Jose Gonzalez. I wish more guitarists would embrace nylon strings. He currently plays in a band called Junip.
Mumford and Sons- The Cave They're a relatively new band from the UK and their 09 debut Sigh No More is quite solid. They sometimes sound really folk-y, as they play a banjo, but it all comes together very well. The lyrics are great. Also try "White Blank Page" or "Little Lion Man"
The new Girl Talk and Kayne is sick. Just got the Bruce Springsteen Darkness on the Edge of Town from that HBO special, as well.
Anybody heard the new My Chemical Romance album? It's not due out for another couple days, but it's on a few torrent sites and it's pretty amazing. Not as hardcorely emo as their first three, and definitely pretty catchy and hooky. I've been playing it entirely too loud in my car all day and loving it. Here's a taste from the video for their first single. A little lame because of some weird editing, but hilarious nonetheless.
I don't have a youtube link for this song but I do have the download: It's Com Truise, remixing Neon Indians Sleep Paralysist: Sleep Paralysist, Eyelid remix St. Vincent - The Strangers
Bob Lefsetz is a big fan of these guys, which is a pretty big recommendation. Here's my thoughts on Kanye's album. Spoiler: It's good. Been listening to a lot of the White Stripes lately. A little throwback garage rock.
THIS. This a million, billion times. This album is absolutely amazing. Monster is the collaboration of the year, and convinced me that I totally haven't been taking Nikki Minaj seriously enough. Although I still don't know what "put the pussy in a sarcophagus" means.
I was a bit surprised to see nothing turn up in a search for this. I give you the Gaslight Anthem. New Jersey punk but with a sound of its own. If you haven't heard these guys yet, you're missing out on some amazing stuff.
Danger Mouse's discography is being streamed on this site: <a class="postlink" href="http://mediocremusicblog.com/2010/06/why-dangermouse-just-might-be-the-finest-producer-of-the-21st/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://mediocremusicblog.com/2010/06/wh ... -the-21st/</a> I'm listening to his first full length album from when he was still in college and it's pretty damn good.
Looking on my iTunes, this is the most played song at the moment. Love this band, used to hate them until I saw them live in Quebec City.. one of the best acts I've ever seen.
Republic of Loose, an Irish funk band that is infinitely better than you think "Irish funk" would be.
I'm looking for bands/songs that have a sound similar to Flogging Molly's Another Bag of Bricks and/or it's inspiration, The Pogues' Turkish Song of the Damned. Especially Song of the Damned, that tune makes me nuts every time I hear it. Any suggestions?
I've been listening to Adele non-stop for the past couple of days. She's the voice sampled for this song: As good as her studio stuff is, the bonus acoustic disc from the deluxe version of 19 is on a whole nother level. Check it out: And this is from her latest album, 21: Ridiculous.
Anyone listen to The Antlers? Their last album 'Hospice' was one of the best albums from beginning to end I've ever heard. There new one Burst Apart is a bit different but still is crazy good.
