I once saw a documentary on the KKK where they were at a cross burning, and some KKK member was screaming about how amazing Jesus was, and how all Jews were evil.

Well, Ms. Monroe deleted her post, but this is still interesting in a geeky way:

My point exactly. It's ridiculous. I'll admit to not being knowledgeable about everything. There are still things to learn. But you better believe that I'll know a bit of the back story, history, and finer details of something that I am publicly protesting and/or demonstrating about.

I think mental images of Jesus are subjective. For example, can you see Jesus here?

For the record, neither I can I. Just for laughs.

    Here are some seasonal boobies.

Yea, bud. Thanks for loaning it to me. The boys should have it back up to you in 10 to 12. Sorry about the midget shit in the trunk, but they wouldn't stop fighting each other over who had to clean it up so we just left them all back there.

Right. Didn't even apologize for the dead midgets, either; just their shit.

    Clearly, I've completely underestimated you.

Okay, question for you all: the guy in the Allstate commercial:

In each of his commercials, he gets more and more beat up. Wearing a bandaid on his head, black eye, etc. Anyone know why?

Probably a continuity thing for "fans" to show that each commercial he gets progressively more fucked up as the stunts get bigger and wackier. Duhhhhhh.

Hey, James Bond doesn't bother to explain what happened to the last Bond girl at the beginning of each new movie. A fresh start is assumed.

EDIT: Not a P.Eng, thank God. C.E.T. We were talking about this at work today. The level of liability the two engineers in my office have is insane. It's why a third guy, who graduated years ago, has never tried for his P.Eng certification...too much fucking liability for stuff you can't control.

They can, to a certain degree. Their start-up salaries are higher. I find, though, that Techs seem to go into the hands-on side of things after graduation, and Engineers do more theoretical stuff. So after a number of years it's usually the Techs who have a better understanding of what is actually happening, since they're the ones who have spent the most time on site or with the other trades.

I did two years of engineering at UofC and hated - HATED - the University of Calgary. I switch to UofL and did business management with a construction mgmt minor, then after grad went back and picked up the civil engineering diploma so that I still had the technical background. Technically (no pun intended) I have more education than an engineer, just less liability.

This is how it works, at least in my office: if one of the designers loses their mind and designs something unsafe, it goes to site and eventually collapses the two engineers I work with would get sued. Keeping in mind, they are not anyone's supervisor and they would likely not even know that particular job existed. They also have unlimited personal liability, meaning if the courts really wanted to get nasty they could go after their homes and assets. All for something they had nothing whatsoever to do with.

    No thanks.

Liability's not so bad. Just carry an assload of insurance, and when all else fails, your insurance company is going to settle before it gets to a finding of malpractice, which won't show up on your record.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha fuck. By law I need to carry at least 2 million. And I can really only fuck up one thing at a time. When a bridge fails, that's hundreds of people going down.

This was one of the reasons I was grateful that my license is not THEIR license. If something collapsed and killed your family, would $1M cover it? I think not.
