLY recommend looking up a coporation called Eve University. They are a corp that does nothing but teach you how to play eve basically. I did my stint there back in the day and it helped greatly. I went back a few months ago to visit some of the instructors and they are still spot on in there teachings. They are located in Aldrat now. If you decide to play open your map and search "aldrat" and then right click, set destination and go from there. Once you get into the system just ask in local how to join (may take a few times) and someone will help you out. I think there current member count is 800ish. If you need help, hit me up in game. Cattraknoff is the name.
The only kill streaks that don't count to your ongoing kill streak are the ones you receive from the care package kill streak or from the emergency airdrop. The pave low is just fucked up plain and simple. Sometimes it counts and sometimes it doesn't. It's only a rumour but apparently if you call it in and get a kill before it does, the chances that the kills it gets you actually counting towards your kill streak go up.
I gave EVE a shot about 6 months ago, but it didn't grab my attention. I think STO does it for me because it has a subject matter I can identify with. Once you get a good weapons setup (I switched all my phasers to disruptors and loaded my tac console with a torpedo buff) space battles are awesome. Still have to stay on your toes when it comes to shield strength/distribution and ship position (there is an Orion frigate that shoots photon mines out of its ass that will fuck you up). Getting with a good instance group helps immensely too...
@ Drake I'm running a setup with Dual Heavy disruptors up front, and the photon mines in back. I just zoom in, bust down the one shield and launch mines just short of them. It's like a bombing run. Baiting tactics work well with the mines too.
I just picked up NBA2k10 this week and so far it seems like it's a pretty solid basketball game. The gameplay doesn't feel arcade like at all and the Association really lets you handle every inch of your team. That being said, this has a pretty steep learning curve it seems. I have played about 10 games in my season and haven't won a game yet. I think I've made 1 three pointer total also. Now I'm not a great shooting team (Bucks), but I have yet to figure out when to release my shot. I'll miss wide open 15 footers and threes constantly. I'm getting better, but it's damn frustrating to be down like 3 or 4 points with a minute left and know you're going to lose because you can't make a three.
As you may or may not know, I'm the online architect for the upcoming Need For Speed World Online. We're doing our Closed Beta soon, where we'll be picking some people to help us test it. If you're interested in being involved, shoot me a PM, and I'll let you know as soon as the sign-up goes live, giving you a better shot at getting in.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/launch-trailer-mass-effect/61043 Is anyone else as pumped for Mass Effect 2 as I am? Edit: I've watched this trailer like 8 times today. It's better than most movie trailers that come out nowadays.
I decided to start Mass Effect over since it's been so long that I've played it. Once I through with that I'll pick up the new one.
That's not even the best trailer, this is, get a load of it. I've replayed ME twice over the past month so that I have a Paragon and a Renegade character to transfer to 2. http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/...ideos/masseffect2_trl_fulltrailer_122309.html
Anyone here exited about the Lego MMO? Theres a 5 part walkthrough here <a class="postlink" href="http://www.gametrailers.com/game/4954.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.gametrailers.com/game/4954.html</a> I know its a kiddie game but seriously who wouldn´t want to build shit with LEGOs and share them in a huge online world?
