Played about 6 or so games on it now. Definitely think I'm going to buy it. I always relied on poke checks more than hitting anyway. Biggest change for me is going to be the new faceoff format. Two things that seem stupid though: 1 - This "ultimate team" thing. It's just overly complicated, and I hate the whole earning points to buy cards which may or may not pay off thing. I know Madden tried the card concept, and I think they realized it was stupid and abandoned it. 2 - User generated celebrations. This is just a waste of the programmers' time. I really don't care if I ride around on my stick or do a fist pump or whatever. Again, Madden did this ages ago and realized it wasn't worth it. If they wanted to add something, I'd like to see the breakaway cam again which they introduced in NHL... 2003 I think it was. I loved that thing, but it was probably b/c out of all my friends I was the only one who seemed to be able to take advantage of it. General first impressions: As seen from the past few years, the interface is just awful and not intuitive whatsoever as experienced from the past few years of the NHL franchise. However, once you actually navigate your way past the menus and manage to play a game, you're bound to be entertained. *Note, I haven't purchased a Madden game in 3-4 years so I am not certain whether these features were discontinued. Pretty sure they were though.
Forgive me for quoting myself but I was playing some the other night with my 11 year old spectating when I got to the girl. I made the girl piss (I really wasn't surprised by this but she didn't wipe. Ew.) aaaaand then she stripped and hopped in the shower. See, because the game doesn't tell you what your character will be doing when you press the button shown, you have no idea that you are going to be nearly immediately staring at bare electronic tits. Nice electronic tits but tits nonetheless. Whoops! And all this quick-time shit is gonna be the death of me, both literally and figuratively. I keep mixing up the circle and square button and it has nearly done me in a couple of times. And again, because it doesn't tell you which action is being carried out before you press the button: Spoiler I fucking shot the crazy guy in the place with all the crosses! Thaaaat can't be good! The scene then immediately ended into a big, fat auto-save. Goddamit!
That's normal.... Spoiler The part where the crazed serial killer almost cuts her pussy out with a sabre-saw is the reason why she doesn't wipe earlier. It's cause and effect, maaan!
Long Shot: Anyone play WoW on the Draenor realm (it's west coast)? 70-80 is a bitch (I'm halfway to 73) and it's always nice to have someone else questing with ya.
NCAA Football 11. Wow. Me and my friend used to do a Yale-Harvard dynasty back in 06 and now there is an ONLINE DYNASTY feature. This is sickness. Going to do a Pac-10 dynasty with my brother and my Yale-Harvard friend. I'm rolling out with Stanford [my team], and my friend is Oregon St. and my bro is his alma-mater UofA.
Yes, yes I am. You know why? Because I don't know what a Buffalo of Lies is, but based on things like the Concrete Donkey, the Indian Nuclear Test, and the ol' Holy Hand Grenade, I'll bet it's well worth the price of admission.
Psh, nothing can top the Super Sheep, Super Banana Bomb, or unlimited ninja ropes paired with dynamite. I'll check it out though. Worms 2 and Armageddon are still pretty damn awesome.
Oh I definitely have, it's just kind of cheap in my opinion, being able to work your way across the level using the ninja rope takes timing and skill.
Totally agreed, I usually never have it as an option when I play, but it's clearly the most effective weapon in the game. Also agree about the ninja rope, I often like to play with just ninja rope and dragon punch/dynamite.
Speaking of ridiculous video game BS - I was doing our Wii inventory tonight and I came across this game that made me do a double-take. Ninjabread Man. Thassright. Shovelware at its finest. The absolute lowest on any modern gamer's "Worst Ever" list. Frankly, I thought it was an urban legend or something but no. There it was in all its fucked up glory. And only $9.99! What say you gang? Is it worth picking up just to say that I own perhaps the worst game on the planet? And since we're on the subject - would you care to share with me your personal "Worst Ever" list? How about "Worst of the Year" (this or last)?
Can't forget about the pneumatic drill, the carpet bomb, the homing pigeon, or the baseball bat...imaginations will run wild.
I really think the Dragon Punch would be the most exciting, although the Kamikaze lends itself to a variety of wild nights.
Actually, fuck that. I really want to see the Buffalo of Lies in a bedroom setting. I'm not entirely sure what that would entail, but it would be priceless I'm sure.
Anyone else download Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment? It's a fun prequel of SRPG Vandal Hearts from the early 90's. If you don't like SRPG's you will despise this game, but if you played the originals it's a nice throw back. I also like the "level up what you use" system they have in place. The only issue is that it's fucking short as hell, but for $15 I can't really complain. Now they just need to get on adding the original VH and maybe even VH2 to PSN. So I've been doing this for a little while now and for me, it's totally worth it. Wouldn't recommend it for a hardcore gamer that all needs the newest games right away, as they are never available, but most games a year or two old are ripe for the picking. They're about a day or 2 slower than Netflix, but $8 a month for unlimited video games? Yes please. I figure I'll stay on this train for the next year or so the company isn't bankrupt.
The best thing to do is to just get a free 2 week trial with Gamefly, then a free trial with BB. Doing that, you can rent and beat like 3-5 single player games depending on your free time. I just did another Gamefly trial using someone else's name since it meant a free $10 credit at Best Buy and I managed to get and beat Heavy Rain, God of War 3 and Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time. Oh and don't forget buying a used game as GameStop and returning it for a full refund within 7 days.
