There was something so darkly satisfying about watching him cleanly kill every single person in the crowd. It was no doubt borderline pornography for anybody who hate/failed at public speaking. The latest theory is the Stormfront is Homelander’s mother. That would be hilarious.
In another subtle jab, we have the actor who played “Iceman” as this show’s version of “Pyro.” Hilarious. Also, I challenge anyone to find a TV episode that ends with a more hilarious song timing. I fucking died. I’m with Juice, I have no clue why people wouldn’t like this season. It’s been great so far. I am completely hooked to this show and will follow it to completion.
Bye bye subtlety. We're not alluding anymore. We're not insinuating, we're not implying. Stormfront really is just a straight up Nazi and her little speech may as well have been the 14 words. I mean they've left themselves no room but to take her down in the worst way, maybe Ms. Magneto will do it.
That chick is WAY more powerful than Magneto. The Question is whether she’s the “Big Bad” for this season, or they’ll keep her around. Homelander isn’t going anywhere, he’s the most popular character amongst viewers despite how utterly vile he is. Lamplighter, like A-Train and The Deep is MUCH better written for the show, and isn’t just a worthless piece of shit like in the comic. At least that’s what they’re leading us to believe here.
I could have sworn that the leader of the cult The Deep is in was Hugh Jackman. I looked it up and it wasn’t, but it’s a pretty close resemblance. One interesting change from the comics was that Butcher had injected all of his team with Compound V, including Hughie when he joined. I’m glad that’s not happening in the show.
...yet. Keep in mind, they haven’t actually engaged the superheroes in any direct “missions” yet like the way the comic chapters are broken up. This COULD work as an Edison age/blackmail teams, it has so far. But....,The whole point of the comic was their ability to directly engage and outfight “supes”, who have no tactical logic whatsoever (like on this show). My running prediction is that Butcher will inject at least Hughie once the “Clean V” comes in. It doesn’t make sense for these guys to be powerless the entire show. It also completely negates Mother’s Milk and why he has that name.
True. But with some of them, the longer they wait, it would kind of start ret-conning the show-version of the characters, though. MM’s entire backstory in the comic almost wouldn’t make sense at this point. They would need to at least change that part of it. The origins of the team is still kind of muddy in the show, so maybe they’ll come up with something on that front.
It all depends if “The Legend” comes in. Personally I thought he was the most important character, because he WAS the most important character. I think that honesty this show is it’s own beast. It uses the source material and characters like “Preacher” did, but wants to create as many new surprises for the comic readers as it does original ones for new fans. Let’s face it... the final scene in last season was so beautifully sociopathic— destroying the entire narrative for the main characters motivations— that I hope they KEEP wrecking the comic narrative. I like surprises.
GodDAMN, son. That climax put “Scanners” to shame. I mean, something HAD to happen to keep things going but holy shit.
Yeah, no shit. That was nuts. The theory I’ve read is that it was the Vought CEO doing it and he’s a insanely powerful supe in his own right. That would explain why he has no fear of Homelander whatsoever.
Are you sure it wasn’t the bald girl modelled after Dark Phoenix who escaped the loony bin last episode? I HOPE it’s not Gus doing it. I like having him as the Stillwell from the comics: an uncompromising executive who has no fear whatsoever of supes (or anybody) because he’s “The Money”. After that scene it wouldn’t make sense for him to kill Shockwave, since he hired him for The Seven. Of course this could be a stunt like Homelander crashing the plane for more diabolical purposes. Of course since you read the comics, there’s other “exploding head” plots for you to theorize yourself.
The show answered a long-running question I had since last year, for a couple years during any time in Toronto for us and going to Jays games, Roy Thompson Hall had this big black wall around the front of it. That’s because it’s Vought HQ, and half the show is shot in and around there. The “99th floor” scenes are shot in a section of the CN tower they closed off to the public for “renovations” Roy Thompson Hall:
So it could be the escape bald girl, but does explain the hot CIA chick’s head exploding in the season opener? If she was institutionalized, how would that occur? But then again, it wouldn’t explain why Stan Edgar would have The Boys in his proverbial gun sights and not take them out.
It’s a good noodle-scratcher. Stormfront has seemed to be onto it ahead of everyone so far this season, perhaps SHE can control the telekinetic chick but other can’t. I am really looking forward to the finale. I’m glad it didn’t get released binge-style, personally.
This show's high points are, as mentioned, truly high. But I also love the small jokes and details thrown in, like The Deep feeling his head to make sure it was still there when everyone's heads started popping, even though he's thousands of miles away watching on TV. Or Butcher driving straight over the grass instead of around the driveway. Also the Lord of the Rings reunion. Although their characters don't ever meet in LOTR.
Do you mean Butcher and Lamplighter? He looks like that Hobbitt Merry, but Ashmore is Canadian. He was Iceman and has mostly done Canadian movies & TV since then. Unless you mean somebody else entirely. Butcher driving over the lawn legit made me howl. They mix humour with his ruthlessness so seamlessly.
I caught that too. To me, Karl Urban is always the guy from the Riddick movie, but I did notice they were both LOTR alums. The driving over the lawn, the mumbled vulgarity and the general scowling is a perfect adaptation of the character. Butcher is the perfect anti-hero scumbag. As for the style of releasing the show, I kind of wish they released it in binge-format. I would crush the entire season on one rainy Saturday, if that ever happens again in the northeast.
Ah. Good eye. I recognized the actor from a couple of movies like “Anna” but not much else. They did a good job of making you think Butcher would throw him over the balcony the whole time during that scene. Karl Urban crushed that episode.
