After a few hours of Gran Turismo 5, I can definitely recommend this game to fans of the series. It's visually stunning as expected and the controls are tight as ever. You know a game is fun when you enjoy racing an '88 Accord. The one complaint I have thus far is this: The soundtrack is fucking abysmal. Remember how enjoyable the song selection was in Gran Turismo 3? Yeah, this is as bad as that one was great.

    I don't believe it.

Duke Nukem Forever is now available for pre-order on Amazon.

I got $50 in gift cards for Game Stop. Any suggestions for PS3 games? The last time I asked someone suggested Demon's Souls and I fucking LOVE that game. I have COD Black Ops, Demon's, Oblivion, Genji, Metal Gear Solid. Thanks guys.

Uncharted 1 & 2 - Easily the best franchise available for the PS3.

Anyone else give the Mass Effect 2 demo for the PS3 a run. I did, and it's seriously making me want to buy it again...if only for the Dark Horse comic that will serve as Mass Effect 1 since it can't be ported thanks to exclusivity agreements.

I played it, it was nice. I booted up my laptop and played it, then played it on PS3, no idea what the difference between the two engines are but sure.

Uncharted + Resistance Fall of Man The first game being great, the second game being very fucking solid. Also Infamous is a pretty fun game. God of War Collection maybe. There are so many.

Agreed, God of War 3 is unparalleled when it comes to sheer size and scale. Resistance 1 & 2 are great games as well but if I were given $50 and told I could only get one game, it would be Uncharted 2.

Uncharted 1 sets the bar for action/adventure gaming, but 2 surpasses it in every sense of the word.

If Indiana Jones rolled around naked in a field of awesome, then ran to Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft, fucked her hard and impregnated her, 9 months later Nathan Drake, star of Uncharted 1 & 2, would pop out.

    Does a 96 on Metacritic?

Edit: Posted before reading Nett's rep, but I'm leaving the Meta link up regardless...

So. I just finished Mass Effect 2. Ending was a letdown.

I especially disliked how, since I was playing as a female and none of the lesbian encounters are "real" relationships, and
I did one measly mission between the Collectors kidnapping my crew and going through the Omega-4 relay (it was Legion's loyalty mission)
I got half my crew pulped and my love interest killed and I wasn't able to mack on anyone else as consolation, thus missing out on this and this. This is bullshit.

And I didn't realize how much of the game is actually DLC. I oppose that on principle.

That said, it's far far better than the original Mass Effect. The characterization in particular stands out. Garrus and Joker (surprisingly enough) were made far more badass from the first game; Tali is made more tolerable* so you don't want to kill her outright, and Liara and Wrex (though they're not on your squad) have gotten pretty badass in the two years since you've been dead. In addition, Thane, Samara, Zaeed (free DLC) all have awesome backstories and characterization. I actually liked when Thane and Samara dipped into philosophy and religion; it gave insight to their motivations and avoided crossing the line into boring exposition. Legion was cool because he helped give info about the geth, whose motivations were previously a cipher. But my favorite character was probably Mordin, who not only had a lot of cool techno-babble to offer about pretty much anything, but also stood out with his subtle wit, not to mention sweet recruitment and loyalty missions and an interesting backstory. The bad: Miranda and Jacob are your typical Ashley Williams/Bastila and Kaidan Alenko/Carth Onasi Bioware pukes, but they are at least better than the aforementioned stock characters, or less annoying anyway. Jack gets tiresome with her "badass punk bitch" thing, and I'm irritated that she wasn't available for lesbian seduction after saying she had messed around with girls in the past.** And Grunt... let's just say he was outshone in every way by the tank-bred reject krogan you meet on the path before you even get to him.

Only thing I miss is the in-depth weapon and armor customization. The way it's done in Mass Effect 2 just plain sucks. Let's hope they add weapon stats back for Mass Effect 3.

*and we get to see that even quarian men wear hijabs. Fucking space Muslims. Seriously:

**Apparently if you play as a guy, she'll weep in cathartic absolution as you fuck her. I'm hard-pressed to believe anyone could put this monotone tard in the role of Shamhat, the purifying harlot:

The first time it was available for pre-order was about 8 years ago, if I remember correctly.

Hopefully this goes a bit better.

    Let's hope.

By the looks of the recently released trailers, it should be a grand spectacle.

"What are you waitin' for? Christmas?"

    "BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS!"

    Can't wait.

I played through both ME and ME2 a few months ago and yeah, there is a little bit of A and a little bit of B they could take and make for an awesome fucking game. But yeah, it really fucking sucked when you realized that you either could have bailed on 30% of the game content or very shitty storyline consequences. Usually games (for all the right reasons say) if you do X consequence will be Y or at least let you play the entire fucking game before saying "Hey, you gotta hurry this shit up." Not ME2. I'm mad they make you do that, but at the same time I appreciate the balls it takes for them to say "Fuck it, we're going to make it tough on them and of course make them play it again." Which I'm doing...assholes.

Ha! Do you know how many times I've beaten Mass Effect 1 so I could see all the changes and tweaks that happen with Mass Effect 2. Let's see...

    Mass Effect 1:
Male Paragon - Love interest Ashley
Male Paragon - Love interest Liara
Female Paragon - Love interest Aiden
    Female Renegade
    Male Renegade

Keep in mind that's just broad generalization. Not even counting the variations on whether I let the Arachni Queen live, killed or talked down Wrex, who gets left behind to detonate the nuke, whether to save the council or let them die, and who to install as the Human's representative on the council.

All of that let to Mass Effect 2:
    Male Paragon
    Male Renegade
    Female Paragon
    Female Renegade

I've banged every single supporting character except Zheed. The best is when you hate fuck Jack and get her jealous by banging Miranda. A close second is the secretary/personal assistant chick, she does all kinds of freaky dancing in your cabin. I've also seen pretty much every character die on impact when you use the last Mass Effect relay (Hint: Perform no ship upgrades). I've made it through with all supporting characters alive to get the Achievement. And yet after all of this I'm STILL going to get Mass Effect 2 for the PS3, both to see what it looks like rendered with the Mass Effect 3 graphics engine and to see the Dark Horse comic that takes the place of ME1.

Q4 2011 is going to be AWESOME. Diablo III, Mass Effect 3 and now Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim? I don't think I've been this excited since Half-Life 2 was announced.

Go to Bethesda's website and take a look at some other other titles they're working on. Looks like they'll have some amazing games out over the next year or so.

It's not a common choice, but for fans of the Mario Kart series who find it a little too simplistic, I'd recommend ModNation Racers as well. The online mode is enough fun that I've hardly touched Career Mode, and the sheer number of karts/characters/tracks that people have created and shared is staggering. I'd definitely go with an Uncharted game first, but ModNation Racers is a blast. Oh, and practically every Mario Kart track ever has been recreated in the game and shared for free.
