I am not sure that is necessary. You just need to go into the bios settings and turn off the internal graphics card most likely. I doubt it is that tricky but you can always google it.
Yeah I see myself using google a lot in the future. I just tried the Windows 7 64bit install on my laptop, but it doesnt work since I have Vista 32bit installed. Looks like a clean install is in order. I have never done anything like that though so, im gonna wait until I get the desktop working first.
I'm taking from this all that you've never built a computer/ you aren't incredibly tech savvy. While I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm going to recommend you find an older computer (that still works), take it completely apart, and put it back together to see if it works. It's not the hardest thing, but you don't want to fuck up an expensive component.
You can wait, it probably is not necessary as long as you kill off the on board card in the bios first. Figured I should warn you so you know if what could be happening.
Not sure where to post this so I'll try it here. Anyone on Google Wave? None of my friends have an account but I'd give wave a try. Could we maybe start an idiot board wave or something? If you want to add me, I'm m.a.kaptein@googlewave.com. P.s. I have two or three invites to give out so pm/post your e-mail address if you'd like one.
I've been having stupid problems with MSN on my laptop. There's people that show up on my list on my desktop, but I can't see them on my laptop, and I don't get notifications that someone has tried to add me when on the laptop, plus other people don't get them when I add them from my laptop. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Live, but it still didn't work. Anyone know what to do?
I'm looking for a DDR3 laptop. I have a bunch of spare DDR3 SODIMMs and want to take advantage of that. Also I'm looking for a 3MB cache, so the new Intel Core2 Duo's are preferred. Any suggestions? My budget is up-to 1200$ and I don't care if the Laptop only has 1GB of ram installed, as I said, I have a ton. I need a computer before next week so this is really urgent.
I'd look into Lenovo's thinkpad line. Last I checked Lenovo had transitioned to DDR 3 on most of their models, and the thinkpads have amazing build quality.
FYI, we have a new Tech Board now, with a bunch of different/specific threads. Please go check it out, and provide comments in the "FEEDBACK" thread. This thread has been moved to the new forum, and please reserve it for stuff that doesn't fit in the other topics. ...nettdata
Seems that we dont have a thread for phones in general. Anyone know how to back up your contacts on a Win Mobile phone (HTC Vogue) without having to use the shitty windows sync and outlook?
I do my banking through Bank of America and use their online services a lot. They are offering a year free of McAfee Anti-virus. I use Avira and wondering if it is worth it to switch to McAfee or does it make no difference.
So, I have an interesting issue. I just picked up a new case for my computer, threw everything together and now none of my USB ports will work on boot-up. I have a mouse hooked up too one of the usb port's and it's not even getting power too it. There is always the quaint possibility that I messed up the mobo when I threw everything but I want to think of that as a last option. This includes the USB ports on the case as well as the ones on the mobo. Anyway, I'm using a ASUS M2N-E SLI mobo and Corsair 850 Watt power supply. Also, what is the 4-pin ATX12V connector for? I don't have a cable that will work for it and I don't recall using it when I put my computer together last, so it's unlikely part of the issue, I'm just curious on what it does. Edit: I should mention that I recently put in a second vid card doing the crossfire thing. The issue still exists when I pull out the second vid card.
I have a bunch of Google Wave invitations remaining so if anyone is interested PM me. Also I just picked up the Chrome Beta for Mac which is fantastic, but for some reason Google decided to disable extensions for Mac users. I found a way to enable extensions here, but when I go to add a particular extension I get a notification saying that extensions have been disabled. Maybe I'm just retarded and not doing something right, but if anyone could help that would be great.
As far as loading a Windows OS onto a Macbook Pro in order to do some 'ideal' gaming, which would be best? I've got TinyXP on both of my PC machines (also looked into Tiny7- still has bugs), yet I've heard running 7 is best in this case, but with mixed reviews/opinions. I know xp only utilizes up to DirectX9 and 7 takes up more memory & so forth, but would it make that much of a difference between the two? Lookin at the lower end MBPro model (2.23ghz, 2g ram, 160 hd with Nvidia 9400m graphics). Primarily playing CS:S, L4D(2) and maybe a couple newer'ish games.
I may be going crazy as I have been switching among Mac OS X, Windows XP, and Windows 7 through out each day for a couple of months now, but I SWEAR TO GOD, I was able to setup a stock Window 7 Ultimate system with 4 desktops much like the OS X Spaces utility. Am I delusional?
Why is Microsoft Exchange the only Outlook version that has auto-reponse? Is there anyway around this?
Assuming you mean the out of office assistant? No. It's because the rule needs to work on a server technology for it to operate as intended. You can go to Tools --> Rules and Alerts and create a new rule to do the same job - but it will only work if you leave Outlook open and connected to the internet for all the time that you're away. You can also check with your email provider if they have an auto reply service. Most commercial email account hosts do.
