    Fuck TSN and all the Canadian CBS affiliates. TSN is SUPPOSED to be showing NFL postgame...instead, it's a taped lacrosse match. Every single network carrying the game cut from it immediately to their regular programming, since it went into overtime. I guess we don't get to watch any analysis up in the north.

    Jesus Christ this pisses me off. They do the same bullshit with racing. If it isn't hockey (or, evidently, lacrosse) they don't care about it.

    Been there, done it. I worked as a barback many years ago in a bar in lily white Clear Lake, Tx. where the only white people in it were the ones working.

    They set it up that way.

    I'm still very close with three of them. Whenever we all get together, the quote that almost always gets brought up is the one where I was washing glasses and the big woman watching said, "Boy, fo' dis' night is true, I's goin' ta' have my way wit' you!"

    Thursday night was $2 Long Island Iced Tea night. I will never forget how hard it was to get all that lipstick off those glasses.

    That, and watching people drink Courvoisier and milk. Gin and juice too.

    I waited tables in a predominantly black neighborhood. It was about 80% black, 20% white. I served many large, black families enjoying their Sunday after-church lunches or wedding receptions. Sometimes other waiters would come back and tell me they overheard my table talking about how they were "looking forward to making their little white waitress run around all afternoon". I overheard tables say it about other waiters, also. I responded by spending the majority of the time in the back/helping others. I'll take my 18% grat and keep the little bit left of my dignity, assholes.

    The worst were tables of middle-aged black women. They fucking HATED me before I even said a word. Life (and money) got about 100% better when I worked someplace more diverse.

    This reminds me that the people I met in New York were, for some ungodly reason, chasing their shots of bourbon with jalapeno pickle juice. Something about going to a restaurant of a certain ethnicity and trying pickle juice as a chaser, and then buying pickled jalapenos instead of normal pickles. I tried it once to fit in. I felt like it really should have gone the other way; pickle juice, and a bourbon shot to wash it down.

    In other news, this is my contribution to making it to 500 pages.
