I don't see any section for i-pod stuff, so I'll just throw these two questions here.

    1. If something even brushes against my i-pod, it skips out of the song it's playing and reverts to "shuffle all." It will do this with any sort of jostling, even setting down on a table. Is this normal?

    2. Its shuffle function sucks. It has about 1700 songs on it and always seems to recycle the same 50 or so. Any way to change that?

What sort of ipod? Are we talking a 5 year old 3g or a brand new Ipod Touch?

When you sync to your ipod are you sync'ing all songs are specific play lists?

It's a 1 year old ipod nano. It's been like this since Day 1.

Um, not intentionally? I just plug it in, drag and drop songs onto it, and then eject it. I have a few playlists, but the shuffle function typically isn't pulling songs from those list.

The new Nanos have a shuffle feature that when you shake it, it'll go into Shuffle mode. It's a huge pain in the ass and something they don't have an off option for - I hate that facet of mine.

As for the crappy shuffle thing, it's just the way Apple does it. From what I understand, it keeps a record of how many times you've played a song then coordinates what gets played on that. So it'll play a bunch of not-as-popular songs then a popular one. Again, not much you can do unless you've got an playlist set and then use the auto-shuffle songs option in the menu.

Is it possible to have my rear audio output play something different than the headphones I use on the front panel jack? My pc is using the TV as a second monitor and I would like to be able to put a movie on that screen, played thru VLC and the sound going out the rear output and at the same time be able to plug my headphones into the front jack and play a song thru foobar and hear only that.

I have a k9a2 platinum mainboard and Realtek HD audio manager. I can right click and test either output device, getting the test sound on only that output. But getting the program to exclusively output to that device is giving me trouble. I can only get them both playing at the same time.

    Thanks

This isn't a standard requirement and from what I can see, neither Foobar nor VLC support it natively. Honestly I'm not sure that the driver is even going to support this behavior well outside of test circumstances. I would suspect that to make this work, you'd need an add-on for both VLC and Foobar to select output channel, and you may well need a driver revision.

How are you at writing code?

I was able to get my problem solved. Foobar2000, with the xchange theme at least, will let you pick your output device from primary output, realtek audio driver and realtek 2nd audio driver . Selecting 2nd audio driver and playing a song puts it out thru the front panel, and everything else from windows, including VLC and WMC, goes out thru the rear output. Thanks for taking time to reply.

I have a modded PS2 with a dead or dying laser. It will only read legit PS1 games now whereas it's supposed to be able to handle burned PS1 & PS2 games and legit PS1 & PS2 games. I think I may have shortened the life of the laser by using it as a DVD player for close to a year, but regardless I need a new laser and a place to install it. The guy I bought it from a few years ago seems to have closed up shop for the time being. Anyone know where I can get my PS2 repaired?

I'm trying to watch videos on youtube and am getting the following message where the video should appear:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

I have Flash Player ActiveX 10 on my computer, which is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I also have JavaScript turned on, so I'm scratching my head for answers to this problem. Anyone know the solution?

I am trying to install Snow Leopard on my MB pro but it keeps saying I do not have enough RAM space. The disk says I only need 1 GB free and I have 46 + available, plus I've deleted virtually everything and the message still keeps coming up, what am I supposed to do?

You have 46 GB of RAM? Are you getting RAM and Hard Drive storage space mixed up?

4 GB of RAM is fairly high, 46 is just ridiculous.

My 1 year old MBP has only 2 GB of RAM.

If you're using Firefox, it's usually an add-on that's blocking it. Possibly NoScript? If you're not using Firefox, <a class="postlink" href="http://www.getfirefox.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.getfirefox.com</a> will solve it.

Probably. I clicked HD info and it says 44 GB available. If thats not my RAM how do I clear my ram, or at least make it spacious enough to complete the installation?

RAM is the amount of memory your computer has available while it's running. Basically, when you start up your computer, it loads stuff from your hard drive into RAM, where it can do things to it.

It's NOT your hard disk, or the amount of storage you have on your desktop, etc.

RAM is something that you have to buy from the store to increase. You also cannot manage it, or increase it, by deleting stuff out of it, like your hard disk.

RAM is generally 1-4GB these days, with some desktops having more.

    Hard Disks are generally 250GB - 2000GB (2TB).

RAM only lasts while the computer is turned on, and anything stored in that memory will go away when the computer is turned off, whereas Hard Disk storage is persistent (as in it's there when you turn the computer back on).

Basically, take your computer to the local Apple store and tell them you want to increase your RAM, and they'll help you.

RAM is not the same thing as hard drive space, and deleting things will not free up any RAM.

If you go to About This Mac from the apple-icon menu, it will tell you how much ram you have.
I'm surprised your system doesn't have enough as I didn't know any MBPs came with less than 1gb.
Also make sure you close any programs that you dont need to be using. Its possible it requires 1gb of ram accessable and not being consumed by other processes

I'm using IE8. The thing that so stupid about it is that it seems totally random. Just this morning I was listening to 2-part podcast. When I was done with part 1, which worked fine, I opened part 2 and needed to install flash. So then I tried opening part 1 again, which I just finished listening to, and again apparently needed to install flash. It doesn't make any sense.

You're right. It doesn't make any sense why anyone with a choice would use IE8 instead of Firefox

    Well, that's what I got.

Any, I don't understand all the hate for IE. I mean I'm not looking for much in my browser; maybe my needs are simple but a web browser doesn't have enough impact on my computing to merit such strong feelings one way or another. I mean does Firefox come off the screen and give me blow jobs and I just don't know it?

All the hate for IE is because it's shit. You're having problems with things that you would not have with Firefox. Just download it and install it and 90% of your problems go away.
