Sometimes I think people are stupid and there are times when I know they are dumb. This is one of those cases where you were an idiot. A couple cups of coffee would probably get you jacked and jittery without taking the ritalin. Add the ritalin to that and you get the effect you witnessed. I'm sure had you not drank all that coffee you would have been fine. I'm prescribed Adderall so I have a bit of knowledge with it and booze. If I am going out for the night and I want to impress a chick I take my meds. I do this because when I am on them I form my thoughts better and express them more clearly. Usually I have trouble with overstating things because I am a bit hyperactive and just say wildly overstated things. With Adderall I tend to be able to think things out more before I say them. That being said with booze, I don't notice too much of an interaction. Maybe because I am use to it and maybe I know how to drink and hardly ever get out of control.
I started Vyvanse about a month ago for ADHD and felt what you felt on Ritalin for the first week--much more positive, outgoing, general state of well-being, but on day 3, I had a test and had great difficulty organizing my thoughts and concentrating (and all of the material on the test I was familiar with from 2 other classes). Eventually, that positive feeling waned and I didn't notice any significant improvement in my ability to focus and concentrate. I met with my doc last week and he said all I experienced were the amphetamine effects. I'm trying Nuvigil now and really don't see any noticeable difference in concentration which leads me to believe the ADHD was a misdiagnosis on the part of the neuropsychologist. The doc gave me a 2 week trial supply of the Nuvigil so I'll finish it and see what happens, but for the nominal benefit I'm experiencing (i.e., not hitting the wall around 2-3 pm) I can't justify the $50/month co-pay on this stuff. Coffee is a lot cheaper. As for interaction with alcohol, I can't speak from experience as I don't drink, but caution should always be exercised when combining alcohol with pharmaceuticals. Ritalin and alcohol both increase dopamine release so drug synergy can be expected.
I got some alza 18 (Concerta or Methylphenidate) and have took one to try and cram more in for finals. I notice that it helps me focus a bit more, but I just feel normal. I don't feel like I'm glued to reading my book. Should I up the dosage to 2 of the pills, or is my perception of what it's supposed to do different than what it actually does? Is there any harm in taking 2 of these pills?
I broke my glass pipe while cleaning it in preparation for getting some super good oil. I now have the oil but have no pipe, other then smearing it on a paper how else can I smoke it?
Its honey oil a friend just finished making. I had thought about smearing it on a smoke but I really hate mixing any sort of green with tobacco.I just finished fashioning a ghetto gravity bong out of a pop bottle, I feel a little high school smoking out of it but it does the job. Also, I think I worded my original post a little wonky. I was not trying to clean the oil/resin out of my pipe to smoke, I was cleaning my now broken pipe in preparation for getting the honey oil.
If it was the very first time you ever took it, it makes sense that you felt the effects stronger than expected. The first time you take it has the most effect, and if you go off it for a while and then restart, the effects seem stronger again, but never as much as the first time. The coffee definitely had some bad effects, I would bet that it was primarily the caffeine that gave you trouble staying focused and connecting your thoughts. I take Vyvanse for ADD, and it has the same effects on my personality that you listed. I become a little more outgoing and a little more confident. Sometimes, it makes me a little too outgoing, and my wife lets me know to stop being annoying. Vyvanse is really nice because of the mechanism it uses for administration in your body. Vyvanse is basically Adderall that has been chemically bonded with an amino acid. In order for the drug to be absorbed into your bloodstream, digestive enzymes have to break that bond. What this means for the person taking it is that it has a gradual onset, doesn't have the high peak that Ritalin and Adderall can have, lasts a long time (around 12 hours), and has a very gradual come-down. They did this to prevent abuse primarily, taking a higher dosage of Vyvanse won't really get you 'higher,' it just makes it last longer. If I take two pills in the morning instead of one, I feel basically the same, but it lasts 24 hours instead of 12. As far as alcohol combination, I can only tell you about my experiences with Vyvanse. Having Vyvanse in my system when I'm drinking allows me to focus and carry on conversations better, but it also prevents me from really feeling drunk. Sometimes that's good, because it keeps me alert and awake and able to function, but sometimes you just want to get stupid drunk and pass out. Vyvanse is a miracle drug when it comes to hangovers though. No matter how hung over I am, if I pop a Vyvanse, my headache goes away within the hour, I get back all my energy, and I feel normal within 2 hours or less.
Having lurked about on this thread I'm not nearly as well-versed in drugs as any other poster (my fragile, Bubble Boy-like system barely tolerates caffine and alcohol) but there was a funny little medication incident a few weeks back. I get a text from a girl I know reasonably well - someone quite nice, stable, generally cool to hang out with - that says "I've taken too much immodium." This strikes me as a little odd but, given my complete ignorance of drugs and desire not to have texts from a corpse sitting in my inbox when any cops come calling, I send off a message to a medic friend asking what exactly happens if someone was to take too much of this "immodium"? Now, you'd think I'd get a response like "Oh that's just anti-diarrheal" or "You're not suicidal, stop fucking around." What did the reply actually say? "Let me guess, some girl you've jilted has tried to poison you?" Maybe I need to re-evalute the way I treat women if this is what people expect to happen to me.
Honestly a few cups of coffee didn't help the situation. Ive used adderall as a drinking aid for a while as well. It depends on how you take them but most of the time I just can't get sloppy drunk. I don't remember doing much hard core drinking mixing tons of beer and liquor while on it. But for keggers and beer pong/flip cup style parties, you can't really beat it. Depending on how you take it really changes the outcome. Crushing them up and tooting them will give you that coke style high with the throat drip, plus you get to explain that you aren't some drug addicted creepster to people who are offended. The come down off of this is by far the worse. On top of a hangover you get a really bitching tension headache from gnawing your jaw all night. Parachuting, crushing it and twisting it up in a napkin and swallowing it, hits you quicker than just popping them and seems a little stronger as well. And if your boring I guess you could just take one orally.
I had to look this up, but if this means Butane Hash Oil, then yes, I smoked some hash oil earlier today. That shit is crazy it really fucks you up.
Hash is fun. Just make sure you get the kind that makes high instead of stoned. Back in my freshman year of college we had some hash. Smoked it and proceeded to sit around laughing playing Halo for a couple of hours. We were so high for that we couldn't order food and made out sober pushover friend do it. The second time I smoked hash I got the type that makes you stoned. I was so stoned to the extent that when I got a house party all I could do was sit on the couch and smile.
Yessir All different types with all different names haha, I wish I could make some but its like 8 grams of good bud for 1 gram of good oil...and headies goes for 50 an 8th here!
Any tips for someone about to try mushrooms for the first time? I know that's kind of a broad question but I'm a little excited/nervous as I haven't had any type of psychedelic.
First and foremost tip, don't worry. It's really not a big deal at all. First time I did it I took an 1/8. I was told this is a pretty big dose for a first timer, but I really had a blast. Maybe the ones I had weren't too strong, but I didn't hallucinate or anything. It was just a very different way of experiencing reality. I was giggly as all hell and just hung out and bullshat for like 4-5 hours. Went on some swings too which was amazing. You'll notice things you never noticed before. The only other tip I'd give is go in with a nice clear mind. Make sure you don't have any major stresses or any mental issues to work out. Go in with a nice happy frame of mind and you'll have a fucking blast.
Not having a go at you but the mushrooms you took must have been shit. I ate a bag in Bali last year and was tripping balls for a good few hours. Even when I closed my eyes it looked like a kaleidoscope with heaps of orange and purple... hard to explain but I had a great time. Just go in happy and enjoy the trip, it's awesome fun.
In addition to echoing everything that's been said: Always have water, shelter, and a safe haven nearby. And a sober friend ready to pick you up if you need it. Ideally take them with someone who's taken them before. Other than that, have a great fucking time. As for methods of consumption, last time I did it we crushed them into a smoothie. Some of my friends added a bunch of Airborne (for the vitamin C) and their visuals were cooler than mine -- although that could've been because they weighed less than me.
