I have a few friends with Boxers and they are awesome dogs. Great with people, great with kids, just very friendly. Some of them get knee and hip problems as they age, though. So you'd have to watch for that. Otherwise, they're a great choice. I know Hooker has one, so hopefully she'll chime in, too.
The only thing I know about Boxers is that they are very high energy. Having two other dogs will be a big help with wearing the Boxer out. I think Hooker has one. May want to shoot her a PM. Took too long yapping in the office and effin beat me to the Hooker part. Oh well.
Two dogs makes good sense, dogs need a doggie companion, three is a bit much, makes the whole family more like a pack.
Not a bad thing at all, they are a pack animal and feel more comfortable in a pack environment. Its only bad if you aren't a strong pack leader.
My wife and I have four dogs (one Shar Pei/terrier mix, one rat terrier, and two toy chihuahuas for her) and one black cat. It's the best form of turning-back-the-clock birth control I ever could have hoped for. I sincerely recommend to any male on here who's wife is giving them shit about wanting kids, and who does not presently want a kid for themselves, to just bring home a puppy for her tomorrow. That'll buy you a few more years at least. And besides think of it this way -- they'll both shit on the carpet for the first few years anyway, just you won't go to jail if you put one in a cage for it.
Pepper is a Boxer cross (half American Bulldog). Yes, yes, yes to the high energy thing. The other two will tucker him/her out, but she/he will certainly need the daily walks and attention. Also... ask about health issues from the mom/dad. They're super freaking sensitive to skin issues and other shit - which we learned the hard way. But it seems the sensitivity is in the younger years, and they outgrow the allergies (Pepper did).
Today's visit went very well. I'm adopting Buck on Tuesday and will have a week long trial period. I'm crossing my fingers he works out! Spoiler
I think he's here to stay. Spoiler He's been very well behaved and pretty obedient from the start. Knows his new name (Buck) already. Loves fetching stuff and playing with his tennis ball. He barked only twice today. So far so good! He's asleep at my feet like this right now.
YOU GOT A PINK-NOSED LAB! I think they are exponentially cuter than regular regular labs(which are still adorable) That's my roommate's dog, Xia.
one more. I don't let him in my bed. this hurts his heart. He's 2.5 and he's a mess. the people who had him didn't do enough to socialize him or exercise him, so we've been doing some work this week.
My mutt hugging her toy. I have never seen her get attached to a toy. We took her to the vet cause we noticed a little cut just above her pad on one of her rear feet. It was nothing major she wasn't limping at all, and husky's are the world's biggest babies. My wife saw the toy hanging on the wall loved it, and bought it for her. And quite often you will see her kind of hugging her toy.
