Prince of Persia is... Well, it's a Prince of Persia game. The fighting is harder than I remember it, but it's still basically a two button attack system. The running and jumping and climbing is better than ever, and the elemental powers are pretty sweet and challenging.
Watch out for the game restarting glitch, heads up... http://kotaku.com/5541669/beware-this-ruinous-prince-of-persia-glitch-[spoilers]
If I'm being honorable in the West, then I'm doing it wrong. The bounty system doesn't seem to be too intense in Bonnie's Ranch area though. I stole a horse and outrode the danger zone, and when I returned later no one bothered me despite having a bounty on my head. Is it different in other towns where there is actually a marshal?
Alan Wake....someone please post a review after having some hands-on time with it. To me, it looks amazing, but is it worth the buy?? It looks like it has a hell of a storyline.
I plowed a whore in Armadillo with my horse, which is where I picked up the bounty and promptly was shot at until I let loose three bucks. So I'm thinking yes, it matters. Hell I got a bounty for opening the wrong door in the Armadillo bank. I played for about thirty minutes last night before the crowd demanded more Red Dead, but what I played was very enjoyable. The lighting effects are some of the best I've seen.
Here is CNET's full review of the game: http://reviews.cnet.com/xbox-360-games/alan-wake-xbox-360/4505-11457_7-31484759.html?tag=mncol;lst;1
Anyone else been playing the SC2 beta? If you preorder it at Gamestop (5 bucks minimum I think), you get a beta key. Pretty damn fun so far.
I've been sitting here alone drinking and playing Mario Kart Wii in an effort to get my 6 year old's file up to snuff since his older brother has a conniption every time the littler one plays his file. Yeah, it's cheating but if I gets them to stop shrieking at each other like little girls, I'm all for it. My older son had his 13 year old friend over from up the street (the one whose eyes bugged out when he saw me playing Dead Space because even he is too scared to play it) here the other day and they were playing MKW. Being the good mommy that I am, I started talking all kinds of smack about how I would beat them all so bad their grandchildren would feel it. So I did and the look on the kid's face was priceless. Slack-jawed and incredulous. Made my week! I may have to rethink my stance on Rockstar Games based on y'alls enthusiasm. Mowing down whores on horseback sounds like all kinds of fun that should not be missed. I'll just have to tell <other kid's> mom to avoid Red Dead because otherwise my oldest 2 dudes will come home howling about he can play and they can't. Only difference being that <other kid's> mom probably (most likely) hasn't played those games herself so she doesn't know what's in them. This is where I typically have a leg-up.
I'm only a few hours in so maybe I don't know the whole scope, but Red Dead doesn't seem nearly as bad as GTA in terms of "encouraging delinquency." It's really hard to play the bad guy in Red Dead from the start because so many options will be barred to you and it's too annoying trying to outrun posses when your horse is pretty slow. I suggest you try it out, I don't think it would be anything bad to let a 13-year-old play. Although I may take that back later on in the game. They can at least play the first five hours.
So, the problem I found with Prince of Persia today is this: it's abysmally short. I think I put in maybe 8 hours of gameplay before it was over on Easy mode. I was confused by this, as I had only gotten maybe 1/3 of the upgrades. However, a new game at a harder difficulty does give you all that stuff you earned back after the first trip to the Djinn. So I guess maybe you're supposed to play through on all the difficulty levels. Still. Way too short.
My problem is that they didn't adhere to the new direction they were going in. Was the last game really that bad?
Anyone getting the new UFC Undisputed 2010? I remember the last game was really popular on the old video games thread and from everything I've heard from friends/reviewers/previews this one is even better.
I was listening to Opie and Anthony yesterday, and they had Dana White in studio, and he brought a copy of the game. They were playing it and reviewing it on air, and I have to say that I didn't hear a single negative comment, and all the guys involved sounded genuinely impressed at just how much of an improvement it was over the last one, which was a great game itself. You could overhear the commentary, and I swear it sounded like you were listening to a real live UFC match. The descriptions of the action, descriptions of the moves, whether they were landed or blocked, it was really impressive. Apparently the graphics, controls, and animation are amazing as well from what they were saying. I really can't wait to see it in person.
On the last Ultimate Fighter they had Forrest Griffith show up in the house with a copy, and they took a 2 hour break in the house and played the game. From what I could see on the show, it did look pretty impressive. Mind you, it's not like anyone on the show said anything negative about the blatant product placement... or if they did, it never made it to the final cut of the show. Nothing new and/or groundbreaking, but it appears to be a solid improvement over the original.
going to pick up my copy of UFC now. hopefully bestbuy still has some left so I can get the $20 off a PPV thing. The IGN review while only giving it a 7.8 the only thing the dumbass reviewer really knocked it for were the controls, and he couldn't figure out career mode. (he complained they were to hard to figure out.) Really you have a complaint that the modes all feel the same? YOU'RE PLAYING A FUCKING MMA GAME! What did you want the ability to run out of the cage and smash someone with a chair? Obviously the guy has never played last years or even watched MMA.
Picked up ModNation Racers for the PS3 today and my roommate and I played it for about 8 hours straight. If you've ever played LittleBig Planet it's a lot like that, just as a racing game. Tons of customization and creating tracks is a blast once you get the hang of it. Only down side is some really long load times.
Well fuck me sideways... they went and made it official. I'm thinking that me and my team will be a little busy for the next few weeks.
Ahhhh I remember those, not too long ago, days. I must have asked my mom for GTA III over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again for months. After no luck, I saved up all my money for months and had my friends get it for me because his parents would buy him whatever video game he would want. Once I got it, I played all the time. Whenever my mom wasn't home, I was playing. I loved that game. It's enjoyable to this day. Eventually, she found out like two years later. But it didn't matter that much anymore.
Has anyone here finished Demon's Souls yet? I am having a hell of a time taking down the final boss of world 1 (which I am assuming is supposed to be the final boss of the game) and I could use any tips that anyone might have.
