That is true; the decisions didn't really carry over in a substantial way. I wondered if the ME2 decisions would work the same way. For example, Honestly, it wouldn't bother me if a new cast is introduced for the finale, given that there looks to be a key shift not only in the locale, but, as you mentioned, the focus on the Collectors. The trailers have indicated that ME3 will be out by the end of the year, but is there any likelihood that it would be pushed back? Can I pretty much pencil it in that I'll continue my rescuing of the galaxy by Christmas? I say this, because I had a conversation last night with a buddy of mine who's very skeptical about the game actually being released in 'Holiday 2011.'
I was loaned a copy of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 yesterday. Having never played an FPS online outside of the COD series, I'm looking forward to see what this game has to offer that Call of Duty doesn't, and just seeing how they stack up alongside each other. Among other things, I've been told that you can blow holes through buildings? If that's true, that is so tits. Little things like that go a long way with me. If anyone wants to party up so I'm not completely fucking lost, send me an invite on Xbox.
You can make buildings collapse, let alone blow holes. Its better than COD in every way. Saw this game trailer today, I dont know if it was posted here before, but here goes: Decent trailer, and it would make a decent short film, but its a trailer for a video game. People are raving over it its emotional aspect, but who cares? I want to see some gameplay.
As long as it doesn't come out in early November, because then it's going to have to wait while I play this:
No clue. Mass Effect 1 came out 3 years ago. Mass Effect 2 came out in Spring 2010 (which correlated with a sharp decline in my grades). It's a possibility, considering they don't have to revamp the engine or anything.
We finally got a wireless router (N) for our PC. I've got my PS3 hooked up to the net (but I don't play multiplayer yet because I don't have a headset and I can't really download anything because my hard drive is full) but I can't get my 360 to connect. Please tell me I don't really have to buy one of those expensive-ass network adapter thingies! I realize I work in a video game store and should know this but we don't usually sell those stupid things so it rarely ever comes up. Also, anyone else kinda psyched for The Darkness II? Taken out of context (IE: you didn't read the comic books) the first one was weird but lots of fun. I didn't even realize they were doing a second one until I saw this on Gamespot last night: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/theda ... %3Bimg%3B2 Cool!
First, in my experience, there are much fewer people on headsets in the PS3 online community than on Xbox live. Also, you might have to buy a network adapter for your 360, as the older models didn't have Online capability. The newer model 360s all have the adapter built in, but older 360 models don't. Finally, I highly recommend upgrading your HDD for your PS3. It isn't tough to do (just removing a few screws, pending they aren't stripped or so tight you can't get them out). The only thing you really need to back up are your game saves, as you can always re-install and re-download anything you want. The PS3 uses laptop HDDs (and you can go to their website to find compatible Hard Drives), and I upgraded mine to a 500 GB HDD, and I love it. I never, ever worry about installing or downloading. I even put a bunch of music on there for shits and giggles. The two biggest things with this are that you should hang on to your old HDD in case you have to send it in for service, and you should be very careful not to over tighten the screws when you install it, as they can be really tough to get out.
Totally late to the party but I just downloaded Scott Pilgrim vs The World and was amazed at how good it is, it's basically just a reboot of River City Ransom, and I'd argue it's actually better. I'd even rank it over Castle Crashers which is now my second favorite game for PS3. Anyone know if a sequel is coming out or know of any games that play similarly to Scott Pilgrim and/or Castle Crashers?
Couldn't agree more. As abysmally awful as both the comic and movie was, the game "Scott Pilgrim" was very good. I love River City Ransom and many of the other games in the Kunio-Kun series, and the game was an excellent tribute to that style. "Castle Crashers" was also lots of fun; I don't know of any other recent side-scrolling beat em' ups besides those two that are good, but check out "Hard Corps: Uprising" that I mentioned on the last page. I have a feeling you'll like it very much, especially if you were even the slightest fan of the Contra series.
So after sending my PS3 in for "service" I finally got it back after 3 or so weeks. Service is in quotes because they just sent me a brand new PS3. Now I have to grill some tech geeks to find out how I can get my save games off my old HDD. I know something involving partitioning is required.
Nope, found out today I'm fucked. I'm going to sell half my games to Gamestop now because restarting them is pointless. And the other half I'll have to restart. Yay.
I downloaded and played the Dragon Age II demo today. It is pretty good, but different from Dragon Age in a few ways (This is for the PS3 version. I'm sure the computer version is slightly different). First and foremost, your character is voiced this time. At the start of the demo, you got to pick male or female, and pick from the 3 disciplines (mage, warrior, rogue). Apparently, you can customize appearance and other factors, but that was locked for the demo. Also locked for the demo was the equipment and item screens, so I'm not sure how they work or how they've been tweaked. You could look at the various skill trees for each discipline. It isn't really that different from Dragon Age, it is just arranged and looked different, but for the most part, it was the same. You pick a skill tree and develop it. For mages, there was elemental magic, healing magic, spirit magic, etc... For warriors there were two handed skills, shield skills, defensive skills, and the like. For rogues, there were skills like backstab and evade skills. For leveling up, they also simplified it a bit. Strength determines attack for warriors (and how much you get knocked back), Dexterity determines attack for rogues, and magic determines attack for mages. Willpower and constitution are the same (stamina and health), and cunning determines defense and critical hit percentage. They must've known people just picked two or three stats and maxed those out, depending on play style. The first game reminded me a lot of WoW in it's battles. DAII is much more action, along with some button mashing. The six skills are still mapped to the circle, triangle, and square buttons. The Radial Menu returns, too, along with the quick heal button (along with an added quick stamina button to restore stamina or mana, which is nice). Again, it pauses the action, so you can take a second to plan your next move. Overall, it just looks much better than the first game, graphically. I always thought Origins looked somewhat shitty for a PS3/360 game, while this game steps the graphics up significantly. Adding dialogue for the main character is a great addition, too. Overall, I am absolutely still picking it up, but there are some differences (notably in the fighting) that will take some getting used too, especially since I just finished playing through Origins again (wanted that Platinum trophy). I feel like they made a lot of small changes and tweaks, but it feels like a major leap forward.
I played through it last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I tend to overuse the sniper rifle in shooters, and the steerable bullets are way more fun than they should be.
Battlefeild 3 gameplay trailer: I was very impressed with BC2 but this just looks amazing. From what I've heard, other than having the same fully destructible environment, you can mount weapons damn near everywhere.
I played the demo as well, but I played the PC demo. DA:O I played on the 360, so I wanted to check out the difference. I think I may actually prefer playing on the PC, especially because of the UI. Instead of having to assign 3/6 actions to those three buttons, you have a full action bar, and the ability to click on enemies instead of cycling through them is nice too. I'll definitely be picking it up, but I'm going to wait for reviews and see if it is significantly better on any of the three consoles. Until then, Deadspace 2.
I actually had a GameStop experience where I walked out not wanting to kill all the employees and burn the store down. I traded in 17 games that I either beat, didn't care for or just couldn't start from the beginning again with. I ended up with 82 game credit, it would have been 40 cash. Probably around 5% of what I paid for all those games. A racket I tell you. I picked up Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Arkham Asylum which I've heard nothing but great things about. The fuckers have me coming back with a bogo deal where I have to go back to the store on another day to get it because it registers though the membership card. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is fun as hell. People have complained about the character list being too small and even worse the touted onslaught of DLC characters on their way. But from what I have right now, its fun as hell, the combat is more balanced, button smashers can have fun against button smashers and experts can have fun against experts.
Gamestop has all but put my store out of business since they opened a location catty-corner from us at the biggest intersection of my little suburb. I am now the manager of my Mom & Pop location (we overthrew the seat-peeing, Miata-driving manager back in January) which is why I'm rarely around here anymore. There are other locations of my store around in the SW Virginia area but I presume Gameplop will eventually push us out altogether. I hope that doesn't happen but I have to be realistic. I've hated Gamestop for years. They weren't too bad back when they were EB Games (I even had an Edge card at one point) but now they just suck. http://consumerist.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-se ... h=Gamestop Seriously, I implore you: whenever possible (and I know sometimes it's not possible), give your money to someone else. I'd almost advocate buying your games at Best Buy instead. I like Amazon myself, especially for pre-orders because they give you credit towards a future video game purchase. I have already pre-ordered Fear 3 (I refuse to call it that other ridiculous name) and Gears of War 3 and both carried a $20 credit which means I have an extra $40 to play around with. You can't beat that shit.
For those of you with computers that can't handle the games they make these days, check out GOG.com. They specialize in older games that hardly cost anything and come fully patched and ready to go. You pay, you download the game, install it, and play it. You can even download the same game over and over, as many times as you may need. I don't recall seeing a game over $10 on there, and there are some real gems.
