    Local butchers rock.

Ordered 10 bags of frozen dog bones. Just got delivered today, for under $50 all in.

    Zoe is pretty fucking happy.

A single bone like that from big box per store is $15.

    Fuck them!

The cats and the dog don't quite get along yet. It's getting better, but the dog still has a "strong prey drive" and wants to kind of eat, or "aggressively play" with the cats.

This has made the cats bond so much better than they have in the past.

Needless to say, Zoe was downstairs sleeping under my desk and the cats knew this, so made a break for the outdoors.

"Let us out! She's not here!"

The new fella, Cooper, seems to be settling in quite nicely.

That’s what I thought when we saw his ad online. He reminded me of Copper from The Fox and the Hound and that’s what I suggested for a name but no one liked it. So Cooper he became.

For fun we did a DNA test in him which came back Bulldog, Staffordshire Terrier ( which I suspected ) and Rhodesian Ridgeback.

That last one threw me for a loop, but apparently there is a black and tan variety. Part of me thinks the company is wrong, but whatever.

It’s funny, I’ve seen at least one other dog that could be his twin, and now yours.

Yeah to all of that for me. Max is going to be 11 this February. I'm not ashamed to admit that I've fallen asleep cutting onions thinking about how I won't be able to give the base of his tail scratches and if I'm in my chair, how he'll inevitably stand up, put his front paws on my shoulders and give me a hug.

I'm getting verklempt just writing this post. Dammit. Time to give him a treat and spoon him on the floor instead of working.

After a long day and gig last night, I was up earlier than I wanted to be this morning and was out doing chores, unloading the feed in the truck, etc. Noticed our dog was missing, but figured he was off taking a dump. He seemed to be taking a long time so I went to check on him.

That’s when I remembered we had our septic pumped out yesterday. And as usual, some residual ended up on the grass. Aw fuck…

You know what he did right?

He did a great job or rolling in it of course. All over him, his collar and perimeter collar. I may have contemplated shooting him.

I dragged his ass to the bathtub, threw away the regular collar. After bathing him I had to clean the perimeter collar because those things are expensive. Then had to clean the bathroom from him shaking water all over.

After washing my hands 150 times I finally got to make my first cup of coffee. All before 8am.

And now he’s all curled up on the couch like nothing happened:

    Asshole…

This cat has several cat trees and a few cat beds to choose from. So where does she choose to sleep? My carry-on.

Yep... mine too. There's something about the texture of that canvas material that they seem to like.

I just wanted to put this product review out there, in case any of you were looking at the FI collar for tracking your pet. I can't recommend it for every situation. It probably works well for some dogs, in some areas. It still took me two hours to find our pit last night.

If your pet likes to wander, slowly, and in one direction, in an area with good cell service, it would probably fit your needs. Or if your dog likes to go hang out somewhere for long periods of time. Our pit likes to chase deer about once a month. He runs like a madman in giant figure-eights, covering several square miles, after the deer outrun him. By the time you get a location update, and it can be 10 to 15 minutes between updates in poor service areas, he is long gone from that ping. A couple times he pinged within a hundred feet of me, and he wasn't there anymore.

It did help me find him, eventually, so it is better than nothing.

Ol' Buddy getting his old man soak. I've found that a good epsom salt soak helps him out tremendously so he gets one when we can. I cradle his head in my hands the entire time because he gets so comfy, he's falling asleep the whole time. I'm able to make the water deep enough that his back end floats a little. It has to be absolute bliss for his back.

So I think we are down to one cat. They basically live in the basement so we really don't see them a whole lot. But yesterday i got thinking that i haven't seen fat cat around for a while and his brother(which is a typical cat and doesn't want attention) has been super needy. So i went around the house shaking the cat treats, nothing. I went through the house checking every spot i could think of nothing. I went through the basement making a bunch of noise to scare him out of a hiding hole, nothing.

So either i got a dead cat somewhere that isn't starting to smell yet. Or he somehow got out, but even in the summer time when i would leave the door open he wouldn't go further then 10 ft from the door and if something made a noise he would run back inside. And it has been the coldest it has been this year.

Well i had the bright idea, lets try shaking the cat treats outside around the house. Found him under my neighbours deck, in the wood pile

Glad to hear he’s still around. Weird that he’s outside hiding like that. Might want to take him to the vet, as cats tend to fuckoff and hide when their time comes. They seem to know when that is.
