That's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. I posted on the local pet group to see if anyone knows who this guy is with plans to send in a complaint to the humane society which I read can do an investigation.
How’s your local pet group? I’ve been on a few and any post usually generates a few hundred argumentative comments. Everybody’s an expert pet owner of impeccable character, it seems.
It's a mix. There's the super bleeding heart types, the pragmatic types, the country "my dog is purely a tool" types. A thread recently got locked because someone was trying to identify the origin/owner of a dog that was repeatedly killing their chickens and there were arguments between the ones who wanted to trap it and love it and the ones who wanted to kill it and BBQ it. The main admin is involved in the local pet rescue and tends to be pragmatic, giving fair middle of the road advice and trying to keep discourse civil. The responses on my particular post were fine. There's also a lot of people who shouldn't have pets trying to get free vet advice on sometimes really bad and urgent problems. Edit or trying to raise money for said vet problems.
Oh, he was not ignored. He was the original guy, and is feeling a bit hurt due to the new always-in-your-face attention seeking bitch, but he's coming to grips with the understanding that he has all the power over her. Puppies play different than grumpy old cats, and he's slowly coming around.
My friend's daughter just got a Frenchie and named him Saint. He's 12 weeks old and the cutest little puppy!! But if this isn't the most bougie dog I've seen...
They are the cutest little nuggets. Our friends have one and when they first got him, you couldn’t walk 20 feet in a public place without people trying to pet and hold him.
We're attempting a major behavior correction on a dog in our care. An old neighbor lady showed up on our doorstep, crying, asking for help with her son's dog. Her son had to be committed after a suicide attempt. She didn't even make it 24 hours with the dog. The dog is absolutely uncontrollable, pulls so hard on the leash, which he can't be let off of ever, humps or gets aggressive with every dog it gets near, and appears to not even answer to its name. He's super sweet with people, though. So full of energy and basically no dog manners. We took him in for the remainder of the time the son is in the psych ward. If he's staying here, he's getting worked on.
This dog is a six year old pit mix, looks like he has some boxer in him. He's not neutered, if it were my dog I'd fix this immediately. He's really head shy, been smacked around. If you try to wag your finger at him for discipline, he winces and ducks away. What little training he's had has been negative and involved hitting him in the head. The only command he knows is sit and he's only consistent with it when treats are involved. He's calmed down a little since yesterday afternoon. The attempts at humping and dominance has calmed down, towards our dog at least. I don't know how long he'll be here, but the short term goal is leash training and a "leave it" command to stop bad behavior.
Good luck with that. It's amazing just how bad a dog's behaviour can be when left unchecked or negatively reinforced by a bad owner.
Consistency when training is so important I've found, and something I have to constantly remind my wife when she lets our Springer get away with something (jumping up on chairs, releasing before given a command etc) Ours is coming up to 1.5 years now
