@Fiveslide this is the supplement we use for Buddy. I consider this to be very expensive. Inflation prices... The price doubled from one purchase to the next. I will probably find a new brand. For the same period of time, I spend a little less for Rx meds and injections.

I tried two cbd oils for my dog’s hips. One from out of state because my hippy friend claimed Ohio doesn’t allow cbd with a certain non-thc chemical that is what really makes it work. More “it needs to be organic wild caught cold pressed krill oil or you’re wasting your money. The good stuff is 68.32$ for 30 day supply!” Supplement hokem.

Neither worked. Carprofen did and gave her 3 more years of pain free life. Though every time I had to reup at the vet I’d request the script go to Costco but they’d call back and fill it at the office (for 3x the price) and had to have them forward it along.

We had vets like this when we had the farm, that would actually come and do the dogs while they did the horses and cattle. I know they've retired, I'd love to find one half as good nowadays.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll give that stuff a try.

First day back to work after 13 days on the picket line with the puppy. She was not happy this morning when she didn't get to leave with me.

I took Buddy to the vet today. His ketamine injection was $25 and they came out to the car for him. His 90ct 300mg gabapentin pills were $18. Just a reference point on cost for some of this stuff.

Is your vet picky about just exactly how "canine" the recipient of this $25 ketamine is?

Once again, Zoe is totally enjoying daycare and the pond.

She was even today's poster girl for the daycare's instagram feed.

This is the new supplement for Buddy that was highly recommended by his vet. I was able to use 2 $20 coupons on chewy.com and get it very inexpensively. On a $90 order for this and some male dog belly bands, I paid $50.

Having your best bud get old fucking sucks. Let me say it again. This fucking sucks. I don't think I want another dog again. And definitely not a big one that I can't help when they need it. The slow decline is miserable. He's my first dog and I don't think any other will be as near and dear to me as Buddy. My heart is already hurting so much.

Keep us posted on how that one works for him. Below is what Gus is on, and he's doing great on it.

my dogs are on Dasuquin as well. It’s expensive, but it works. Unfortunately the large dog had to go on a daily joint med as well as of about a week ago.

    Is this for arthritis?
If so, look into Solensia - it’s a monoclonal antibody injection. It started for dogs, and we gave it to our cat (the vet gave it to our cat rather) in her last months once it had been approved for feline use. It was night and day difference, she was able to jump back onto places she’d given up on for a long time.

    Pricey, but worth it.

No, it's not for arthritis. He has a problem with his back that affects his back legs. Using stairs aggravates it badly and he'll lock up and collapse after coming up, so wf carry him. I have long suspected he was hit by a car before he came to us. That back leg has always been a bit atrophied and shaky. But anyway, from X-rays the only problem spot is his back.

That med might help someone else, though.
