This. Double clutching is only necessary in non-synchronized transmissions. Some more recent cars though (VWs and Audis come to mind) are known to have problems with grinding synchros in the cold before the transmission heats up. Double clutching in that situation would prevent premature wear on the synchro.

The only difference between Parker's weekend report and any other weekend down here is the presence of football players.

I'm in the same boat, because both my immediate and extended family is pretty much crazy & drama-free. However I learned on Christmas Eve that my Mom's husband's (they've been married about 2.5 years; let's call him D) ex-wife is a crazy bitch. I was supposed to go over to her and D's house on Christmas morning and got a call at 7 pm Christmas Eve from my Mom asking if she could stay at my place for the night. Apparently she wanted to get away from her house because D's ex-wife served him with a lawsuit (again, apparently this isn't the first time) alleging parental neglect on his part, mentioning my Mom as part of the problem. She didn't go into the details but I guess here's a couple of examples of what a terrible, neglectful father D is to his two boys:

-The older boy doesn't get his practice in on his bass because there are too many distractions at my Mom's place such as video games.
-He also doesn't get fed properly because his breakfast isn't served exactly at 10 AM when he's used to, and sometimes my Mom (who's an excellent cook) serves him things that he doesn't like.

I've never even met D's ex-wife nor do I even know her name, but I'm outraged this fucking cunt has the audacity to criticize my Mom, and just thinking about the situation makes me angry. It's a good thing I don't have to have any sort of interaction with this woman because I don't know how I'd be able to even stand to be in the same room with her. And none of this stuff has anything to do with me. I have no idea how people cope with actual family drama that impacts their lives.

How many locals have told you sob stories about how much Katrina and the oil spill ruined their lives in an attempt to get tips? Have you gotten used to the smell of urine and or rotting garbage yet?

I don't know the demographic breakdown, but the man found strangled in a scrap yard yesterday brought the murder total to 198 for the year.

Apparently, it's "not about" her, so it's cool.

So I told her that if I'm there, he can't be. If he's invited, I won't be attending. Simply put.

I've never been to NOLA, other than passing through on the way to Texas. I haven't had much of a desire to go.

You should go to your Mom's party and come to New Orleans, shimmered. Bring a gun. To both places.

It's fun to party for roughly 24 hours. After that you will see the city for what it truly is. A crime ridden cesspool that smells like a homeless cunt.

Although I feel the open container laws should be extended throughout the rest of the country.

To be fair, over the duration of this board and the other one, haven't you said more or less the same thing about every major city?

I think only Cleveland and St. Louis. I pretty much like most other large cities I've spent time in.

Edit: Detroit also. Always forget about that one.

    What's everyone's least favourite city?

Personally, Paris did nothing for me. I can't think of any in North America that are too bad that I've been to. I've only ever driven around Detroit, so I can't list that one.

    Binbrook's a real shithole.

I'm 8 hours into my last 24 hour duty of the year. Everyone cleared out of the squadron around noon and it has just been and will be me and my "assistant" for the rest of the night. At least football is on.

And I'd have to say Jacksonville, NC is the worst city in the US. It's just a collection of fast food joints, bail bonds, pawn shops, shady auto dealers and mechanics, check cashing places, and dirty strip clubs.

Really? I've always enjoyed Houston whenever I've visited. Sugarland is nice.
