She has been sick, she liquid poo'd three times in the house yesterday, twice on hardwood, once on the carpet. Good thing I was at work and the wife was home, so i didn't have to deal with it. But you know she is sick when she just curls up on the couch and doesn't move. You breathe differently and she normally looks up, you stand up and she is right by your side. The entire night we were moving around and she didn't even move her head up once. But she is better today.
Forgot about this pic, Molly helping my mom take down Christmas decorations a few months back. She decided one of the stuffed Santas was hers.
This is my new ball of fluff. I haven't named him yet but seriously...every time this thing moves...I squee. It's getting ridiculous.
The little dude has found a new home with a large, fenced in, yard and a great couple to take care of him.
My brother posted this photo with the caption "Hipster dog is very obscure... You've probably never heard of him." I laughed pretty hard.
One more for good measure. The Mohawk is looking kinda "Flock of Seagulls," due to its blondeness and length. That's probably why Fin is driving.
We got a doggie today! He's part mastiff/hound/shepherd and his mastiff personality really shines. He is a super laid back dog and spends a lot of time sitting on my feet. I'm in love.
Went on a hike today with Avett. This ended up being pretty cool. (I am wearing an ankle brace, not one sock)
Does anyone have tips on getting a dog to be more playful? Buddy follows me around all day and pretends to sleep, but if I leave the room he's up in a second to follow me to the next room. We bought some tennis balls and El Husband tries to wrestle with him but Buddy just goes ragdoll and lets him roughhouse him. Obviously Buddy is very submissive. Exercise isn't the issue here since I take him on walks and runs every day. I'm just wondering if this is behavior that will ever change. And just because: ALL. DAY.
This is my best friend and his wife's dog. She managed to blow out one of her hind ACL's, and while they were figuring out what was going on, she blew out the other one limping around on it. Double ACL surgery, and $3,000 later: She's wheelchair bound for the next six weeks, but is expected to make a full recovery.
Well, a few things... - He's a mastiff mix. Which means there's a huge chance he's like my Abraham: low energy. If he's naturally like that, he'll never be a super energetic, playful dog. Also, immediately following you to whatever room you're in is normal. Abe does that all the time. Personally, I think it's a German Shepherd trait more so than any other breed. Shepherds tend to bond strongly with ONE person, and to not tolerate separation well. He could have Shepherd in him (though it's consistent with mastiff, too). - He's a puppy. He has only two speeds: wide open or passed out. If you're running with him and walking him, and if he's naturally low-energy, then that's it. His tank is empty. Be grateful for this; it spoils you into thinking that puppies are just this easy and wondering what everyone else is complaining about. Then you go and adopt a terrier and it blows that fucking idea right out of the water. But I digress. - Have him checked for worms. And heartworm. We had a Rottweiler when I was growing up. Mellowest, most laid back dog EVER. Then two weeks into it we realized the breeders hadn't dewormed the bitch and he had one of the worst cases of worms I've ever seen. He almost died on us the night we realized what was happening, so yeah. Make sure he doesn't have a health issue.
What Dcc001 said. Also he could also just be uninterested in tennis balls and wrestling. Have you tried out any other kinds of toys or games? knotted ropes for tug-o-war, squeeky toys etc? If its not a health issue or just a breed specific low energy levels he may just not like your choice of toys. My blue heeler (Maverick) will drop whatever the fuck he is doing if you whip out a tennis ball (or even better a ball with a bell inside it), he will leave food/other toys/other dogs/bones the second he sees/hears that ball. You may just need to find what gets Buddy's juices flowing. tbh though i am fucking jealous, i love my little guy but fuck me he is a handful sometimes...
Yup, we put peanut butter all the hell over a rawhide and he doesn't touch it. He is not food motivated at all. He eats a very small amount each day, even though we give him plenty to get him to put on a little weight since he is thin in the middle. He'll accept the beggin strips that I give him when he does something good, but he doesn't get excited about them and eats the pieces leisurely. I think it is his breed, that is what makes the most sense. I haven't noticed worms in his poop, and I'll have him checked at the vet for heartworms when we go. Thanks y'all.
