Okay, I'll bite: how, pray tell, does one 'eat' whiskey? Is this another coonass thing? Was it as delicious as traditional whiskey, and how much did it help you in your pursuit of Dozer?

I had no issue with it. Both The Edge and Kimmy Page went through a huge phase like that themselves, when they were at Jacks age and progression in their careers. They both were a little over the top for a long time. Perhaps, it's an age thing; they've mellowed out in their personal lives and one portrayal is image.

I loved watching Page play. So fluid, every movement was subtle and graceful - no waste. It was amazing.

edit: wow that was kind of gay.

It was awesome watching them learn new songs together, and fucking up, and just being guys jamming.

Page also played a couple of brand new pieces in that documentary, Embryo No. 1 and 2, which he played just for that show. Rolling Stone had an article about it explaining how he didn't want people to think he was just resting on his laurels; he was still working on new stuff and playing.

It's just so cool to see him as an Elder Statesman who plays kick-ass guitar.

It was also really cool seeing the connection that Page had with White when they were doing the delta slide stuff... unfortunately, you could see that Edge didn't have that background, and wasn't playing much, and was trying to pick it up. When he did play, he was doing more of a gentle layering thing above it all as is his predilection, being more of a "sound architect" than a raw guitar player.

The one part that will never get old, though, was seeing Page in his "guitar closet". It was huge. Guitars in cases for as far as you could see. Damn.

Where are the thread suggestions, people? May I remind you that any thread suggestion that gets posted while the drunk thread is open this weekend WILL GET RUN and there are prizes for good (and terrible) threads.

This board is driven by its community. Its admins and moderators are only the tip of the spear. The Beast that is TiB feeds on your ideas, on your passion, and on your alcohol-fueled ramblings.

And The Beast is always hungry.

So as much as I'd like to respect Crown Royal's position on DJ's (being that he is one), my experience tonight has left a terrible taste in my mouth.

A girl friend of mine wanted to go out to a club for her birthday, and I happily obliged seeing as I had no prior bad experiences with shitty clubs. I got drunk beforehand, drank at the bar, etc etc.

Later in the night, I got it in my head that I wanted to request a song from the DJ. I approached the DJ, motioned to him with my hands that I wanted to get his attention/ ask him perhaps a question.

I got a hand in the face from the DJ, and then what I assume to be some sort of monitor from the DJ also in my face. I pushed the monitor down to ask the guy WTF, and then was grabbed from my neck and back from a bouncer, who moved me down the stairs to the outside of the club. The entire time I was so confused I just kept asking the guy "why are you doing this, I've done absolutely nothing wrong."

So, I attempt to talk to the guy outside and get nothing, the girl checking wristbands was being a giant bitch, so I got the attention of both the club owner and head bouncer and got back in about 10 minutes later.

Just a shitty experience to what was otherwise a fine night, and it's ridiculous that this kind of conduct was allowed at this club. I sound very hoighty toighty right now, I'll probably just end up copypasta-ing this post to the club manager, but either way it's just disappointing that that is somehow the norm for a "club." Not something I'm going to return to, and not something that brings up my opinion of "DJs" now or in the future.

In my experience, clubs (this includes staff, owners, hired DJs, and even the people partying inside) give less than a shit about you, or anyone but themselves.

Makes sense, really. I mean, who the fuck goes to a club, whether as a guest or a staff member, thinking that they're going to do some good in the world? It takes a certain breed of person to enjoy that environment, and from the sounds of it, you are decidedly not of that breed.

You're not missing much. You've seen all it has to offer.

Did you know in 25 seasons and 186 cast members there has never been an Asian guy on The Real World?

I am Whitey McCracker but in solidarity with my Eastern brethren: that's kinda messed up.

Well no one wants to watch guys sit around and play Starcraft.

I kid, I kid. Population demographics would suggest 1 out of 4 people of those 186 shoulda been Asian.
