She is supposed to be a sheppard/husky cross. A lot of the dogs at the SPCA come from villages around this area, so they are never fully sure. There was 4 puppies all the same size/age looking, 2 were pure white husky looking and 2 looked like mine.
We are dog sitting for my in laws. They have a sweet dachshund named Cheecho. Here he is enjoying the afternoon sun.
@wexton and anyone else interested. The wisdom panel site is running a 25% off all tests on their site for just a couple days. They used to send me codes but now they just advertise site wide sales.
Zoe went fishing on the Bow River today. While I was going for trout (first one landed blew her mind and my back trying to manager her and a fly rod), while she was going for sticks and rodents. Mission accomplished.
She’s still tied up because she’s still figuring out that “swimming” thing, and the fast flowing Bow is not the place I want to see her float off downstream. I can still reel her in at this point.
The puppy is going to learn the hard way that bees are called spicy sky raisin for a reason. Wonder what she was snapping at then I see a little black dot flying around.
The puppy is going to be so upset when we aren't in strike anymore. We have to do 4 hour picket duty. I picked 8am to noon. So I have taken her for the past 5 days to hang out with everyone. She has been having so much fun. She is around 8 months old now, but she actually listens very well. I have had her off leash and all I have to do is whistle or call her name and she runs to me.
We've got a long road ahead of us in Gus' senior years. He's already showing hip problems at 5 years old. We're getting nothing but mutts from now on, no breeds with known hip issues. I hate seeing him limp and hurt. We spent $264 a month on wife's last service dog for glucosamine injections, for the last two years of his life. Any of you have success with any OTC supplements? I'm off to Google to see what's available these days.
Buddy is getting old. I don't know how old, but he was an adult when we adopted him from the shelter and we have had him over 11 years. He has problems walking. He does ok except we have stairs which aggravate the pinched nerve in his back. Also my toddler has been mean to him lately. We figure he has some sort of nerve impingement that is effecting his legs. That one leg has been atrophied his whole life. He gets an OTC glucosamine complex from the farm supply. He is prescribed gabapentin 3x a day, and it is an inexpensive med. He just finished up a course of Prednisone for a flare up, so we had to stop the daily Meloxicam he normally takes (also an inexpensive med). The meds help a lot. He also gets periodic ketamine injections for pain which help SO much. Our vet is rural. She treats a lot of farm animals and destitute people's pets. I've been impressed with how much she works with us to find ways to alleviate his discomfort, but in an inexpensive way. We are allowed to communicate by phone to fix or change meds, and we aren't charged a vet or office fee for the injections. This vet is wonderful, and makes all the difference in the world. I don't think he would be nearly as comfortable as he is if we lived in Alabama because that vet was fucking pricey.
