Though to be fair, you do get to see two topless playthings watch Kratos bone...

I know that most of you guys are into FFXIII right now, but I picked up Mass Effect 2 a week ago and am going to start it relatively soon. What did you guys think of it, looking back on it now?

Seriously, not more GoW3 talk? I got it release day and just finished it after taking a few days off, and holy SHIT it blew my fucking mind right out of my head on a couple occasions. Gameplay-wise, it isn't too huge of a leap - it's very much God of War. But they turned the scale up to "fucking epic" on just about everything, and I've never played Shadow of the Colossus but I think one of these fights is the biggest enemy I've ever seen in a video game. I thought Bayonetta's bosses were huge, and this dwarfed them. Very very satisfying conclusion to an awesome trilogy. Now I get to get my face raped by Chaos mode...

And raped it shall be, I'm currently about to kick Zeus in the junk on Hard mode and fuck it was tough to get there, I think the Hades fight alone took me about an hour and a half to get past.

I finished FFXIII last night with around 45 hours clocked in. The last chapter I thought was pretty tough, much more so than most of the rest of the game. Now I plan on going back and doing all of the mark side quests here and there between playing other games.

I had picked up GoW3 Friday afternoon in case I finished FF that day or saturday since it was supposed to snow over the weekend, and so I started that up last night. awwwSNAP was right about the "fucking epic" scale of it, and the little bit I played last night was pretty awesome. I started it on hard and did not do well at all so I went down to easy the second time it asked me. I feel like a pussy though playing it on easy, so I think I may just start over and go with normal mode. I wish when it asked you that you could choose normal or easy if you were playing on hard.

Without giving away too much, I just finished it last weekend, I thought the story line was really short. The gist of it is that you gather your team, then do your main mission and that's it...game over. I even did all the side missions and each team member mission and those really didn't add much, if any, to the main story. It was over before I knew it.

really? REALLY? Damn it, I was/am really looking forward to this game. I got and beat ME (which I really really liked) almost solely so I could play this game. The way you explained is sounds like it was a massive letdown.

IS FFXIII really that good of a game, by the way? I am not a huge RPGer in that sense--I'm not huge into video games either, but when something epic comes out, you want to enjoy it, you know? Is this game along those lines, or not really?

He made it sound way shorter than it actually is. If you do all the main story missions, all the loyalty missions, and all the side missions, it's easily 25-30 hours. You can probably do it in 20-22 if you are an exceptional gamer.

Edit: Not to mention, as a Mass Effect fan, I had to play through it more than once to flesh out all the various options. It's a bit shorter the second/third times through, but if you up the difficulty it becomes way more challenging. On Insanity it is extremely hard.

Yeah, the game is definitely a long and fun one. The gameplay is really repetitive but I still had a blast doing two full 40+ hour playthroughs and I didn't even go through it as a renegade. I understand and agree with what he means by the story is really short. There are only a handful of actual missions that involve the main plot of the game and the rest is recruiting your team and fleshing those characters out. Still, ME2 is probably my favorite Xbox 360 game to date and I'll probably get all the DLC and do a third playthrough. And this is all coming from a guy that finds almost zero replay value in console games.

I apologize, I did make it sound like the game was short as hell. It took me a good 25-30 hours to beat it doing all the side and loyalty missions. I just barney-styled it for you so I didn't give anything away. It really is a helluva lot of fun and I'm playing through a second time right now with a Shepard I made look like a ginger with downs and pink/purple armor. I'm trying to make him into the uber-paragon to see what different options that opens seeing as last time I was about 2/3 renegade.

Something I didn't really like was the weapons selection. I liked how they did it in ME1 where you could see the stat's of each weapon you purchased. This one doesn't do that and you only get a few different choices.

    Character relations:
It was pretty cool how they tied all of the ME1 characters back into ME2, although I wouldn't have chosen Tali as one of the main storyline party members. I definitely used Garrus a lot at the beginning for his sniping ability.

This is probably a little off-topic but this is the funniest and most pathetic thing I've seen all day... This website apparently launches tomorrow that has girls the website found on Craigslist to play Xbox Live with you. If you're not into playing Xbox with a hot little woman you can play games like battleship and checkers on the website with them and that includes video chat. Now, I know you're all thinking this is too good to be true, and it pretty much is! According to IGN, $8.25 will get you a 10 minute Xbox live match with a girl or 6 minutes of a flash game and video chat.

Seriously, this is so pathetic and stupid I just had to bring it up here. I think this even may deserve its own thread in the general discussion section. Who is going to actually pay for this? You can get a hand job for $8.25.

Bad Company 2 is a lot of fun. There isnt anything quite like being able to blow up anything and everything and taking down buildings with the 10 campers packed in it.

I LOVED Mass Effect 2. Like bought it, played through it once. Then played through it 3 times in a row right after that. If you want an incredibly awesome and variable game that can be very different if you have any sort of imagination. Seriously, you can completely ignore everyone in this game and get through it. I would imagine that experience would be very similar to if I lived my life that way. Dull, uneventful and mediocre at best.

However if you actually involve yourself in the game meet some characters, get involved in their lives. You will enjoy this game, it is like Final Fantasy but slightly less nerdy. Sorry I said it. But you can play it casually and still really enjoy this game. It's like a 40 hour movie that you can play.

Has anyone else bought the steaming pile that is Bad Company 2 for PC? I've owned it for 3 weeks and cannot get online, haven't been able to find out why either. It took a week for me to be able to finally connect far enough to make an account but no servers show up. There's a patch somewhere but the game will not auto update like it's supposed to and I can't find a manual installer anywhere to download. I've heard the patch made it even worse anyways. All the official forums seem to receive no feedback from the game designers. The single player campaign was a blast though.

Ya I have BF BC2 for the pc, I haven't had any problems yet. I would never dream of playing a first person shooter on a console, mouse + keyboard > joystick.

I used to think that too, but I find that the ps3 controller(haven't tried xbox) to be fairly good and easy to use, wish I could do the sideways run thing, like in CS(maybe it's the game)... When you're all on the same controller, it levels the playing field.

Anyone have any good game suggestions to rent or buy? I just started playing Bioshock and was going to get Bioshock 2, but to be honest, Bioshock doesn't do anything for me. It's alright and kind of fun to play but it doesn't have that feeling where I cant wait to go home and play it.

It was suggested to pick up God Of War 3 and to rent Heavy Rain. Any other suggestions? I pretty much like any kind of game, but lean towards the FPS and online gameplay doesn't matter, since i'm without the internet for a bit.
