Is that two bikes you have now? Didn't you buy a new one last year? Not that there is anything wrong with that, owning multiple bikes. I remember when, between three other friends and I, we owned a total of 17. Between the pit bikes and a couple of big bikes each, they added up.
Yeah, I bought a brand new Aprilia Shiver 900 last year, and sold it in March. Nothing wrong with it, but it was just....underwhelming. After 100 miles on this thing, I can't envision buying anything like that again. It's light-years apart in terms of comfort, speed, ease of use and fun. The Shiver had almost no top end. It maxed out with my 250 lbs ass at 90 mph, and it wasn't a good time at that speed. This thing at 80 is smooth as silk, with plenty of speed and power left. The only thing I am adjusting to is the vtec kicking in at 6500 rpm and a transmission that's a bit rougher. I have yet to put it 6th gear, and I am.hoping for an early morning interstate trip without a ton of traffic to experiment. Weirdly, for my riding style a 15 year old bike for less than half the money, and 100cc smaller engine is superior to a brand new Italian.
I still wish I had my old mid-80's RZ350. It was just a blast to ride. Ran across this last week and it was awesome!
@Puffman has a fucking RZ350? YOU BASTARD! We need to see pics of it! For shits and giggles I hit up online adds and they are NOWHERE to be found... one POS for $5k that has none of the body work (which was always hard to replace if you dropped it). I'm super jealous!
I'm not real familiar with anything from Aprilia. You think it was mostly the aerodynamic difference between the bikes? IME, 90mph on anything without fairings and a windscreen to duck behind, sucks. I did 90+ on my Shadow once, felt like my helmet was going to pull my head from my neck.
The gears, for sure. The Shiver is a naked, and is intended to deliver a lot of torque at low end. It red lined at 6500 rpm or 7k, if I recall correctly. It just didn't have the top end speed. 6th gear, red lined I doubt jt could break 100 with someone my size on it.. This thing red lines at 11k, I think. No way I will ever hit the top of its top end. To be fair, I didn't buy the Shiver to do 100+ mph, but it was disappointing. It was more comfy than my 2012 Streetfighter, and it was new. That's about it.
15 years on this board and I do not know how to post a photo. I will have the twins help me and get some posted this weekend.
Many chain driven bikes come geared too low, IMO. Adding a tooth to the front sprocket or dropping 5+ on the rear usually livens a bike right up, unless the engine is truly underpowered. I've changed many sprockets out to get the right power curve
Finally got around to registering the new bike. The seller had the title as "Dudes Name, care of Dudes Name Company". The DMV asked for paperwork saying he was authorized to sign for a company bearing his own fucking Name....for a $3k bike. I was like, "Ma'am, if this is where you're at in life, how the hell did you get here?" Fortunately, I went to another one and she had three bbs in her head instead of the two, and got it done.
I absolutely love my bike, '12 GSX-R 750. My problem is if i am riding it i love to ride it how it is supposed to be rode, fast. I try and go out for a cruise in it and it always ends up with me doing at least 160 kph. The weather is usually shit around here, when i was younger it didn't bother me as much because i also had less responsibilities so i could take off when ever i wanted. But the past few years, i have barely rode it. I am contemplating selling it because it just sits there, but i really dont want to.
Looks like a Diavel-esque hermaphrodite. Am I seeing an inline six? The seat looks ridiculously far back, unless you have Drax's gorilla arms/reach. Not sure what they were going for there.
Any of yall ever play with an electric bike? It's spring, and apparently I buy a bike every year. I am curious if a Zero is worth it.
