Are you sure your weapons are fully repaired? Their condition affects damage aswell. If they are, then yes, your guns really really suck. Try to get the sniper rifle. Spoiler You can get one for free in camp McCarran on top of a bunk bed in the tent where the First Recon soldiers are. There is no pealty for taking it. I can't imagine why at 22 you can't kill Nightkin, especially with 2 companions. Hell, I had a hard time actually killing anything at that level because my companions were faster to the trigger than I was and the targets were already dead before I got to 'em. I'm playing on normal with Hardcore enabled. edit: Also, apparently Boone is a bit bugged (100+ guns skill). You can just switch Cass out for him and let him loose on the Nightkin.
Co-worker loaned me the original Silent Hill which I am playing on my slim PS2 but it won't let me save. Do I need a PS1 memory card? That would suck.
Yes, if you're playing a PSone game on a PS2 (Slim or the old, big bastard) you need to have a PSone memory card to save the game. A PS2 memory card won't work (why, I don't know, but it annoys me). If you happen to have a PS3, it plays most PSone games, and it creates save files for you, so no memory card or anything is required. All PS3 models have backwards compatibility for PSone games, but only certain models have backwards compatibility for PS2 games. This is the only reason I've kept my old PS2, because I have a lot of PS2 games that I don't want to become useless now, since my PS3 isn't backwards compatible.
I was able to figure it out, thankfully. It wasn't just nightkin, I was getting attacked by about 10 super mutant masters all with miniguns and flamethrowers, but I was able to sneak up behind the mountain and only had to deal with 4 when I got up there.. so much easier. Is there any specific date that the patch is supposed to come out? I didn't notice bugs at first but now that I'm much farther into the game it has gotten ridiculous, I might take a break from it for a while until the patch comes.
So I know I am late to the Super Mario Galaxy 2 party, but holy crap. I'm not even that far in, and a few levels have already been pretty fucking hard (that god damned slide killed me multiple times before I figured it out). I can only imagine how much harder some of these levels are going to get. The basic stars aren't really that difficult, but there are a few that are pretty god damned hard. I'm determined to get all of the stars, but damn, I don't know if I have the patience.
You will be compelled to. Trust me. Oh and just wait until the purple coin challenges. Or better yet the timed purple coin challenges with shadows chasing you. I don't get frustrated at many games but holy fuck there were a few times I nearly impaled my big screen with the Wii remote. I admit I never got the very last star. I came real close a time or two but there are 4 of us and only three save slots (bastards) so I gave my slot up and I'll be damned if I'm playing through that shit again. Too much aggravation. It's an awesome game but shit!
Stick with it. Some of those Power Stars will make you want to jam the Remote down Mario's throat, but it's worth it in the end. And... As WickedBitch said, it gets worse. There are a few Stars that took me 7 or 8 lives to get. And the Purple Coin levels that she mentioned are mostly terrible. Spoiler Then there's the Green Stars...
Is anyone planning to get the new Gran Turisimo? After trying (…and failing) to get 100% in GT3, I was fed up with racing games and skipped over them for the last few years. Apparently, the new game has over 1000 cars and around 70 tracks with online races that can handle up to 16 people. I absolutely hate the endurance races, but the inclusion of online play makes up for it. As expected, the game looks beautiful, here's a trailer:
I have only been waiting for the fucking game since the PS3 came out. And i will only believe the release date, when i have the game in my hands. I have been let down by ... well i really dont know how many times they have changed the release date now, i have lost track.
http://www.gamepron.com/news/2010/11/12/gran-turismo-5-races-to-release-november-24-25/ Firm Release Date BITCHES!!! see above post, i am getting my hopes up again.
So as some of you know, I changed my Xbox gamertag a few days ago to HORSEGASM, in reference to The League. It was available, I purchased the necessary Microsoft points, and everything's good, right? Tonight, when I tried to sign it, it said I had to change it before I could sign into Live because it violates the terms of use. Methinks I should get my points back, since I certainly wouldn't have changed the name if I knew this would happen. I mean, sure I had this coming since it violates the terms of use, but it shouldn't have let me change it to begin with if it was going to be such an issue. Maybe make the system screen for any gamertag that ends with 'gasm' or something. At any rate, tech support told me it was out of their hands, since it was under some other department's jurisdiction. All they were able to tell me is that I can change it to anything else free of charge (which I already knew, since my console's making me do that already) and no refund on the points. I didn't have a backup choice for a name, so I'd prefer to switch it back to what it was and keep the points, but we get what we get. I'm sure I'll laugh about this later. Right now I'm kind of disappointed that I have to forfeit such an awesome gamertag. MW2 players (and Halo: Reach, soon enough, thanks to a generous friend) can now find me as AMAZINGOSAURUS.
The same thing happened to my first three gamertags: "FaceBlaster," "UncleNastyFingers," and "RoxHerBox." I went through their customer support's song and dance too. Basically, they don't have a filter. Someone reported you to Xbox Live as inappropriate and they changed it. On a lighter note, I got the lady on the phone to giggle every time she said "FaceBlaster."
I've been rocking "PuncherOfDonkey" since day 1. Looks like you fools need to be a bit more creative.
I've haven't played SMBC for a while now, but with the new addition coming this month I may have to get back into it.
Just got my email from the Playstation network, saying they are pre-ordering now, and there is a collectors edition. And my wife(manages a video store) got a call from distribution saying they are getting them in. I am getting all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Hermit count down, T minus - 8 days.
NFS: Hot Pursuit (PS3) was hubby's anniversary gift from me. Not bad. I'm glad that they cleaned up the frame-rate problem that hovered over Undercover (heh). I'm not too terribly far into it but it seems like they took some parts from Burnout and some parts from other common NFS titles and just kind of mashed them together. I am a huge fan of the GC version of NFS: Hot Pursuit 2. There was no story to that game and you couldn't customize your available cars beyond color and the makes and models varied depending on the race. There was a simple chart interface, kind of like a reverse tournament chart, that led you through all the races and there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to them, either. You just raced, sometimes as a racer, sometimes as a cop but it never felt linear or boring. The cars were top notch too. With the last few NFS titles, you followed a story arc, usually having to do with thugs and street racing gangs. You could unlock cars, but once you powered up the car that you favored, there was no reason to try any others. While you mostly had free roam to pursue whichever race (or type of races - I hated the drift races with a passion and would avoid them whenever I could) you wanted on the main map, you were still working towards one ultimate goal (bringing down said gangs, for instance). This newest title takes out the story and the customizable cars but leaves in the flighty free-floating main map, which makes things a little confusing. You're never entirely sure where to go next or what kind of race you'll find when you get there (though you can distinguish the ones where you are a racer rather than a cop at least). The cars are nice, however unmanageable some of them may be. And like the last Hot Pursuit, there are some "make exclusive" races, where you must race as one specific brand of car. As with the last Hot Pursuit title, this can be especially frustrating if you need a little more handling in your car (as I do) and have to use something like the Ford Mustang, which perpetually weaves all over the freaking road. You can also, eventually, as a racer deploy some of the tricks the cops use. I recently acquired spike strips, and while they are a little tricky to get used to, it is a neat addition. There is a decent enough "freedrive" option that lets you just cruise the city. Other than using it to scope out the best shortcuts (which isn't a bad idea), it doesn't serve any real purpose for grown-ups but my kids sure like it! They can deedle around Seacrest County (I wish I were kidding) all they want without fear of cops and such. Still, not bad so far. I can't vouch for the multiplayer aspect, since I don't have my shit hooked up online but the single player should be good enough for a few hours.
Digg.com has pretty much become a barren wasteland devoid of anything useful, but I did find this badass fan-made trailer there that made me pee a little: I gave my brother, who's deployed right now, GT5 as a Christmas gift idea, as it's something fun he could order from Amazon. I now regret that decision.

I think I just wet myself a little bit. Totally didn't expect it until late March or early April.
I've been playing AC:Brotherhood for the last few days, and it's fucking awesome. You start out with most of the shit you had at the end of AC2, so you don't have to worry about relearning skills or any of that garbage. Basically, this game is everything that was great about AC2, but bigger, and with cool new features. The Assassin's recruiting and training is pretty cool, and once you train them up to a certain level, they are kickass at helping in tough spots. And as a bonus, you are finally able to fight and climb as Desmond. In fact, you go through a pretty decent climbing puzzle just to get the animus set up once you get out the van. I haven't played the DLC yet, and in fact I'm only through sequence 4 as of leaving for work tonight, but it's just fun. 10/10 so far.
