The one thing I can most assuredly take away from seeing the American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, is that that film did to Enya's "Orinoco Flow" what Blue Velvet did to "In Dreams", A Clockwork Orange did to "Singin' In the Rain" and Reservoir Dogs to "Stuck In the Middle With You".

What a morning already. Came home at 730 to find my roommate pacing around the living room, strung out on something, while a couple of his friends sat blankly on the couch. So, shitty dance music was blasting from the speakers.

I'm not sure what I'm more annoyed with, him or the music.

I expect today to be one of the longest, most boring days of work I've had in a while. Half the office isn't even here, and I've already resigned myself to doing zero actual work today.

In brighter news, I still haven't tried out the whisky stones and Glencairn glasses I got for Christmas, so I'm thinking that I'll get whisky drunk tonight.

Same boat here, good thing too since someone (arrow pointing directly at me) thought it would be a good idea to stay up drunk watching the Baylor/Washington game. So here I sit, hungover, trying not to fall asleep at my desk. At least the game was entertaining.

It's one of the executive assistants' birthday today, and since there's so few people upstairs in the corporate office, about 5 of us just had 2 champagne bottles worth of mimosas. Of course, I'm the only one who had to come back downstairs and actually work. This should be interesting.

What is the point of double-clutching? I've read several descriptions and explanations, and I get that it allows you to shift into your next gear sooner. What I don't get is how that helps when you're still going under the speed you should be going for that gear. RPMs match, cool, but there's a reason your engine makes a pissy noise when you try to go 25mph in 4th gear.

    What am I missing here?

I thought double-clutching was really for manual transmissions that weren't synchronized, like in the original Fiat 500s. On modern cars, though? Besides, unless your revs and speed are totally out of whack when you engage the clutch, the revs will adjust to your speed without much of a jolt.

Holy shit I am feeling this. Plus I was just informed by the aforementioned assistant that she poured more champagne in my drinks since "I was the only one who had to get through a day of actual work". My boss just came by my desk and I was fighting the urge not to laugh the whole time. This is fucking fantastic.

Drivers still use double-clutching on large trucks, too.

    Also, Jason Kidd.

LOOK MY HOOD GOT SOME MEAN STREETS, OK?! Those Yorkies have sharp teeth, and the lines for bagels get awfully pushy on a Saturday morning.

I love ass as much as anyone, but it'd be awfully nice if y'all could spoiler/NSFW tag images for those of us bored at work....

I received one of these braid bread pastries from a co-worker for Christmas. Took it out last night, followed them directions to thaw and let rise, then baked it this morning. Holy shit is this thing awesome! Unfortunately, they're only sold via fundraisers. So, for those of you with kids who get bombarded with fundraising requests from school, activities etc, if you see this, but 'em! Easy, delicious and awesome.

Yeah, but her thighs are a bit thick, and the hair a bit short.

Overall, she could probably lose 5-10lbs.

    In a pinch, I guess she'd do...

I'm kidding! Jeez, put away the tar and feathers and nooses...

There should be no stigma for drinking in the morning. I hate people like that. As long as I'm not drinking before/during work or before/while driving, people shouldn't care.

    That's a man, baby.

And go right ahead. It doesn't necessarily mean you're gay.

    Then again, it doesn't help...

Hey lust, my boys are not even four yet, and both over 40lbs. I've got a couple of defensive ends in the works. But I'm sure ballet recitals, and choir shows are fun too.

    BOOM! TACKLED FOR LOSS!
